What a wonderful hotel we are so pleased that we stayed here just disappointed that it was only for the 2 nights. We stayed in Johannesburg to break up the journey from the UK and before we went on safari in Zambia and in addition we hadn't visited Johannesburg previously. The Parkwood is in a safe neighbour (you are free to wander locally during the day but best to book an Uber in the evenings) but also has wonderful security. The hotel is really well decorated, well maintained and has some lovely communal sitting areas around a small pool and after a long journey we spent several hours just chilling out. From the moment we arrived all the team were so helpful - we were very lucky that we were able to check in early (not something we expected - would have been just happy to drop our bags off) and were looked after from that moment until we left. It was great to meet and chat with Sarah who was happy to provide recommendations on restaurants / activities. The rooms are sizeable each with a small private outdoor courtyard and lovely bathroom. Breakfasts were a mix of cold buffett and you could order a selection of hot breakfast dishes along with toast - all freshly made. The Parkwood is a fabulous hotel - you won't be disappointed .... we weren't.

The location is well centered and it is quick to travel to the city's / town's attractions, like malls, zoo etc. The venue itself, though it is located inside of a busy area, is quite and peaceful. Gardens, pools and décor is so well maintained and the security is great and the staff is really helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is amazing. The food was good and the bed comfortable.

Very little was out of place. The bathroom dimming lights were slightly difficult to operate and the aircon did not work, most likely due to load shedding and didn't really affect our stay at all. Other than that, everything was great.

It is in a safe area, close to Rosebank Mall. It has 24/7 security services. One is able to enjoy a jog in and around the area. It has enough parking space. It has 2 swimming pools that are well managed. It offers a lot of therapeutic options. It has indoor and outdoor showers. It has a Spa Treatment. It also has a Library section with lots of books. It has a lot of benches for fresh air. It also has an Honesty Bar.

Although there is a generator, on the executive rooms, the electricity would often trip after load shedding.

Parkwood's amazing location, combined with its stunning gardens and top-notch facilities, made our stay truly unforgettable. The accommodation was not only beautiful but also incredibly comfortable. The personal service we received, especially from the kind and attentive staff like JP, was exceptional. The breakfast at the property was fantastic, enhancing our overall experience. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again!

Ideal location, possible to venture out by foot to restaurants, shopping, and spa. Super friendly and helpful staff with a personal touch, making the stay comfortable and memorable. It was very nice to chill on the terrace with a book and tea. I also liked the beverages area where I could make myself tea or coffee or get a cold drink.

The breakfast options were quite limited. Admittedly, it would have been relatively easy to get breakfast outside in a coffee shop, but we chose not to and stayed in the comfort of the hotel.

Breakfast was okay, although choice was limited. Very homely and relaxing place to be, quiet to the point we were surprised to see other people there. Really liked the separate courtyard and outdoor shower to our room. Sarah very kindly gave us an upgrade before our arrival which was a lovely surprise. Thank you for a lovely stay I was sad to leave!

More variety for hot breakfast.

This was a recommendation from a friend so I decided to check in for a few nights. My room was cosy and cute with underfloor heating for those cold Johannesburg mornings. The owners were utterly delightful and introduced themselves and clearly very proud. The breakfast was sumptuous and thank you to JP for fantastic interactions.

Everything was perfect

We unfortunately only stayed over one night, but would have gladly stayed longer. The whole experience was a pleasure. Beautifully decorated and spacious room, very tasty breakfast and great service. I read about JP on previous reviews and can confirm that he is as delighted as everyone else has indicated. Would highly recommend this accommodation!

The staff and the comfort of the hotel as well as the gardens and security were very good.

My only issue was with the breakfast which was rather miserable. The eggs shortage due to avian flu was understandable but to run out of much of the rest that should have been available was very disappointing. The good coffees did somewhat make up for it but the standard was way below expectations and the cost of the extra 2 breakfasts was out of line for what was served.

Beautifully appointed and welcoming lobby. The room was equally lovely. Enjoyed immensely the private patio and outdoor shower. Unanticipated luxury at reasonable rates. Exceptionally comfortable bed and plush sheets and towels. Staff went above and beyond to please and assist.

It was perfect in every way.
