Our recent stay at was overall enjoyable. The accommodations were comfortable, although it's important to note that there's no air conditioning in the rooms, which can make them hot and humid during the day. Dining experiences varied during our stay. Dinner at Jaguar was decent but unremarkable, while meals at El Mirador were a good, complemented by stunning views. Breakfast and lunch at La Montana were consistently very good. The pool area was well-maintained, although we were disappointed to find the poolside bar closed during our visit. One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the nearby National Park, a 1 hour and 20-minute drive to the entrance of Las Pailas. Despite the journey, the natural beauty and experiences within the park made it completely worthwhile. As part of our stay package, we had access to Pacaya Thermal Springs, a 20-minute tractor ride away. The early morning visit was serene, with the entire spa area to ourselves—a treat enjoyed by both us and the kids. We also explored the Higuerones Hanging Bridges, where 10 out of 16 bridges were open. Despite this, the experience was great, offering memorable views. We went at the end of the afternoon and at sunrise. In conclusion, our stay was pleasant overall, staff very nice, room were clean and highlighted by memorable excursions to nearby natural attractions.

What a great experience we had at Buena Vista! We were there for three days and enjoyed the scenery, the people, and the cultural education. Right outside our room, we could do birdwatching, and saw some precious agoutis and monkeys. We even got to see three toucans, vividly sharing their colors. We bought the Eco Day Pass, which included the water slides, zip lining, horseback riding, hot springs, and the education about sugar, coffee, and clay pottery production. About an hour drive from Liberia airport, this was a great way to start our trip to Costa Rica before we hit the touristy Tamarindo! Thanks especially to David, our tour guide, who did a fantastic job of describing the animal, trees, and history along our excursions. Be careful of the cute little birds at breakfast. They are ready to swarm if you eat outside! 😂Machos Gustos!
It all met our expectations! I would say that extra care and attention should be had for little ones - the zip lining, horseback riding, and water slides can be a little dangerous.

The huge hotel area offers many possibilities to relax and enjoy the nature. The air is nice and cool, especially during the night. The sunset view from the restaurant was stunning. The buffet breakfast was rearry good. The spa was why we came and we enjoyed it.
The walls od the hacienda rooms are thin, you can hear the neighbours a bit too well. At our second day we ran out of hot water in the shower.

Staff were super nice and friendly. The slide is so fun. Spa was incredible (go in the early timeslot and it’s so peaceful!). Gorgeous sunsets and scenery. Lots of animals. This would be a great place to take children.
The rooms are quite basic (no fridge, no aircon). The walls are so thin you can hear everything your neighbors are saying, unfortunately we had a loud child next door who kept screaming. The food isn’t great and quite expensive and there is nowhere nearby to go for food.

EVERYTHING! This was an impulsive Booking.com click. My husband and I spent 3 days there and it's heaven on Earth our 50 year old bodies feel great after our Massage at the hot springs our nights being treated Gracious by WILLIAM at the sunset restaurant. The service was A+ the food was fresh and delicious at all their places even at the springs.
I should have researched more, and I should have been more prepared, they were on their game I wasn't on mine.

The breakfast is good, tipicol Costa Rican with fresh made omelette. The property is large with good paved walking paths. Lots of activities, horse back riding, water slide, zip lining, and hanging bridges. The hot springs are included with the stay. Seen lots of birds, butterflys and coatis. There are two restaurants. El Mirador has a great view to watch the sunset. And really good pizzas.
If you don't have a rental car, then the only way to get there is by taxi or the resort will book a ride. About one hour from Liberia.

The cabin we stayed in had two full beds. Two ceiling fans, a fridge, CR coffee maker, hot water kettle, and hot shower. The hot springs is a 20 min tractor ride. The hots springs are hot, and beautiful. Or natural smoothie with several fruits. Get a massage for 1 hr $70. See the sunset at the restaurant. Everything is in the park to do.
No store close by needed milk for our coffee in the room.

This is a great place. The facilities are in great shape. My room was clean and the staff are welcoming. There are lots of activities of on sight.
The only thing I did not like is the location. It's isolated and the last 6 miles road leading to this properties is unpaved. It's a bumpy ride. Overall I would visit this property again.

Wonderful location and one of the best sunset views ever from the Mirador. We really enjoyed the range of activities available, and given limiter time could take advantage of only two: the canopy walk and thermal baths. Both were thoroughly enjoyable for our group!
My only complaint is that the property is overly lit up with bright lights at night, which required us to pull our blinds for sleep. While I understand the need to provide lighting for walkway safety at night, as an eco resort the lodge might investigate wildlife- friendly lighting options using less bright bulbs. Visitors would be able to hear more wildlife at night that way.
