The owner was responding promptly to my messages for the advance organization of my stay and she is very kind. The hostel is centrally located, not far from the bus stop. The room was nice, although I saw a cockroach in the toilet. Small breakfast yet tasty (the main problem was that it was outdoor with insects attacking you).

When I arrived the gate of the hostel was already closed, but travelling is like this: I had a problem for the ride to Dambulla, schedules may be hectic and a bit unpredictable (sending them a message would have been enough, but it’s not always easy therefore if by reservation there is a guest to be arriving, then you should give an eye at the entrance door). They have dogs in the property, which is not a good idea. I wanted to rent a motorbike, but the one they offered me was not working well (problems with the engine): I chose safety and didn’t rent the motorbike, but this caused me huge time constrains for exploring the area.

A memorable stay at the Sujatha Tourist Rest hotel. I only stayed one night, but this stay remains memorable for me, since the owner Ruvini was present and helpful at every moment. It was the new year and with all restaurants closed, she cooked us a delicious meal for all the residents, as well as a Sri Lankan lunch the next morning. It's unforgettable. Regarding the stay, the room is very clean, the bed is very comfortable, and the air conditioning is very effective. I even felt cold! The hotel environment is very relaxing and spacious to rest. You can refill your water bottle for free and have access to a refrigerator. The hotel is easy to find and is only a few minutes from the main road. From the main road, you can walk to the bus station and then go to Sigirya and see Lion Rock for less than 100 rupees, or take a tuk-tuk for 2000 rupees. For my part, I took the bus marked Dambula/Sigirya (16 km / 30-45 min every 30 minutes). You can get off directly at the park entrance. Additionally, you can go by bike (5-6 km) to see the 5 Dambula Caves and the Golden Temple. Ruvini can rent you a bike for the day, amazing! Otherwise, you can take a tuk-tuk as it's not far, or take a bus. The Golden Temple is on the main road, so you can take a tuk-tuk (or your bike) to go to the 5 caves ticket office and get there (300 steps). Beautiful ! The room’s value for money is excellent! I recommend this hotel without hesitation! Enjoy your stay and say hello to Ruvini for me, Renaud from Quebec.

Le manque d’eau chaude mais d’un autre côté c’est rafraîchissant :)

Run by a nice family. Mother didn't understand much English but was nice. The daughter was very helpful with WiFi, bus directions etc. Decent breakfast. When they overheard me talking on the phone that it was my birthday, a young boy gave me a small gift, and they didn't charge me for extra coffee. I said a number of times that they should charge more for the room (something I have never said before). They said they are trying to rebuild business after Covid. Very central location.

Some plumbing issues. A hole in the window net (to allow opening/closing the window) could easily let a mouse in.

A wonderful, peaceful and friendly place to stay. The location is just a short walk from the city center where you can find restaurants, shops and transportation. But it’s very quiet here. In the morning you hear birds singing, and at night some crickets and frogs. All around is greenery, and there’s a pleasant garden to sit and read or relax and drink a tea. The rooms are clean and good value. And the best part are the warm, hospitable and generous owners. I planned to stay for two days but ended up staying for five because I enjoyed it so much. And I’m looking forward to returning.

I loved my time there, they are very nice and helpful family and I could see they love animals too which increased my interest in staying there. Hope Oreo the cat can be rescued and becomes the new member of the hostal and looking forward to seeing photos of him managing the business

WiFi worked fine, place was close to the restaurants. There's a bus stop a few min away that takes you to Sigirya. There's a station to fill up your water bottle. Sweet and super helpful owners, she gave me coffee upon arrival and let me check in earlier.

There was a small hole in the bathroom through which some frogs paid a visit

Very pretty property with nice garden. It’s close to the main road, but still feels quiet and relaxing. Nice welcome, cozy room, with clean bathroom and hot water. Super friendly people and cute animals. Also we could leave our backpacks there for some hours.

one more power outlet in the room would bet nice. But there are more outside of the room
