The park and grounds were beautiful and very well kept. The hotel itself was Accessable with plenty of parking. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. We stayed in the large room and the bed was huge and so comfortable, the bathroom too. Breakfast was amazing with plenty of choice, help yourself with some continental choices as well as full English, Lovely staff to assist too.
We booked a table in the steakhouse for the evening, it was very expensive so I was expecting to be blown away with the meal. It was nice and the staff were lovely but it was just that, nice. I don't think it was worth the price.

I booked last minute and fancied somewhere quiet. Just wow. What a lovely location and building. Everything was spot on. The most relaxing place to have a beer by the lake and finish the days work on the laptop. I have stayed at a few manor type hotels and they are often dated and dishevelled but this was fantastic. I might even plan my next trip around staying here again.
Slightly picky but the steak is >£30. For that money I would have expected a better cut of meat. It was cooked well and tasted fine but, chips were great and the sauce was delicious. I eat a decent steak places often and this was the one and only disappointing thing. I had a Ribeye the night before also and this was like butter, the steak here was a bit chewy and had a fair bit gristle. Price was about the same. It's the buyer not the chef..

The warm reception and effort to accommodate our arrangements (we were part of a large group staying at Hardwick Hall attending a wedding at a local venue). We ate at the hotel across all meal times and were impressed by the service and quality of the food. The staff are an asset including those assigned to clean bedrooms who were efficient, helpful and cheery. Thank you for making us all feel so welcome. My cousin (hard to please!) was very impressed with the service from all staff and also her room which had a view of the lake - that’s high recommendation itself! The grounds are spectacular and everyone took advantage of the walks around the lakes and wooded areas. Thank you for your care and consideration.
The bedroom was quite warm

We attended a wedding at the hotel. We loved the size of room. We loved walking around the autumn tress was so awesome and the fresh air. The wedding was so beautiful. We enjoyed breakfast with the bridal couple. The food was very taste. I loved that it was all local products. We had a lovely receptionist that was always so helpful. The bathroom was large with a bath and shower.
Loved it sadly too far from london and we paid so much for train and taxi as well so will not be comming back. But was an unforgettable trip.

Room allocated was exceptional with all requirements met to both our approval. Easy access to Hardwick Park to have a walk round. Plenty a free parking. Breakfast was very nice "served on hot plates" bonus. I had the full english, but was served half a mushroom and half a piece of black pudding, didn't query this as I had plenty. Dinner was in the Rib Room at 7:30pm, restaurant was very quiet for a Saturday night. My wife's fillet steak was enjoyed, but my T Bone was okay, a bit too gristly, both our triple cooked chips were Luke warm and soggy, sauces were tasty, BUT both plates were cold which cooled our meals. Red wine (Merlot) chosen not the best we have tasted. Yes we would stay at the Hardwick again, but have dinner elsewhere.
Cold dinner plates.

The room was excellent, plenty of space with comfortable furnishings and nice big comfortable bed. Evening Meals were very nice. good choice of wines, beers and spirits. The grounds were very nice too.
Wasn't over excited about the breakfast. It was ok, but I'm not keen on 'buffet style' cooked breakfasts. Whilst there was plenty of choice from the continental aspect, cooked was the usual 'English breakfast' not cooked to order and no cooked breakfast menu options.

Lovely room, comfortable and clean. Friendly staff. A lovely place with beautiful views. Food in the evening was lovely at the event.
Only problem I had was at breakfast. There was no allergen advice at the breakfast buffet. In most hotels they cook a breakfast separately or have notices on the food urns. This is my only complaint.

The room was amazing, the staff were friendly and the hotel was well located
The wedding guests were very noisy and disrespectful to guest, they kept me awake 2 ut ofmy 3 night stay, screaming, shouting and banging on doors till early hours in the morning. Poor selection for gluten free eaters at breakfast.

Our room was very comfortable and we were welcomed in a friendly manner. The setting and views from the hotel and room were great. Various functions took place at the hotel during our stay but didn't disturb our comfort at all.
The restaurant downstairs is rather dark and oppressive and really didn't fit with the decor and ambiance of the hotel. Visiting the Gents toilet from the bar and restaurant is something of a labyrinth and you pass an open door into the kitchen which is not great.

Hardwick Hall is an idyllic location in the heart of County Durham. The staff and the property were both five-star. We enjoyed our stay from start to finish. Even though I'm from the North East I had never been here before but I will certainly come again.
I'd find it very difficult not to like anything about our stay, the staff could not have been more helpful and cheery. The property is well maintained. I know, it rained when we stayed there so if they can do something about the weather for next time that would be amazing!!!
