Having had a nightmare with accommodation in the area, I managed to book this bunkhouse last minute. This is not your standard bunkhouse, it was really well kept and really well presented in a room above the Inn. Bedding supplied with tea coffee etc too. The staff were really welcoming and even squeezed me in for a meal in the Inn despite not booking in advance and walking into a very busy restaurant. The food was amazing! On top of that, I had an early start and had to be out before breakfast was served. They very kindly left some breakfast cereals, toast, juice etc out on the bar so I could help myself in the morning. Fantastic service and really welcoming and friendly hosts

This was our second visit to The Sun having stayed there the week before on our way to Scotland. The Sun is a little gem tucked away in the village of Newton Reigny just three miles form Penrith. My wife and I received a warm welcome from the very friendly and helpful staff and were shown to our room, a deluxe which was spotless, spacious, bright and with a very comfortable large bed. The Sun is a well supported local pub with a good range of beers. The wide variety of excellent dishes available in the restaurant are home prepared of a high quality with large portions at a very reasonable price together with an excellent hearty breakfast. Overall we had a wonderful stay at The Sun and would recommend it to people who wish to explore north Cumbria or like us as a stop off to break up a long journey.

If we’d known about country & western evening when booking we wouldn’t have because we wanted a quiet night away to celebrate our anniversary. Music was extremely loud in our room until midnight and noises/clearing up until 1am. We only found out when tried to book table for meal. Special events/evenings need to be advertised beforehand so we can decide.

Great little local pub. The land lady was really accommodating when we asked to arrange an early check in. Staff were so welcoming and friendly. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The room was cosy, very clean and comfortable. Just perfect for an overnight stay. My husband loved the selection of beers on offer and the pub area was really warm and welcoming with a friendly atmosphere. Our trip was finished off with a wonderful full English breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

Very warm & comfortable clean & great bar/food. Was a little noisy but to be expected. Staff excellent Jane very helpful. I was over for mountain navigation training in Lake District this was about 30mins away so fitted the brief well. A lovely lively little place to get a good rest & be well looked after

Adam Day offers you an Exceptional stay with upkeep & cleanliness by Sharon and recently refurbished modern bedrooms with on suite, giving you a very comfortable nights sleep , very friendly bar staff also Ken the chef cooks excellent poached eggs giving you an excellently cooked breakfast and also have amenities for evening meals,staff are very amenable and nothing is any bother, the sunn inn has plenty of room for parking on the premises, location is approx 15 mins to Pooley Bridge /Ullswater lake & minutes from Penrith town centre , excellent location, definitely will be staying again in the future,if they let me back 😜👍

Close enough to Penrith to visit family as intended. Shower was good. Breakfast was excellent, albeit disturbed by room being set up for carvery.

Room was acceptable but wall over bed looked damp. Cost of room was expensive for what it was, however it was still the cheapest in the area. (School holiday period and proximity to lake district probably accounted for this)

This is a typical cosy English country inn: the accommodation is not sophisticated, but warm, welcoming and comfortable. Good breakfast and very friendly service. Maybe some fresh fruit could be provided?

A faulty tap was mended within an hour of our mentioning it, but we hadn't noticed until we left that the u-bend under the sink was also leaking and some of our things got wet. But that's definitely all.

The Sun is a proper village pub. Warm and welcoming with a log fire. Great range of beer and at good prices. The breakfast choices were good a really good cooked Cumbrian option. The evening menu offered a good range with a big choice of more unusual dishes. The pies are outstanding in both choice and size. Highly recommended.

It was so good to see a country pub so busy busy but for some it could be a bit noisy late at night.

Welcoming country pub. Lovely restaurant area with excellent dinner and breakfast. Double room en-suite, large shower gorgeous comfy bedding. This was a one night stop over during our drive to Scotland.

There were quite a few annoying flies around while we were eating our delicious breakfast! No idea why !? maybe bin area outside needs looking at
