The location is ideal, as it's a 20-minute walk from all the main eateries along Route 62, but the property itself is peaceful and feels like it's far from the hustle and bustle of town. There are two adorable friendly doggies who will happily keep you company while hanging out on the lush lawn next to the braai area, and the wood-fired hot tub under the beautiful Karoo sky at night is an awesome experience. The chalets have everything you need and Bertus was so helpful and always available for touristy questions, and assisted when I had a bit of trouble getting my fire going. Will be back next year!

The cottage was exceptionally neat and tidy. Electric blankets and heaters are provided for your stay during winter which were most welcome. Tea, coffee, milk etc are all provided along with a little welcome drink. As the location was a little away from the centre of town, it was very peaceful and rustic. A daily 'freshen up' of your room is also offered which was a wonderful bonus. All in all, very happy with our stay. The hosts were also very warm and welcoming.
There is a shortish dust road leading up to the farm and with the heavy rains was very muddy. It was a little tricky negotiating this road on a motor bike so just check what the status of the road is prior to your arrival.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Blue Cow Barn, and it was an extraordinary experience that I will cherish for a long time. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality by the owner, who made every effort to ensure my stay was perfect. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and offered stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The attention to detail was evident, from the comfortable bed with high-quality linens to the thoughtful amenities provided. It was the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort, making it a truly unique and relaxing retreat. The farm itself is a picturesque haven, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The grounds were beautifully maintained, providing ample opportunities for leisurely strolls and enjoying the natural beauty of the area.

I stayed in 'Ansie' cottage over-looking the main farm house. It was very clean, spacious and well equipped for self-catering. The keys were in a lock box on arrival and entering the property was a simple procedure. The place was quiet and the perfect place to relax and kick back after a long motorcycle ride. Sitting on the stoep, nursing a glass of wine, it wasn't long before I was joined by a friendly dog and cat, who proceeded to lie at my feet. There's a hot tub at the rear of the cottage which looked very inviting but which I failed to take advantage of on this occasion...but definitely will next time! It's but a short walk into town, which offers a few shops and several good restaurants. I ate at Mez which offers an excellent and varied menu. (The Thai Fish curry was amazing!) Overall, I was very happy with my stay at Blue Cow Barn farm and will definitely book again when I'm next in the area.
No complaints.

Great location, the place was comfortable and had everything we needed. The verandah was lovely to sit and have a drink in the evening. Very quiet setting and cute dogs that lay on the patio by us at night for company.
The kitchen area had very little work surface around the sink which was a challenge and the toilet seat kept crashing down when you least expected it, very small things and certainly not a deal breaker.

Barrydale is a quiet but interesting little town with some nice shops and restaurants. It makes a perfect stopover when travelling the R62. The blue cow cottages for me is THE place to stay when in Barrydale. A comfortable and super clean cottage with everything you need for selfcatering. If you don't want to cook, try the blue cow coffeeshop just a short walk away. Fantastic milk shakes, breakfasts, meals and the yummiest cakes. I had the best nights sleeps. It's beautifully quiet and safe. The stoep is lovely to sit on any time of day and if you want to stretch your legs it is just a short walk into town. Hannette, the owner, and all her staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I clearly give 11 points out of 10 ;-)
There is absolutely nothing I didn't like.

We had a lovely quiet family room for 3 which was perfect for us. We had a quick dip in the heated outdoor hot tub which was fun and an exquisite dinner at Mez karoo kitchen in Barrydale. Had a good sleep and were greeted by a friendly cat and dog in the morning.
There's a big rock on the way out which was a bit difficult to navigate around considering we had a trailer attached to our vehicle. No other complaints. The place was just what we needed for a night's stopover.

This self-catering apartment exceeded our expectations and we really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very cosy and homely and has a very nice bed. All furnishings and comforts are in the cottage and if you so wish, you can prepare and enjoy your own meal inside the cabin, or outside on the barbeque. Bathroom is clean and modern. Location is very good - close to the town of Barrydale and its restaurants, but yet it is located on a peaceful farm bordering the town with a real country atmosphere. The owner is very friendly and helpful.
The staff made some noise early in the morning and talked loud while walking in-between the cottages, but this is only a small thing.

Most wonderful location in beautiful countryside. The Owner was a very friendly host and couldn't have been more helpful. I thought this was the most beautiful stay we had on the Garden Route, real Africa and so peaceful and calm and pretty. Breakfast at the Breakfast area was even more outstandingly beautiful. The breakfast served was a piece of art for those folk instagram obsessed!
Everything was perfect, would come again.

The little self-contained cottage, Ansie, was extremely well-appointed and tastefully decorated. It had a lovely veranda with a table and chairs, ideal for taking in the surrounding tranquillity. The friendly animals take 'pet friendly' to a whole new level! A perfect place to break up your travels and unwind!
