Excellent location with instant holiday feelings in the moment the shuttle boat is departing from the pier nearby. Onsen and apartments come with a view to Mount Fuji. The French interior makes guests travel back in time - in a positive/romantic way. Rooms and the entire building are very spacious. The staff is very professional and helpful.

Only minor points: If you carry heavy luggage, you need to lift it over a few stairs at the entrance. There is an abandoned pool which could either be revived or turned into something else (e.g. a seating area?!). As warned during the check-in, the WiFi signal is rather slow given the hotel is placed on an island without modern cable connection. Again, all these points are only minor ones. Again,

The hotel was very charming with a history. The hotel was very clean and although there were quite a few quests at breakfast, it seems very quiet in the corridors and lounge. Excellent location to go to for relaxing. Breakfast had a good selection of a healthy western or Japanese breakfast. The staff at check-in and breakfast were very friendly and helpful.

While the hotel was maintained very well, the surroundings showed signs of aging. This doesn't matter at all when you stay at the hotel however we explored the island (walk around the island and a hike up the mountain to see the shrine).

I stayed there for two nights to celebrate my wife's birthday and was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a larger room free of charge. Thank you very much. The staff were very professional and kind. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious. They also served a breakfast with a variety of choices, including Western and Japanese style options. We were very satisfied and will definitely stay there again.

The service was exceptional, from the moment I arrived at the pier I was immediately attended to by the staff who were always helpful and patient throughout my stay. The view from every room is just amazing - who says you need to go to Hakone/Kawaguchiko to see Mt.Fuji! And of course, this is a must-do for Love Live! Sunshine!! fans 😀

Exceptional hotel that offers excellent facility, breathtaking view of the Mount Fuji and the sea. The staffs are all very friendly, professional and helpful. The breakfast and dinner at the hotel are both very well prepared and delicious. This hotel is a real gem in every way.

This place would make an amazing location for a murder mystery show. The staff are so helpful and appear to pop up out of thin air to assist. The French restaurant is silver service and the food is exquisite. For a Japanese hotel, the rooms are enormous with an expansive view of Mt Fuji.

The staff was very kind and helpful. The location is very beautiful, just by the ocean and with a clear view of Mt Fuji.

Many hotel facilities were closed, like the bar, and there was no room service (although staff covered most of the requests when asked). The room wifi also had a pretty poor connection.

The staff at Awashima are absolutely amazing it was truly a 5 star experience. Being able to have exclusive all day access to the island was quite the adventure. The hotel was in excellent condition even though it still has a retro look which I think gave it more charm.

The beds are hard like a Japanese futon.
