Oftentimes, online photos can be misleading but when I got to the hostel, it was really beautiful just like in the photos. There's always someone in the reception to attend to guest queries and the staff are very professional. They have a "mini-mart" where you can buy some drinks, chips, noodles, etc. (there is also a 7-11 right around the corner if you want more options) It's a co-working hostel so if you're on a "workcation", there's ample space for you to get your work done. They have a huge lounge and working area plus a cafe and they host different activities everyday. The kitchen is well-equipped, like you can literally find anything you need for cooking or reheating your food. I like how they provide a healthy breakfast - there's always a side of salad and fruits with whatever they're serving for the day. The amount (for me) is just right - enough to get you thru to lunch but also not too much or heavy that you feel sluggish after eating. They're approximately 5 minutes away from Taipei Main Station and there are some bus stops nearby so getting around the city is very convenient. The surrounding areas are well-lit and I never had any issues walking alone at night as a solo traveler. The 8-bed dorm I stayed at shares a common bathroom (2 showers and 2 toilets) with another dorm but in my week-long stay, it never felt crowded and I never had to queue up if I need to use either one of those facilities. They have thick mattresses with matching thick duvets so you can get a really good sleep after a long tiring day of exploring the city (no bed bugs too!) They have a great system in keeping the hostel clean - you need to change into sleepers (provided) before entering the main lounge, only water is allowed inside the rooms, they have several bins for proper garbage/waste segregation and I would see housekeeping staff cleaning up during random times of the day (not just during check-out time).

This isn't really a con for me but more of an observation, although it is a co-working hostel and they have different activities, everyday, the place doesn't have a very "social feel' to it. Even if there's music or a movie playing or guests hanging out at the common areas, it still has a quiet vibe - which can be great or not, depending on what you're looking for in a hostel.

The location was great. A few minutes by foot from Taipei main train station, which can link you directly to the airport and other major cities. It's surrounded by shops, restaurants and coffee shops. It's a very vibrant neighbourhood. Highly recommend this location, for a few nights to transit. The staff is super kind and helpful. Always there to recommend local places and have a small chat. They allow you to store your bags and to stay in the lounge, before check-in/after check-out. It's a 24/7 reception, which is great if you have a plane or train to catch. The shared space is fun and vibrant, and is very inviting. It allows you to meet people, with shared tables and daily organised activities (movie night, etc.). However, if you want you own space and work, it does offer that too. It's a very multifunctional space. The shared kitchen is quite big and very clean, and is fully equipped. It also has free snacks, coffees and teas. The complimentary breakfast is made daily with a wide range of food, and offers vegetarian and vegan options The ONLY female bunk bed room is quite spacious, with a locker big enough for big bags/ small luggages. The bed itself is relatively big and quite comfortable. The shared bathroom is kept very tidy and clean, and is spacious (includes shampoo/shower gel). The whole female ONLY space feels very safe and private, as it has a closed door, allowing ONLY female to enter. Unlike mentioned on the website, they do offer towels for free, as well as other several bathroom amenities.

This hostel was amazing. When I first arrived, the staff welcome me with so much warmth and friendliness. Especially Lulu was super nice and helpful, she gave me a great introduction about the hostel; and also in the days I stayed, she was always there to help. The breakfast is also really good. Every day they have a different menu with a nice platter of a main and fruits. It was always a great start to my days. The location is very central. Few mins from the central station, so you can go everywhere easily. Also walking distance to night markets, many stores, cafes and a mall. Rooms was also nice. Enough for 1 person to stay.

Close to a small marketplace and a convenience store that accepts international bank cards. The staff at the front desk are very knowledgeable about the area and can give you great recommendations. There is a storage room if you have any extra baggage you don't want to take to your room. As for the property itself, this hostel is VERY clean with a warm atmosphere. Besides the relaxing and aesthetically-pleasing common area, there is a dining room open in mornings and evenings for self-service dinner. They offer free breakfasts served in 3 intervals (8:00, 8:40, and 9:20); if you have an early flight, toast and coffee is provided in the open kitchen area that you can serve yourself. Make sure you reserve ASAP, because this property is EXTREMELY popular, especially in peak seasons!

My only complaint is if you're assigned a room on the 5th floor, you will have to carry your luggage over a flight of stairs. Keep that in mind if you have heavy baggage! Otherwise, everything else is PERFECT.

Very clean and good privacy with double rooms. Perfect size for a solo traveller. Comes with the basic amenities. Also got some street view so managed to get some night view out the window. Located very near the Taipei Main Station (both MRT and airport) so very handy to get to places. Located on a street with small restaurants and handy 7-eleven within 1 minute walking distance. Open common area also very clean. Enjoyed the breakfast provided, one less thing to worry about! Friendly staff was definitely a bonus.

Not the best laundry facilities. It is located on the top floor and is outdoors, so can get a bit scary at night if alone. The washing machine and dryer is old, but still does the trick.

Really nice place. The room was cozy and comfortable and the common areas were very nice, with a homely feel that encouraged guests to chat with each other and make new friends. Very clean and modern, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great, right next to the main station and in an area with lots of interesting streets.

The breakfast could do with more options. Guests are served a set plate of food, and then can add bread and spreads buffet-style. There is also tea, coffee, juice and soy milk. Just a few extra things like eggs, salad etc would have made a big difference.

The beds are big, super comfy with curtains for privacy, and the women’s bathroom was clean and convenient. There is shampoo and bodywash available and they offer you a towel for free. The lounge/living room was super spacious (with bean bags and even a video console) and there was also a kitchen to get some tea or cutlery. The reception team are also very lovely and willing to give you some great recommendations for places. The free breakfast is always appreciated but you’ll need to get there early!

One thing to note is the atmosphere is very much everyone to themselves and self-occupied. It’s not really a social hostel. There isn’t a strong promotion of group outdoor activity (which is a great way to break the ice) however, I did see an event poster for elephant mountain hiking tour.

Everything is excellent here! So close to the main station, staff always super helpful, wifi good enough for a zoom call in my room and streaming. Great kitchen and communal area facilities and free breakfast set up is fab. I’m so pleased I stayed here and would stay again if in Taiwan again. Did 2 of the hostel events which really helped me get to know and feel safe in the local area. Highly recommend!

The only small note is the sink in my room made odd noises I think when my neighbour was using their sink. It’s my only comment and wouldn’t put me off staying again. The building is old so to be expected.

From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and the friendly staff who went out of their way to make me feel welcome. The accommodations were fantastic—my room was spotlessly clean and had a wonderfully comfy bed. The common spaces, were perfect for relaxing and meeting fellow travelers. Highlight of my stay was the delicious cooked breakfast each morning. It was a great way to start the day and fuel up for exploring the city. I would absolutely stay at any Star Hostel properties again and highly recommend them to other travelers. You won't be disappointed!

really great atmosphere, very nice staff, great breakfast, i loved the common room, so couy and stylish. bedroom for all girls was really nice, too, very clean. Air conditioners were too cold for me, but that was a problem I had everywhere in Taiwan. I really liked the no street shoes in the living area rule . also the kitchen was great, spacious with free little snacks:) also i loved it so much i returned for a second stay, this time it was a single room, it was perfect, very comfy, tidy, bright, so so good. also location is perfect, very close to the train station, shopping mall and seven eleven
