The room was better than expected, very comfortable. The bed was huge, and the sofa bed was also a good size and comfortable. We all slept very well. The bathroom was a good size and well equipped. Wifi worked well, and the staff were very attentive. Large car park is very convenient.

The food was average at best, could definitely do much better.

Really nice place and staff

Not the property’s fault but had a very noisy family gathering in and kids were running back and forwards through restaurant several times during our meal and lots of running around above our room late on same family hogged the continental breakfast table

Good choice of type of seating in bar and restaurant areas. Quiet room, in spite of being on main street, and room bigger than expected. Very pleased to have a bath not just shower. Staff generally were very friendly, all except the manager who gave the impression that guests were a necessary nuisance. Huge car park, plenty of space.

Nowhere to hang long clothes eg women's dresses. Bathroom very run down, rusty shower pole and in need of regrouting. Shower only accessible by climbing into slippery bath. The only easily accessible power socket was near the kettle. Carpets throughout very old and worn into big holes in places. Loud, piped pop music all the time in the downstairs areas, no quiet places - even in the loos ☹. Food was ok but no checks done before service. Avocado served brown with a broken poached egg. Sweet potato chips overcooked and soggy.

Lovely old room with multiple beams on all the walls and ceiling. I asked for beams, but was initially a little overwhelmed by just how many there were! however it did not feel at all dark and dingy or unclean and musty. The beams were actually really clean so I soon settled into them. A bit weird having the tea an coffee set up inside the wardrobe, but surprised to also have a little fridge, which was very handy. Old style but good shower, and great deep sink, so could actually get the kettle under the tap! Good cooked breakfast, served quite quick, and a very good selection of help-yourself items too. Good location with eateries and convenience store right opposite. And the castle (for which I came to an event) just down the road. Plenty of parking.

A lot more than I would usually pay for a room as a single occupant. Pillows were hard. For such a small village, it has the buzz of a town, the bar opposite seemed very rowdy outside until really late both nights. Shame the window wasn't bigger to allow for more natural light, but in such a lovely old historic building there's not a lot they could do about that!

Room and building was lovely with it's own unique character and staff were very welcoming. Residents have own access after hours so great place to use as a base to explore the area without worrying about being back for a certain time.

Went to breakfast 30mins before closing and were the only people there. Staff were busy with other duties so not as attentive as they could have been..Ordered the full breakfast, wasn't asked how we wanted our eggs and we obviously got whatever was left as the fried egg I was served had no yolk (but did have a hair on it). The single slice of bacon was dry and quite fatty but the sausages made up for it. Last serving for breakfast should be the same standard as the first for £11 a plate but that was the only negative for the whole stay.

Mark greeted us to check us in and then showed us our room. He was very friendly and efficient .We had booked for lunch and were shown to our table, the food came within a good time and was really nice. We slept really well and the room was comfortable and clean with everything you could want - iron, hairdryer, toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities. There was a brilliant choice of breakfast , continental and cooked - the poached eggs were great ! We will definitely be back ! Thank you for a wonderful stay !

The building had a very cozy vibe and was very comfortable. It’s in a lovely little place that feels very homely

The only issue we had was in the restaurant, we ordered food and after 30 mins of waiting for our starters the waitress explained that the new trainee chef missed our order so we had to wait a little longer. I believe we should have been offered some form of discount on our meal due to a long wait time. But they were very apologetic about the situation which was good.

Lovely old building with lots of history in the heart of the town. Big and easily accessible car park. Nice pub with spacious layout and good atmosphere. Our room (#2) was comfortable with old beams, space and character. Had a lovely evening meal with friendly service and excellent foods and very reasonably priced wine. Excellent breakfast. Tutbury is a lovely small town with its ruined castle, beautiful church and nice pubs. We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stop .

The shower plumbing was typically British and tricky to get a shower that wasn’t either boiling hot or icy cold but were British so it didn’t really bother us!!

The room I had was comfortable with historic character. The breakfast was Great. We had a good dinner, but did wonder if it wasn't the regular chef as it wasn't as good as we were hoping. Great choice of beers.

Being tall I hit my head a few times on the small doors into my room and bathroom. But I learnt by the third time to walk with a hunch LOL. The bathroom needed a bit of attention in terms of painting. There were also a few spots of mould, but the room was clean.

Great location , charming hotel, decor , lovely staff , food was delicious. The room was spacious. It is in a village setting , so shops around if necessary . For those who arrive by car, there is free parking at the rear of the property .

There are stairs to the rooms , yet it is an old property , so it is to be expected . The fact that it's an old property , gives it the old world charming aspect .
