I believe we were given an upgraded room which was very nicely decorated and a good size having a settee and chairs. The room was separate to the inn. The old inn was very welcoming, low beams and again tastefully decorated, we had a lovely breakfast there. We were just staying the one night prior to flight out of Stansted.

Unfortunately we both found the bed uncomfortable and I did end up sleeping on the settee. There was also footfall noise from upstairs, earplugs were provided but we didn't need them as occupants obviously settled down for the night and were only heard again in the morning.

We thought it would be a room above a pub, but it was much better. We had an enormous bedroom across the street in a converted bungalow. Could park the car 10 feet away, so readily accessible. Room was warm, well stocked with goodies. Check in was effortless, and we were well looked after in the restaurant by a very nice lady. Breakfast was nice too, and also a nice lady there serving us.

On the second night the nice lady was not there, the restaurant being 'run' by some youngsters who gave very poor service. They were totally inattentive to our existence, and if I had not gone to the bar myself to ask, we would still be waiting for our food and drinks order now!

Lovely large bedroom in the Willows converted bungalow across the road. Tastefully decorated. Bed was superb, super king and so comfortable. Bathroom had a bath and separate shower cubicle. Very quiet and looked out over a field. Traditional pub with oak beams and open fire. Lovely atmosphere with good mix of guests and regulars. Breakfast was excellent, with good quality ingredients. We ate there in the evenings too. Above average pub grub, good sized portions in comfortable surroundings. All staff were friendly and attentive. A special mention for Gail who as well as running breakfast service took time to suggest places of interest to visit. Thank you

Lovely stylish, characterful property. The decor was nice and the staff were friendly. We were leaving in the early hours, so we wouldn't be having the included breakfast, so some sandwiches were prepared for us to take with us, which was much appreciated. Highly recommend based on our experience.

The bed was very very soft and too bouncy!! There was no black out blind in the bathroom, just a thin privacy blind which is only any good during daylight hours, so we had to wedge a towel in the window to get privacy at night.

Lovely old pub with loads of character, we were greeted by the manager who took us across the road to our room, with parking outside, wow, very large and plenty of storage, big and very comfortable bed, bathroom had bath and walk in shower, everything was spotless, lovely touches, ground coffee and cafetière, couldn’t fault it, had a drink in the beer garden before eating, meal was very good, plus in the morning one of the best breakfasts, lots of choice beautifully presented, stayed only one night, but if in the area again will definitely return

Lovely welcome by staff on arrival. Beautiful room and very clean. Lovely selection of team/coffees and biscuits in room. Unfortunately the coffee machine was not working properly, it did not provide a decent flow of water and the coffee was lukewarm. Spacious pub/restaurant area and during the blackout staff at the pub continued serving drinks, simply setting up tabs, as till/card machines could not be accessed, there was no panic which made guests feel at ease.

Thin walls, we could hear our neighbours chatting/watching tv at 1am, either they were very loud or the walls are very thin.

Vegetarian/vegan options at breakfast. Large very comfortable bed. Pleasant surroundings. Good toiletries in pump dispensers. Very good shower.

There were no chairs in our room - I took two cushions and sat on the toilet cover to read. The room was across the road, not in the Cricketers building. There was no hot water to have a shower or wash in the basin on our last morning. It was rectified later on after we (and other guests) mentioning it. The light above the basin did not work - I reported it and was told that, although it had already been reported the day before, it was unlikely to be repaired until after our stay; we stayed for four nights and it wasn't repaired.

The Cricketers was a pretty, traditional pub in a village. We received a very warm welcome from the staff and they looked after us well. The food was very good, especially the breakfast. We had the added bonus of an unexpected view of the northern lights, which was very exciting!

Only one issue really and that was the shower. It was both difficult to access and had poor water pressure. It would have been dangerous for my 93 year old mother-in-law to use- even I found getting out tricky.

What a fantastic surprise! We booked the Cricketers last minute and, although it was late at night and rainy, we managed to find the pub where we were quickly shown to our two rooms. They were both warm and welcoming, with every amenity you could want. My grown daughter was thrilled with her room which was designed with a bit of pink. Ours was a bit more woodland themed and very serene. The bathrooms were top notch and mine was perfectly handicapped accessible. I have limited mobility so I could take a shower without risks. The breakfast was amazing with food cooked to order and many other delicious options. The entire complex is perfect and I wish we could have stayed longer. Nearby market town was SO fascinating for shopping and food!

We stayed here based on it's access to IWM Duxford mainly. Carpark was undergoing a reno so access to our room was problematic with our bags, but of course this was temporary. Very quaint pub to eat in.

Bit of a mess finding out where to park when we arrived due to the carpark being closed, but this is only temporary, so no complaints really to speak of. Only stayed one night as we were headed back into London.
