The location was wonderful. It's maybe five minutes walk from the train station and seven minutes walk from the bus station. I went to Dover by bus on the day we arrived and to the Leeds Castle by train the next day. The hotel was very conveniently located. The breakfast was amazing. I had avocado toast which was super tasty. There was also a buffet which my husband enjoyed. The staff was very nice and friendly. I enjoyed talking about my experience of getting lost in the maze at the Leeds Castle with a lovely receptionist, who shared her childhood memory with me. When I get a chance to visit Canterbury again, I would definitely love to stay with them again.

Our room was outside the main building and there was a little step to get into the building where our room was. We visited Canterbury for a couple of days as part of our three weeks trip in Europe. My suitcase was rather heavy and it was a bit of struggle to lift it up.

Perfectly located, just a few blocks from the train station (a very easy stroll with your trolley), and a stones throw from Westgate and the High Street. Great restaurants nearby, and the bus stop to get to Whitstable just across the street. Some nice updates to the main building which used to be a 15th century coach inn. Fantastic breakfast included, and a very reasonable happy hour at the bar downstairs for a pre-dinner drink.

The room was a bit different than the photos we saw of sample rooms, perhaps a bit older (some wallpaper peeling near the windows), but still nicely furnished and decorated. Front desk sometimes not attended, so we had to wait to drop luggage or check out.

Clean, comfy, convenient, great facilities, great bar, relaxed

Breakfast service. The food was fine but the service, whilst looking efficient, was anything but. It doesn't matter what time you have booked breakfast, every guest pays the same amount and should have the same choice and the same service. The continental buffet was not replenished with food, juices or crockery. We were not given menus until we asked for them and we had to get cutlery from other tables because none was provided to ours. The staff gave every appearance of listening to us, but actually failed to do so on several occasions. This is a shame as we loved the hotel.

How clean and comfortable the room and bed was. Being in a central location to see the sights. A few minutes walk from the train station.

We stayed for 4 nights and twice we had problems being served breakfast first what I ordered at breakfast didn't arrive but saw others that arrived later being served theirs, i decided to get a pastry rather than hang around any longer. Second time was told to wait out side the breakfast room while plates were being cleared, then we were forgotten again and saw others going in before us, so it seemed very unorganised. But the breakfast I did have while there was lovely.

It’s very well located near the centre of Canterbury. I stayed in room 2..a cosy double. The room was nicely presented…it was a smaller room and that was ok for 2 nights but if I was staying longer I’d choose a larger room. The bed was comfortable and tea, coffee and biscuits were regularly topped up. I enjoyed my stay. It was up on the second floor..there’s a lower, narrower approach..there’s no lift. But it’s an old property and you’d expect this type of thing. Breakfast was good..a range of continental and cooked food.

Not really a problem but I’d prefer a few more practical drawers in the room…there are hangers and some shallow drawers. Generally there wasn’t anything I didn’t like about it.

Facilities were fantastic

After waiting a couple of minutes at the bar, I asked is anyone serving. Three staff members behind the bar in evening were to busy with dealing with a large order that they had taken, so I was informed. What frustrated myself was that no one acknowledged us while we were waiting to be served, which was disappointing as when I asked is anyone serving, I was told were dealing with a large order currently and yes but my other colleague is also serving currently. Even more frustrating was the attitude when we were eventually served by the member of staff. Unfortunately no one acknowledged us waiting and said we will be with you as we’re all busy currently. Everything else in the hotel was great

Loved the breakfasts and the service by the staff. They were welcoming and very helpful with check in, parking and ensuring we had everything we asked for. Best eggs Benedict I have had in a while and my husband loved the cooked breakfast. Great mixologist who made us beautiful cocktails as well. The hotel is in a very old building and the location by Westgate is perfect for sightseeing by foot from... It was the best location.

The room was smaller than I expected and as we stayed in some of the hottest days of the year, it was like an oven, facing the sun all day! Sadly, there were cobwebs in the room too. However, the four poster bed was comfortable to sleep on.

A nice pub on the edge of the city centre, in easy walking distance of the cathedral and other sights. The room was comfortable with a modern bathroom, well decorated. Decently well equipped for a 3 star hotel. Parking at the back is handy and it’s close to the railway station. Breakfast good when it arrived.

TV didn’t work properly - fault on the sound. Staff a little uninterested and breakfast service was incredibly slow. It was a little busy, but with three staff it should have been quicker. Room had no air con and window wouldn’t open, although there was a fan. WiFi a little slow. Overrall a pleasant stay, but a bit overpriced and staff need better training . Also surprising no restaurant on site for the evening - it’s only a bar

The staff at the Falstaff were exceptional! Very friendly and helpful. I had an issue with my room and it was dealt with in a prompt and efficient manner. The room I had was wonderful with plenty of amenities and felt comfortable to stay in throughout my stay. Falstaff's location was excellent - I travelled via train into Canterbury West and it was a short walk to the hotel. Each day I went out and toured Canterbury I never felt I had to spend long travelling back to the hotel.

N/A - service and hotel fascilities were exceptional!

We went to Canterbury to visit an animal park nearby. Due to mobility issues I was worried about driving there and back (to Brighton) in one day so we decided to make a little trip of it for my birthday. My sister had arranged the room to be decorated, she lives in LA so this was a big surprise and the hotel staff did a great job, I've never had that experience so although it felt surreal it was also very special! The bath was amazing for my muscles after the trip to the animal park, and we found a cat cafe not far from the hotel so managed to fit that in as well as a little wander. The bed was so comfortable with really soft sheets, we were both actually quite sad to have to leave it behind! The staff were all friendly, and breakfast was really good. I don't normally bother but due to the day trip I didn't want to be really hungry and there were sweet touches like mini jam jars and mini croissants (I'm a sucker for a miniature!)

Not much!! We slept really well despite being between other pubs and bars, although it rained heavily so I don't know what it would be like in the summer. The room was lovely and comfortable. I suppose the only thing was the caffetiere was too small as we really like a huge coffee, but that's just splitting hairs because everything else was great!
