Friendly staff, excellent dinner and breakfast, comfortable room, not too far from centre of Pau, spa use included in price

Place looks a bit tired, gardens were unkempt, rooms were a bit old fashioned, a few areas of damp on the walls etc. once a stylish villa no doubt but now needs a little investment to bring it back to its former splendour

Lovely big room with nice bathroom with bath and separate shower, staff friendly and helpful. Good gym and spa pool.

Reviews said that the hotel had good food but when we arrived we were told the restaurant was closed, we should have been informed of this prior to booking, also said it had two swimming pools but only one working.

Lovely grounds Building is magnificent! Breakfast was lovely. Staff were very helpful and pleasant . Room was huge.

Bathrooms need updating. There was a great deal of noise coming from upstairs and hallway outside our room.. The doorways leading outside to the patio felt not so secure. Feels like the whole place needs a little freshening and updating.

Beautiful old mansion with spectacular views to the Pyrenees. The rooms facing the mountains in the old house are amazing. The public areas of this hotel are gorgeous, oozing history and charm, particular the wood panelled bar. Lovely big gardens facing the Pyrenees. Nice pool!

The rooms in the new wing are generic and dated - 90's chic. Unfortunately these are not differentiated in the booking system so somewhat a lottery. Wifi is patchy. I had to change rooms once because the AC didn't work, and again because the wifi didn't work. Fortunately this was obliged.

Beautiful view of the Pyrenees. Beautiful suite and bath. Wonderful breakfast and service! Silvania was most accodating to serve us a beautiful Wine and charcuterie platter with bread on Monday night.. So Sweet to share stories of the Castle and Lady of the house.

It’s a beautiful building and its walking distance from everything.

My room was insufferably hot and the AC was not working properly. As a result I had to battle mosquitoes in the night and slep poorly. Window frames were broken and didn’t close and the WC had broken items, which I reported.

Nice room, lovely gardens and pool. The house itself is like something from a fairy tale really.

Didn't quite feel like a five star hotel. The restaurant in the hotel is closed on Sundays which is strange as most other restaurants in Pau are also closed on Sundays and the hotel is quite far from everything. Also the lobby and bar weren't always manned - so to get a drink could be a bit tricky.

Our room with three doors opening out onto a terrace looking over the garden.. perfect for our dog too! Spa facilities were brilliant and enjoyed all to myself

The hotel is an historic property and the public rooms have a lovely old world atmosphere. The restaurant looked beautiful and the menu good although we didn’t eat there. We had a charming room on the top floor with good facilities and nice view of the garden. The evening reception staff were very helpful and welcoming. Nice spa area although it is in need of an update, however we enjoyed using the facilities.

The decor was a bit tired and in need of a repaint. The hot tub didn’t work properly and the steam room was excellent but the tiling was worn. There was a broken window on the floor in the pool area which gave it a feeling of neglect.
