A very well managed and located manor-type hotel, with comfortable rooms, a pleasant lounge and conservatory,a most inviting terrace and bar, and excellent breakfast and a tasty « bistronomical » restaurant, with a pleasant wine menu. A smart luggage management system, insures your bags have a straight between your room and your boat or air travel.

The breakfast management timing was a bit stiff: you need to let them know on the evening beforehand of your breakfast time… kills the morning initiative… and sadly, after having missed the full regalia breakfast, no « light » initiative (tea or coffee, a pastry, a joghurt - nothing fancy) was offered and we felt left to « rot ». Also, spontaneously approaching the restaurant at 8:20 PM for a table for two… we were told that the kitchen was closed; we found solace a couple of yards further down towards the village, yet we’re saddened- considering the quality of the cuisine - that no « last minute » option was available.

Staff were all very hard working, both front of house and housekeeping. Courteous and pleasant with all interactions and queries. The central location was a great bonus as were the views from our room and terrace. Breakfasts were excellent with a great range of options.

The up keep of the planted areas, and the visuals at the main entrance let the internal ambience down badly. A good tidy up would make all the difference and an enhanced entrance with some planters, the BBQ etc perhaps concealed behind screening or trellising?

Very good location with great sea views. Comfortable bed rooms with excellent large bath and hand towels provided. Good range of toiletries, teas, biscuits etc provided in the room. Comfortable beds. Pleasant outside seating area with plenty of arm chairs. We were allowed into our rooms earlier (about 2.30 pm) than the normal check in time (4.0 pm). This was very helpful as we wished to rest before evening dinner and have an early night before leaving promptly in the morning for flight back to Exeter.

Cooked breakfast NOT provided before 8 am even for passengers who had to go early to catch a flight back from Scillies island to the mainland. Only a CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST AVAILABLE FROM 7.30 - 8 AM. SEEMED RATHER INADEQUATE FOR A HOTEL, CHARGING VERY HIGH B&B RATES.

Very good breakfast. Service was always good. Well located for catching boats to the other islands. Comfortable seating in the lounge are with a lovely view.

We had booked a twin bedded room which we had but it was clearly designed for children ( it had a locked door which lead to an adjoining room) so there was very little storage space for the clothes that two adults needed. Virtually no drawer space so we had to live out of our suitcases.

Excellent choice of breakfast. Plenty of space to relax and meet people, especially on the delightful sun terrace. The delivery of luggage from the Quay on arrival and the reverse service on leaving is much appreciated.

We had a rather small room, short of hanging space. The wi-fi is not secure! A lot of steps - but that's expected in The Scillies! On arrival the location of Reception is not signed.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful, especially with our Gluten Free breakfasts. Room was cleaned promptly. Very helpful with the booking the boat trips. Really enjoyed our stay.

We would have liked to have ventilation when using the shower - window would not open and no extraction fan. Toilet seat not fitted very well. We got round it but may be an issue for other guests.

Very well decorated and welcoming dining area, outside seating with stunning views of Hugh town. Our room was a standard and very small & faced a wall, with too much furniture in, the bathroom had no fan or opening window, so wouldn’t recommend a standard room. There are a lot of stairs to access the bedrooms & no lift.

Didn’t like the room we stayed in but we would return and pay for a better room.

Plenty of choices for breakfast so very happy with that. The location was excellent, being close to the quay for the ferry and boat trips.

We weren't able to do everything while we were there but that was due to boats being cancelled during wet , stormy days. However that was not the fault of the hotel!!! The bar drinks and meals were expensive but not just at this hotel.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was a nice relaxed feel about the hotel, and it was good to have areas to sit downstairs.

We didn't like the early checkout, especially as the boat didn't said until 4.30. Also the hotel was hosting a private group after our stay which meant we didn't feel welcome to use the hotel on that last day.

Staff excellent, hotel superb and well located

Room 11 was lovely and I appreciated ceiling fans but remote control to operate them did not turn off light in the centre of the fan, so it was a case of having to have them not operating to get darkness required for sleep. Would have liked darkness and fan on. It was 11pm at this point so I didn't bother ringing service (my own choice). Also found pillows too high, its just me but I must have low pillow that our head just sinks into. Not a criticism.
