food was nice at breakfast if you could get round the dogs everywhere. nice clean new hotel but cant see it will stay that way with dogs everywhere

dogs everywhere. it is completely inappropriate for animals to be in the food area at breakfast. there were a lot of people complaining to each other about this. i cannot see how you get a food hygiene certificate by allowing dogs to literally go up to the buffet and then watch them eat off the floor. only one member of staff on sunday morning told them to leave the area. it is also unfair that just because you have a dog you get reserved seating areas by the window. other people had to queue.

They were having a soft opening so got a great deal and was so well looked after. The staff were really lovely and so helpful. They were having a few teething issues with systems and the like but it didn't matter. They were charming and really went the extra mile. The hotel itself is lovely and so far removed from what I'm used to having to stay in when visiting family in Paignton. I'm so glad the Mercure has arrived!!! At last, somewhere decent to stay. :-)

Good location, nice breakfast I am gluten free & there was gluten free porridge, toast & other items available just needed to ask the staff. Would also like to say a big thank you to Shaun the maintenance gentleman for sorting out the problem we had with the heating/air conditioning in our room, he was really friendly & helpful & nothing was too much trouble

Room was cold in the evenings as the cool air kept overriding the heat temperature, we had to ask reception 3 times before it was sorted out. We were given welcome drinks which was nice.

The staff and hotel are absolutely brilliant! The breakfast was great and plentiful. You may have to wait for refills but that is down to the volume of customers. I will say, the customers do forget the staff are working hard in a minimum wage environment which is currently struggling to employ staff in the UK! Please be more patient and courtesy costs nothing. Rude customers ( which I saw) need to change their attitude and manner! My only slight issue was the hotel rooms were very warm ( they have temperature controls) but I could not seem to get our room cool.

The rooms, lovely staff, plentiful food at breakfast

Lovely bedrooms, we had one with a sofa bed and it was nice and spacious, modern and clean. Excellent location right on the beach front. Easy to find, easy to park in the car park. As it was Christmas the hotel was beauty decorated.

Only slight let down was the continental side of the breakfast. What was served was nice, pastries, fruit, yog, cereal, but nothing extra special like chocolate spread, pancakes, crumpets, waffles, selection of breads. But there was oddly cucumber and peppers ... but breakfast was still nice and staff were friendly. I requested a vegetarian sausage which came quickly.

On arrival, we were greeted by an exceptional member of the reception staff called Avauthi. She was so kind and friendly. She went above and beyond to make sure our stay was the best possible experience. It was lovely to see her through out our stay, she always made the effort to greet us and made us feel so welcome. I hope that management of The Mercure are able to personally recognise what an absolute assest Avauthi is for representing the hotel to the highest standard of person centred hospitality. Thank you.

At a real push to find something, I did struggle with the room being so warm. The thermostat seemed to be at 20°C without being able to reduce the temperature. It would be good if customers can alter the room temperature with more flexibility. Again, that's just mine and my husband's personal preference. It was super warm.

Good breakfast Great location and sea view

Booked meal in restaurant which was quite busy so staff seemed to struggle to cope. Had very long wait to get served and to get our food. Went elsewhere for a meal the following evening.

Great breakfast, location is easy walk from station and right on the seafront by the pier. Very modern and comfortable rooms and nice layout with lots of lounge areas in the lobby to gather with family and friends. Really nicely decorated for Christmas. Great friendly staff, enjoyable stay.

Be aware, there is a high number of dog owners using the hotel and dogs will be around in all the public areas including the restaurant and lifts. This was a bit concerning for us as we unfortunately have a few major pet allergy sufferers in our extended group and didn't like having dogs close to us in the restaurant.

The toiletries were lovely comfortable bed.fresh bedding and towels

The menu for evening meal the same choices every day No hand sanitizer for guests to use on way in for food. There were 2 regular guests in wheelchairs the speed they were going was not acceptable, only time will tell when they injure a child or guest I did complain to the receptionist. These women are regular they even approached me when having my breakfast asking if I got any disability. It us something I don't need to be asked and not happy the way they came on to me and other guests. Not a good start to my Holiday.

My wife and I had a lovely long weekend stay in the Mercure Hotel and it really lived up to our expectations. The location of the Hotel is great with it being on the sea front. We had a lovely sea view room, with a great view across the green to the sea. The service was excellent and the breakfast and evening meals in the hotel were delicious. The location of the hotel is brilliant, it is only a few minutes walk to the centre of town, the train station and the Bus station. There are number of restaurants and cafe's located next door to the hotel or within a few minutes walk from the hotel. We had a great time and we would recommend it to anyone, we would certainly consider going again.

We have no negative comments about the hotel.
