Still amazing… needs a little maintenance here and there otherwise well preserved over time

Need to enforce rules abit better… gym and quite pool had noisy kids in it when we went there Halaal friendliness needs to be reviewed and perhaps a Muslim staff member in the kitchen would be invaluable

The apartment was perfect --stylish, spacious, clean, and cozy. It was perfect for our family of 5 (we took a two-bedroom). The kitchen was large and well fitted, the living room was very nice, the balcony was massive with a seating area, and the bedrooms/bathrooms were comfy and clean. We loved that the floor was heated (such a nice touch). We also loved the area it was at, and the grounds were secure and well-manicured (which is expected in a golf resort). Driving in and out of the resort was really nice as it's on a mountain with superb views. The check-in was smooth. We arrived late and hungry, so the lovely front desk staff suggested we order room service from the restaurant. It was delivered quickly and was very delicious. Our apartment was not too far from the main club house for breakfast; as the weather was crisp and cool, it was perfect for a morning walk. The staff at the restaurant were delightful and accommodating...the breakfast buffet was the best we've had whilst in South Africa. Their hot chocolate was a hit with the kids. We weren't able to golf, sadly, as we were on a schedule, but it would be great to bring our clubs next time. The golf course looked fantastic! I used the laundry service, and our items were finished and delivered to our room the next day. They were not ironed, so make sure you specify that option if you need to. The laundry service was reasonably priced (they charge per kilo). What we liked about staying in Knysna is that it was quite central to areas we wanted to visit, like Tsitsikamma Natl Park, and Cango Caves. We enjoyed having dinner some evenings at the Knysna Waterfront (only a 10 min drive). I would definitely stay here again when in Knysna! 3 days was not enough!

I wasn't comfortable with the window blinds in the bathroom (there were some noticeable gaps that we ended up covering). The fireplace wasn't working, which was disappointing (it was quite chilly and we were really looking forward to having a cozy evening by the fire). The outdoor 'lift' taking you down to the river was also not working, which was quite disappointing as that was the deal-breaker between another resort we were looking at. Our older kids were excited to experience that. There was no mention in Booking.com that it was out of order.

Simola is situated in one of the most beautiful landscapes the Southern Cape has to offer! Our room had stunning views from the iconic Knysna Heads, around the lagoon, up the valley, over the golf coarse and closer, the fynbos beneath the balcony with plenty of bird activity. The rooms were very neat, tidy and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped for longer stays. You can easily wip up a lovely meal if you do not want to go out. The balcony is very spacious and perfect for easy lounging and sundowners. All in all an amazing destination!

From the start, we loved the Simola Hotel! It's a beautiful Hotel, the staff was so friendly and we were greeted with so much professionalism! The suite we stayed in was also amazing, spacious, with beautiful decor! Wish we could've stayed another few nights but we had places to be the next day. This is really a gem of a Hotel. Next time we are definitely bringing the kids along too as the whole resort is very family friendly. Just have to say again, the staff is fantastic!

There was no microwave in the suite, but that is really not a big problem. Would still rate the whole experience 10/10.

The views, pool and serenity was truly relaxing. Breakfast enjoyable albeit a little limited. Padal courts an exciting new addition to the hotel and the housekeeping was amazing. The Rooms / Accommodation is very comfortable in that it offers an open area lounge kitchen and seating area which makes a huge difference when one has kids and in so do not feel cramped.

Certain areas could use a bit of a refresh, no access to golf carts unless one is golfing, (should make them available to the hotel guests who might play around if they got to see the actual course).

In my opinion this is the best hotel in Knysna. I have stayed at houses and other hotels and Simola offers a very unique experience. The staff are super friendly and the food is great, especially since they cater for Halaal food! They have more than enough facilities and even newly installed Padel courts. I will definitely be returning. The views and sunsets from our suite was breathtaking. You definitely need 2 nights at the least to soak up this place.

We loved everything about the property, so comfortable, stunning place, friendly helpful staff and the accommodation was so perfect. The best part was the underfloor heating all over the apartment, heated towel rails and most of all the gas fireplace

The only thing I didn’t like was although halaal friendly, not much consideration is taken about frying eggs separately to the pork products so there is definite cross contamination. The lady doing the eggs is lovely but they need someone that knows how to make eggs how it’s requested.

Simola is a top resort hotel above Knysna. We were extremely comfortable and got an upgrade on arrival. The reception staff took time with us to show us the various restaurants, bar, spa centre and golf reception. Our suite was bigger than almost all we had before at other hotels and extremely comfortable. The food in the main restaurant was excellent.

On the Sunday and Monday evenings the main restaurant was closed. The menu in the bar was limited. Breakfast was ok, but with a little thought could have been much better.

The warm welcoming and the hospitality .Very proffessional staff ever smiling and willing to assist at any given time.The breakfast super prepared and serving stuff great job.Mr James the butler you have become a song to my kids loved you for your kindness.Cleanness from housekeeping team so excellent.Also golf pro shop made a day for my family we had 18 holes play.Everything at Simola executed on time and real made value for our stay.

Nothing at all.All was to the notch number 1.

The breakfast was great from the warm welcome in the mornings to the food being served. Wonderful service and value for money. The staff really are exceptional!

There was no electricity in the afternoons during our stay and no one informed us about this at check-in. We had to call to get the information and even then, we were not told it would be for the entire duration of our stay.
