The front desk staff were incredibly friendly. I had to book an additional night for our stay and the desk team walked me through the process of rebooking the room through the third party site. They also called me later to ensure all of the details were correct.

The hotel should supply each room with a do not disturb sign. Each day the housekeepers woke us up to see if we needed the room turned down. We were out late most nights so it wasn't fun getting up to let them know we weren't interested. I don't typically use housekeeping during my stay so it would have been easier to have a sign like most hotels that said that we did not need housekeeping. The housekeeping staff was nice though - we just didn't need them knocking on the door each day.

A beautiful old Hotel it was charming.

The staff were very accommodating, the 1 bedroom suite had plenty of room for 4 people. Any problems we had, the sofa bed wasn’t made and extra towels were brought up within minutes of calling the front desk. The room was clean. Certain things in room could be updated but it is a old hotel. Carpets and furniture are worn however not a deal breaker for staying. Window air conditioners worked but didn’t keep the room as cool as we would have liked, but again it wasn’t terrible. Location is ideal for staying in the city. Overall a value and a comfortable stay.

I was really worried about all the bad reviews before we arrived but I have to disagree with a lot of them. This hotel definitely needs work but it’s the most affordable in the area and I found all the staff extremely helpful and friendly. Perhaps we had a different room but ours was really large and well equipped, with two Queen beds, had a separate kitchen and sitting room area. it was light, clean, comfortable and high on the 20th floor. I asked for a high floor when making the booking to minimize the street noise outside. It was nice and quiet on our floor too. The beds were very comfy and had good pillows. The room was cleaned everyday and the cleaners were very friendly and did a great job. The hotel is really conveniently located. It’s Close (easy walking distance) to Times Square, Empire states and The Edge. Penn station is directly across the road which was really convenient so we took the subway a lot. would definitely stay again.

The airco is noisy but it worked well. I had earplugs so that particular inconvenience was taken care of. The bathroom is very small but the water pressure and temperature was always good

We had a free upgrade on arrival & the housekeeping team were great. Great location & bus route Q32 stopped right by the hotel

The luggage staff on departure. We had to put our bags in storage for a later flight which was fine, tip a dollar a bag. They offered to get a taxi for us for a flat rate of $65 we agreed but should have just gone out front & got our own as we had no choice in them taking our bags to the cab as they wanted MORE tips!! then when we got to the airport it was $75 as tolls were added. Taxi was $63 on arrival including tolls so was annoyed at that.

The staff working at the front desk were very polite and helpful. The room was very tidy and met the needs of myself and my boyfriend. It was good price and a great location - right next to Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, and tons of restaurants. It was a small room, but it had a big shower and queen bed - so perfect for a young couple. The cleaning staff were very friendly and replenished our towels and bedding each day. There was also a hair dryer provided!

The wifi was spotty for me and some days did not work at all. I was on the go a lot anyway everyday, so it wasn't a big deal. One of the perks is the location, but it is very noisy at night when you're trying to sleep. Keeping the A/C fan on high helps.

Check in was great! I was honest with the woman at the desk and said I was concerned about some of the reviews saying it wasnt a "clean" hotel. She was very understanding of my concerns and did a great job getting us checked in and into a clean room. Jennifer had great customer service and the bell hops were amazing! I also liked that anyone wanting to go up to the rooms had to have a room key to work the elevator. I had two 15 yr old girls with me and I appreciated the additional saftey.

The hotel was in a very convenient location for exploring Manhattan. It was close to the subway or you could walk to several attractions, the Empire state Building and the High line Garden were both 15 minutes away. We were on the 16th floor and there was almost no traffic noise. The kitchenette was very useful and there is a Whole Foods store and a liquor store a few minutes walk away. The room itself was a little dated, the carpet was a bit scruffy and the bathroom had some peeling paint but overall we felt this was good value for money considering the location. Super comfy bed and maid service every day for a week.

Our coffee maker didn't work very well but we improvised on the stove top and didn't bother reporting it to housekeeping.

This hotel was a great value. Our room was huge compared to other accommodation in the city and I liked the fact that we had two queen beds. The staff was very attentive, helpful, and friendly. The location was very good. We felt safe in the area and it was easy to get around from Penn Station.

We arrived late at night and still had to wait about 20 minutes until our room was ready. But keep in mind that this hotel is being visited by so many travelers that overall I think they are managing it very well. A room renovation would be nice. At the same time there are so many travelers staying here, that it was easy for me to overlook some little things. The housekeeping staff was awesome and made all up for it.

The location, the value, the staff, and the charm were all reasons we came back to The Stewart Hotel for our second visit to NYC. We came for Harry Potter but we were in the center of everything with much to see, shop, eat and do. It was perfect. The price was not outrageous like much of NYC. The staff were super friendly and helpful, there was a limo service waiting when it was time to go the airport. They immediately brought us extra towels when we needed them and were there in less then 5 minutes when the a/c blew a fuse at 5 in the morning. The charm begins in the foyer where one steps back in time and immediately feels safe and unhurried. The decor is classic and will always be beautiful. When I gather up more money for another trip, we will stay at The Stewart Hotel again!

the smell is a little old and the carpet is too. the couch in the suite needed cleaning also. we threw a nice clean crisp sheet over it. But hey, what do you want for that kind of money? it was still a great value!

The hotel is well located....in the middle of places of interest... attractions, restaurants and diners etc. Staff was kind and helpfull. We appreciate being able to enter our room although we checked in a couple of hours before the official check-in time.... that was great.

We were slightly worried to hear during check in that our reservation couldn't be found, although we had a copy of the reservation. Fortunately the receptionist was able to solve this issue. Hotel furniture need some upgrading... broken floor tiles in the lobby... roman shades in the room need cleaning... ceiling painting in the bathroom is flaking... recepticle on the desk table wasn't working... room doorlock was irresponsive the second day of our stay. It took a while before it was fixed.
