The location is quite a long way from the nearest settlement but it suited us fine as an overnight stop when travelling between the Bay of Islands and the Coromondel Peninsula. Ellie made us feel very welcome and she gave us some very good tips on what to see and do on the Coromandel.

The nearest restaurant was about 14 km away in Kaiaua so it was quite a long drive to get dinner after we'd arrived at Miranda Homestead. We would have stopped en route if we had known. On the plus side, the food in the Bay View hotel restaurant was pretty good. Might be worth adding a note to that effect to the property information.

The location was perfect for our purposes (an appointment in the Maramarua Forest). It would also be excellent for those interested in the birds at the Pukorokoro Bird Centre just down the road and for those looking for a comfortable stay in a rural setting. Being remote, it is a quiet location. Our host was lovely. She couldn't have been friendlier and provided a hearty breakfast. She also provided us with binoculars for our visit to the bird centre.

The internet speed was pretty slow, but adequate for emails.

The location was excellent for visiting the Miranda bird centre and hides. Ellie was extremely welcoming and gave us lots of tips on places to visit and good restaurants. She also found my camera which I must have dropped outside and was soaking wet. It has dried out and is in good working order. Thanks Ellie.

We would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room or nearby. Ellie should make clear that the included breakfast is a continental one.

This is a room inside the house of the owner, a lovely elderly woman. The toilet is actually outside the room and if there were additional guests then the toilet and shower were shared. Luckily there were no other guests.... The breakfast was delicious

The property was beautiful, well appointed, quite isolated and quiet. Our bedroom was well appointed, with good views onto the side garden. Towelling robes were sumptuous. We were not ‘en-suite’ but the bathroom was just outside our room and well equipped. We could sit in the living room or on the veranda. Ellie, the proprietor was wonderful. She’s had an active life and kept us entertained with stories. The breakfast was vast and tasty.

Eli is a lovely host. Her house is very nice and makes you feel at home. Eli wellcomed us with tea and told us about the surrounding. She offered us to go bird-waching and it was very intersting. We were sorry to leave. She is no 1!!!!

The house was maintained and cleaned beautifully. Tasteful art on the walls. Our bedroom was cozy, comfortable, and had everything we needed (even a few nice little surprises). The hostess, Ellie, was indeed, a retired air-hostess and nurse. She was old-school charming, generous, and had some great stories.

Wifi was unusable in our bedroom (one bar). I diddnt bother Ellie about it. Maybe it was fixable. The only TV was shared, in the lounge room.

It felt like coming home, so welcoming neat and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. The host was lovely and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable.

That we couldn't stay longer.

A great B&B in wonderfully serene location on the Seabird Coast. Every comfort has been thought of & hostess Ellie is discreetly there when you need something. Lovely worldly lady to have a yarn to as well.

Having to leave after just one night was a struggle!
