The property itself is a tranquil retreat. The gardener does a fantastic job of keeping the grounds looking great. We really liked the view from our room overlooking the garden and the pool. The owners have an eye for detail—even down to leaving treats on the pillows at night after we returned from dinner. They even placed an umbrella outside the door on the morning we had a little rain, ensuring we wouldn’t get wet on our way to breakfast. We had some dietary requirements that we communicated before arrival, and a special effort was made to accommodate them, which I really appreciate. We enjoyed our stay.

We were on a short road trip through the Western Cape and spent the night in Bloomestate. The large property is impressive, the bungalow-style rooms are very clean and individually furnished. The welcome was very friendly and courteous. The very best thing, however, was that we were allowed to taste oranges and lemons to our heart's content in the adjacent citrus plantation. The breakfast was definitely the best on our trip. The fruit salad was arranged with a lot of passion. The scrambled eggs were excellent. At the gate, Cherè gave us small cookies for our onward journey. Hard to believe, but true. I usually never write reviews, but this service convinced me and I will book with BLOOMESTATE again at the next opportunity.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at this stunning hotel for two nights during our Garden Route trip, and it was nothing short of magical! Calvin and Cheré are some of the warmest and most welcoming hosts we’ve ever met. Their exceptional hospitality and fantastic local tips made our stay so special – thanks to them, we enjoyed incredible outings and truly made the most of our time in the area. The hotel itself is spotless and beautifully designed, with so much love and attention to detail. The property is massive, offering plenty of space to unwind, and it’s like a little slice of paradise in the heart of Swellendam. It’s easy to see why so many guests keep coming back – and we will absolutely be joining them! A heartfelt thank you to Calvin and Cheré for making our stay unforgettable. We can’t wait to return!

With passion, a true heart for hospitality, and a keen eye for detail and design, the hosts took on the challenge of managing this elegant estate… just before Covid lockdown hit. Luckily they survived. Now, their project deserves every success.

What a truly delightful hotel Chere & Calvin have created! A lovely, tranquil setting with large, peaceful rooms set in a charming garden. Delicious breakfasts with a super selection of dishes and homemade treats. And the couple couldn't have been more helpful, with information about places to visit as well as restaurants to try - and then assist with booking a table.

Our only disappointment was not staying longer!

Absolutely wonderful stay at Chere's guesthouse. 5 star service from herself and her husband. We travelled as a family of 4 adults and 1 baby. Rooms were spotlessly clean and huge (photos do not do them justice!). Travel cot, changing mat and big basket of toys for the baby. Delicious breakfast and again, high chair / plate / bowl / spoon for baby provided. Lovely touches like self service bar and honesty box, communal space with games / DVDs / coffee machine. Tea and coffee provided in rooms. The surroundings are absolutely stunning. We only stayed one night and we all wish we had much longer to enjoy the beautiful estate.

I already suggested to have a small support for getting out of the nice pool. Particularly for elderly people who would like to hang onto to something when getting in/ out of pool. I personally would have loved to use the pool, but abstained, with some minor knee problems. Some other guests had similar comment.

Boomestate is a wonderful small hotel set in a well cared for garden and orchard. It is run by the wonderful husband and wife team who are caring, enthusiastic and very hospitable. The breakfast was the best we have had on this trip, all done with consideration to the local community (and of course the environment). The room was very spacious with a very comfortable bed. It was great to get up in teh morning and wander around teh grounds enjoying the sounds of the birds.

I can't think of anything that would improve our experience of the place.

Lovely quiet location with spacious, individually designed bedrooms and lovely grounds. There’s a really nice communal room, which we didn’t have time to use,and a peaceful little pool area which we used. The owners were very helpful and friendly and breakfast was homemade and delicious.

Nothing really. You’d prob need to drive into town but this was no bother.

The whole property is an oasis of calm and green. It was so healing to check in there after a long drive from Cape Town. Everything in this property looked well taken care of and nicely designed. It is conveniently located close to the street and is well hidden in the greenery (just a slight buzz of traffic could be heard). There are two bungalows in a big garden, each containing 4 rooms, so thought there were other guests, it didn't feel crowded at all. Rooms were very clean, spacious, nicely decorated and beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the pool very much in the heat of the day, it was clean and refreshing. The owners were extremely friendly. Chere sent me a message in the morning suggesting several dinner options in town, this was very helpful. She even booked a restaurant of our choice. Breakfast was amazing- very fresh, high quality products and very delicious. Everything felt more like a cozy home stay rather than a conventional hotel.
