Great service, great food, lovely rooms, and friendly atmosphere with a feel of being in little England

The Clovelly Bungalow dates back to 1835 but is in the grounds of the 5* luxury resort, the Golden Ridge. So you have the best of both worlds: stay in colonial era accommodation and bring back the vibes of when tea was first planted in Sri Lanka, but have three different eating options, two great bars, an incredible swimming pool (the views!), a gym and a spa. For a family, the rooms themselves are a little small, but have everything you need, and you also have access to two drawing rooms to relax in, including one with an open fire for those winter evenings. Should you be lucky enough to have the bungalow to yourself, then you'll have all the space you need. And look out for Manola in the main dining room, one of the loveliest, friendliest and most passioate young waiters you could ever meet: brilliant English and so engaging with guests - he's an incredible asset to the Golden Ridge team.

Absolutely nothing. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the area around Nuwara Eliya, and the blend between colonial and modern is amazing. Just a great place to stay, to have fulsome days and then come back and relax.

Our honeymoon stay at the Golden Ridge Hotel surpassed all expectations, thanks to the exceptional service provided Manjula Perera and his dedicated team. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality, setting the tone for a truly unforgettable experience. attention to detail and personalised service made us feel like valued guests throughout our stay. Anticipating our needs and went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our stay was perfect. The culinary offerings Were fabulous thanks to each and every hardworking chef at the hotel, especially the Indian style chicken curry served for breakfast. A beautiful heritage property with a history. Comfortable 4 poster bed. Buffet breakfast had an extensive choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Spot is scenic.

The fact that it is now run by the The Golden Ridge Hotel and that the access to the bungalow is through the hotel was not clearly communicated. And so we had to go around in circles a few times before we found the place. Unfortunately the views on the website don't tell you that the bungalow is surrounded by high rise buildings belonging to the main hotel. We were in the Premium King. On arrival the toilet that had been used by someone was still dirty and housekeeping had to be rushed in to clean it. Not a good feel. A double jacuzzi takes up almost the whole bathroom space and looked like that too could do with a good clean. The shower cubicle in such a large bathroom is very cramped and water flows out of it. Needs attention.

We couldn’t stay at the Clovelly Bungalow because of emergency repairs to our room so we were accommodated in the Victoria Bungalow for one night and then the Golden Ridge Hotel. Staff did try their best, but it all felt a little impersonal and we were disappointed. We had specifically chosen the Clovelly because of its small size and heritage atmosphere and while the facilities at the Golden Ridge are nice, we hadn’t expected to spend our holiday in a modern hotel with massive crowds.

Not being able to experience the Clovelly Bungalow, the open fireplaces and other features which we had been looking forward to! The website should make clear that the Clovelly Bungalow is part of a large, mass tourism hotel complex, and not a stand-alone heritage property.

The hotel property is fabulous! It is so classy and I would rate it 7 star. It is new and every department has ensured that it stays that way - housekeeping, gardening etc. The decor, crockery / cutlery is distinctly beautiful. The heated swimming pool is awesome. The staff are all smiling and friendly. It’s a great place to stay and total value for money!

The Clovelly bungalow per se, which is attached to the hotel property is beautiful, but old and kind of dysfunctional- geyser, locker, phone, door locking/ safety etc…. Nothing seemed to work! The hotel staff lack in their knowledge of English and general training, so much so responses/ actions are impacted. Another huge area for improvement is the food. A good spread, but bland food. We are in Srilanka, the land of spices. We need more spice in each of the items pl!

Everything about this property is exceptional.. Its looks, Its location, Its rooms, the whole feeling is just mind blowing. More than everything the clovelly bungalow’s hospitality is the best so far !! The moment you enter in the hotel they will make you feel like king and queen.. We met with Dilruksi at the reception and she took care of enire process seamlessly.. She is very kind and warm.. In simple word AMAZING !! We are so glad that we picked this Bunglow in beautiful city of Nuwara Eliya.. It truly made our experience 10X Better.

Not even a single thing.. This is the BEST so far

The Staff were amazing. Anusha from front office welcomed us as we checked was a lovely host. Nishantha and his team from housekeeping were equally fantastic. The place is so cozy and warm. The food was nice too. We had the breakfast buffet at the hotel restaurant and a few meals at the Sackville bar & restaurant. Both were of good quality. The waiting staff were great in both places. Altogether an awesome experience. Planning to head there again in December.

Lovely staff, trying to fix a fire for us at it was pooring rain when we arrived. The Clovelly Bungalows belongs to a larger hotel complex, which was not opened yet when we stayed. The Bungalow offers 7 rooms and a beautiful living room area. During our stay our family occupied 2 rooms and we had the entire bungalow to ourselves. Quite mondane..For breakfast we were spoilt, again being the only guests we were treated to European and singhalese breakfast, all with a great misty view of the tea plantations.

Getting to a restaurant for dinner was a bit tricky, as there was no staff available to call a Tuk Tuk and we ended up walking a few km into town. This will surely become easier when the hotel has opened.

I absolutely loved everything The location , cleanliness , accomodation, food ,and kindness of all the team, especially Dananjaya , Dulshani , Dilshan , everybody was extremely kind , friendly and helpful. Thank you for everything I really recommend this lovely hotel
