The funicular is included in the price. Conveniently located steps from the hotel lobby. With an unforgettable view of the city dropping you off next to Teatro Juárez. Staff was attentive and informative.
The condensation from the A/C drips onto a towel placed on the floor. By the second night we placed the trash bin for the water to drip into. As the saturated towel spilled onto the tile floor which was slippery all ready on its own. I slipped and fell in the morning as I walked into the bathroom. Hence the reason for sacrificing the trash can to catch the condensation from the a/c. Additionally thin walls if your a light sleeper.

If the funicular is in operation (which it was during my stay), this is a great place to stay. The views of Guanajuato are amazing and the convenience of the funicular (included) is tremendous. The base of the funicular is two-minute walk from the main plaza (Jardin). Getting to the parking and walking down the steep stairs to the hotel can be taxing if you have poor knees, but once at the hotel it is all great. We needed to change rooms because of too much lighting on room 4, and the staff were super accommodating and friendly. They were very generous with us and gave us a bigger room. Breakfast is included and was good. Great service. Also, great place to avoid the late night noise of the town if you are an earlier sleeper (like me). I will stay here on my next trip to Guanajuato.
Room 4 does not have heating and the bathroom wall is exposed to the hallway lighting, which made it very difficult to sleep the first night. But, we got a different and bigger room and it was great! Loved it.

The view from the hotel room balcony is fabulous (we lived in upper floor) . And the view is similar to from observation platform aside Monumento EI Pípila, therefore no need to join the crowd on platform for taking photos. This hotel is located in the building of the funicular upper station, so there is a unique advantage -- the hotel provides the card for funicular. Lodgers don’t need to buy tickets, and don’t need to queue. Before I went there, I thought many uphill hotels provided this kind treatment, but now I believe this hotel is probably the only one with such benefit. Hotel's breakfast was also good. Although the varieties were limited, they were tasty. Breakfast was semi-self-service. The service staff brought us drinks, bread and fruits, and we took plates to choose main meal by ourselves. Lodgers can't get to the hotel by taxi directly. Need to take a taxi to the vicinity of the hotel (close to Monumento EI Pípila), then carry the luggage down a flight of stairs (it takes about 2 minutes). There is no elevator in the hotel, so lodgers need to carry the luggage up the stairs.

Lovely place in a great location for visiting Guanajuato. This view from our room and near the hotel is unbelievable! It is so easy to use the funicular up and down (inc in price), which takes you straight into the heart of the city, within walking distance to every sight! At the price, it is such good value. The staff were so nice and helpful. The breakfast was also great, a mix of fresh fruit, yoghurt, hot dishes and sweets, slightly different each day! The amenities, beds and shower were also great.
A slight smell from the shower drain but nothing major. WiFi also not great from our room. A water tank would also be perfect, although did provide small bottles each day!

The best part of this hotel is the view, and that guests need to take the funicular into town. This experience is really special. It is a little inconvenient if you need to get back to the room during the day, but we didn't, and it proved a nice transition from the noise and activity downtown to the quiet at the top of the overlook. And the view as the funicular makes its way to the hotel is really nice both during the day and at nighttime. Keep in mind that the funicular is used by tourists, which means that if you get it the station at the wrong time, there may be a long line. The hotel clearly states that guests have priority, and there are signs stating this, but you will have to make your way to the front of the line to show your hotel pass to the attendant. Some people may find this uncomfortable.
Guests should know that it is a long walk down several flights of stairs to the hotel from the parking lot (or from where your taxi will drop you off). This is not an easy walk with luggage. Guests should also know that you have to run the hot water for about 5 minutes (not exaggerating) before it gets to the shower. Breakfast is included but is very simple.

Location was convenient to the funicular which gave us access up and down the steep hillside into the downtown core. The hotel's fee came with a complimentary access card to use the funicular. A nice surprise. Complimentary breakfast always included fresh melon, mango or papaya and yogurt, plus a few hot food buffet food options including eggs, refried beans, and some "fajita-style" mix of meat or mushrooms with grilled onions and peppers. The desk staff and housekeeping were all very nice. Laundry service does not seem typical, but it seems to be an option for a fee for smaller loads.
In our view, Unit #8 layout would work better with the desk placed where the bed is right now... centered to allow room for the armchair. With the bed anchored to the wall where the desk is now, the curtains could be pulled to block the nighttime lamp that comes on outside. The layout would also make it easier to align the fan with the patio door to pull in the cool nighttime air.

Balcon del Cielo is a little gem of a hotel. I love that it is located in the centre of Guanajuato but not directly in the centre. The funicular ride makes such a big difference as everything is accessible within 5 minutes. Breakfast was a lot - fruit, yogurt, granola, eggs, chilaquiles etc. The room was spotless and the towels smelled wonderful. Thanks to Valentin and the staff members.
The directions to the hotel. There are no street numbers etc. The easiest way to arrive by taxi is to go to the foot of the funicular, show the cashier your reservation and then approach it that way. I found the bed hard. When the balcony doors are open it is very noisy. Once closed it is fine.

The view from the balcony was amazing and what made the room so good. The hotel also gives you cards for the funicular which allow you to jump the queue and board for free, this was really useful and made the location great as it was only 5 minutes away from Union Garden and the centre if you took the funicular instead of walking. The staff were always really helpful and pleasant to deal with too. Breakfast being included was also a bonus.
The Wi-Fi for our room (6) is the worst Wi-Fi we have ever had. It was honestly so bad that it was unusable, I had to buy roaming data because I couldn’t even load Google Maps on it. We asked reception for access to the other Wi-Fi networks but we were unable to access them. There was also an occasional smell of sewage. It would also be good to have a more modern TV with Netflix or other streaming services as the one in our room appeared to be rather dated.

The hotel's location is superb, near to the Pipila Monument overlooking Guanajuato, and a short, scenic funicular ride from the main city square. Hotel guests are provided with a free pass for the funicular to use for the duration of your stay. The views from my hotel room and balcony were stunning. The room was bright, spacious, comfortable and clean, with modern facilities, a hot, high pressure shower, and air conditioning, and the staff were very helpful and welcoming.
The area around the Pipila Monument sometimes hosts outdoor events. There was a 24-hour charity event taking place during my stay, and the music and announcements were incredibly loud from around 7am to 1am. Information on the booking was also unclear on whether breakfast was included or available. The website says that the hotel offers breakfast, but the booking didn't mention it, and there didn't appear to be a room suitable for dining.

The room was great! Amazing view! A good advantage is that you get a card to ride the funicular for free as many times as you want. Also, you get to skip the line (big deal)! This is important because if you do everything at the center of Guanajuato you’ll need to go down the funicular every time. Keep in mind that the funicular closes at 9:50pm, so if you plan to do things late at night you will need to climb up MANY steps (or get a taxi).
They had a system for breakfast, where you need to reserve a time for it, so not everyone eats at the same time. We kept forgetting to reserve it, and at one point, we had to take the only time they had left, which we ended up missing it, because we had other plans. The breakfast was tasty, but the same every day, not much variety. I generally enjoyed it, but on my last day, the breakfast l ate did not sit well and I was ill all day long!
