This is the 18th century house where the organist at the Collegiate Church in the town lived. He must have been quite well off because it is very well appointed, with excellent reception rooms, double shutters on the windows and views towards the countryside. It has been beautifully restored and far enough away from the main part of the town and the numerous tourists. The couple who run it speak good English and were very welcoming. We visited the beach on the little peninsula at Isla de la Virgen del Mar on the way to the ferry the next morning. Lovely to walk on the beach and the dunes, and there is a nice cafe at the car park.

We just wish we could have stayed there longer than one night. We were on our way to the ferry at Santander.

Beautiful super-quant hotel in a perfect location it with plenty of free parking. We got a top floor with a balcony and it as perfectly finished and immaculate. The owner of the hotel even carried my bags to my room (and refused to accept any tip!). The owner and hotel staff really care about this hotel and keeping their guests happy. We did not buy the breakfast, but when we visited the outdoor eating area in the morning, our jaws dropped -- it was gorgeous! The owner recognized our wonder and made us two Coffee-con-Leches which we sipped while dreamy-eyed at the city below. This hotel is a "Must Stay", you will surely fall in love with the city, the hotel and their staff.

Nothing. It was beyond-perfect. I'm 65 with bad knees and walking up the stairs to the top floor was a breeze. I even had to "fight" the offers from their staff to carry everything that I had!

First and foremost, the staff were exceptional. Not only were they incredibly friendly, but they were also a wealth of knowledge when it came to local information. Whether I needed recommendations for dining, sightseeing, or exploring the area, they were always ready to provide the very best suggestions, making my stay even more memorable. The lodge's location is another highlight. Situated right in the heart of the historical part of Santillana del Mar, it offered the perfect blend of convenience and authenticity. Despite being nestled in the midst of such rich history, the lodge still managed to provide ample parking spots, making it incredibly convenient for travelers like myself. As for the accommodations themselves, they were nothing short of delightful. The building exuded historical charm, while the rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable. It was evident that great care had been taken to ensure guests' comfort, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to unwind after a day of exploring. Overall, my experience at this lodge was nothing short of exceptional. From the friendly and knowledgeable staff to the convenient yet authentic location, it truly exceeded all my expectations. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable stay in Santillana del Mar.

I wish I could stay for longer.

I cannot rate this place highly enough. I got there at 10am and knew my room would not be ready. Rafi took my bag , took me to the car park and when I told him I had travelled through the night and would need to sleep in the afternoon, he changed my room to the quietest part of the hotel so I would not be disturbed. Breakfast was continental but had everything from freshly made toast to hams cheeses eggs and pastries plus freshly squeezed orange juice and delicious coffee. A wonderful start to my Camino journey. I hope to return

Maybe a kettle in the room

Beautiful property in a fabulous village. The man on reception was incredibly welcoming and helpful. Modern bathrooms with all the facilities without loosing the charm of the age of property.

Not really a negative but you are in an old medieval town with narrow cobbled streets, that traffic uses both ways, which you have to use to get to the property. The carpark is at the bottom and you have to climb a number of steps. Just something to be aware of if you book it.

This hotel is a true gem, everything was perfect. The property is nestled in the picturesque medieval town of Santillana del Mar. Great breakfast, cozy atmosphere, spotless rooms, charming interiors. The location is ideal for wandering around the town, and there are incredible views of the countryside from the terrace. Our host, Rafa, was the absolute best! All in all, a stay we won't forget :)

Just off the central square of the old town. Lovely views. Delightful hosts. Excellent bathroom & attractive furnishings. We had the room with the enclosed balcony and could sit in the warmth to drink our tea.

A warning: Don’t even try to get to it through the old town - the ‘direct’ route Google Maps will show you. Approach it from above and drive down the hill to it. Drop off your luggage there and you’ll be directed to the parking place well below. Be prepared for a steep climb back up once you’ve parked. Not for those with poor mobility.

Excellent property, lovely to stay in a period building. We had the corner room in the photo. Windows on two sides and enclosed sun balcony with opening windows. Quiet, clean, modern bathroom with good lighting. Comfortable beds. Very close to everything. Would definitely recommend. Camino trail on the doorstep.

A small fridge and kettle would be nice.

What an absolutely delightful hotel. We got the warmest welcome with a big smile from Rafa, the owner, who was fantastic. We parked directly outside to unload, then we moved the car to the car park below the hotel. Rafa gave us a choice of two rooms as we had requested a double bed. We in fact chose the room with two beds together as it was slightly larger with a balcony and view. A very nice gesture on his part. Perfect location within the Old Town. We got there on a Saturday evening and were pleased to see that almost all the shops and restaurants were open Sunday too. We were needing a few days to re-energise and Castillana del Mar is the perfect spot. It’s just a place to slow down, walk around, have a coffee, walk around some more, enjoy one of its many restaurants, try some of the local flan (omg delish) and repeat. We had the top floor room 13. It’s an attic room so a partly sloping roof. No lift, however, Rafa very kindly helped us with our bags. This room had a shower over a small bathtub but after a rainy afternoon, the bathtub was very welcome for a warm up. (The other room we saw with the double bed, street side, had a modern walk in shower so there are options.) Our small balcony was nice (and we put our cold items out there and they stayed cold which was handy.) FYI. No tea or coffee making in the room. Breakfast was 9:00 -11:00 with a good continental selection and great coffee. Think it was around 7 euros extra? I even watched them putting whole oranges into the presser for freshly-squeezed orange juice. Good strong Americano and cortado coffee. There is a bar/lounge downstairs with a proper espresso machine where we had a few coffees in the afternoon and later on, a beer. I even saw some games. Good wifi, good shower pressure, mattresses just right--not too hard or soft. Highly recommend. And Rafa is a delight!!

From the second we arrived, we were made welcome. Aracelli was fantastic, she checked us in and directed us to the hotels on site parking. Parking was key on our list, it is Free too, big bonus. The location is excellent, easy to get to. We used Organista as our base for 7 nights, it’s easy to get to Altamira caves, Comillas, Santander & Saint Vincente. Rafa & Nicole were great hosts, very friendly & knowledgeable, nothing was too much trouble. The room was lovely, with a view a across the field of horses. Bed was excellent and very comfortable, extremely clean. Claudia looked after us at breakfast most days, she was lovely and even organised Oat Milk for us. The Breakfast is buffet style, fresh fruit & Muesli along with toast, breads etc, it was nice and relaxed. The history and construction is beautiful, old and creaky, it was wonderful. Highly recommend going to Puente Viesgo and hiring bicycles next to the river Pas, it’s a lovely easy ride up to Ontaneda. Wonderful scenery, great food and ice cream as a treat when you get there.

all Great, we would stay here again.
