The location

I choose the economy room, which had a bunk bed. Below the bed is a desk on which you could theoretically work. However in front of the desk is such a big chair hat if you also put your suitcase below the bunk bed, there is no place to move the chair... so you can not use the desk either as you cannot sit . The room was extremely hot as the air conditioner can only produce hot air and no cold air. In the end I unplugged everything and opened the window (which is not easy as you have to climb on the desk to get access to the window). So just too much stuff in such a small room. The common area is nice and you will meet other travellers.

The location is fantastic and the signage made it easy to find. It's close to a train station. I went early to drop off my backpack but my room was ready so I was able to check-in. The room is ryokan style - simple with bedding provided for the floor. It was very comfortable. I never turned on the TV or AC/heater, but both were in the room. There is a small sink with cold water and a shower with hot water and lots of water pressure. Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap were provided in dispensers. The shared toilet is in the hall. There is a simple, shared kitchen area on the main floor.

The shower taps were very stiff and hard to turn, especially once they were wet, but I managed ;-)

Great location - tucked into a sweet alley away from the main street, but close enough to have access. Super convenient. The space was lovely and very comfortable. Glad to have a private shower and sink in the room. The balcony doors let in plenty of natural light and breeze. The heater worked when the temperature dropped in the 40s at night. The staff at both the guesthouse and on site restaurant were so kind and helpful. Definitely eat a meal there or have a handful of beverages.

No hook by the sink or even a small shelf for toiletries. But nothing else!

The staff is super friendly and helped me carry the luggage to the room also helped me take downstairs. Also helped me call a taxi even helped me pull my luggage to outside waiting for me get on the cab and left ! It’s so rare even in Taiwan they won’t help you to do that ! The food I had the night before was super tasty . It’s next to the guesthouse, I think it’s also belonging to the guesthouse, because the staff was the same guy who help me carry my luggage upstairs. I chose grilled steak with veggies and the appetite was also great ! Super delicious! It even tastes better than a proper restaurant! And people were in the bar super friendly and helped me up my journey in Kamakura told me which ways I go would saved my time. Let me feel super warm and like that place so much ! One day trip was too short there are so many beautiful places to see ! I would definitely come back again and stay more days here next year! Thanks for helping me ! ❤️

Clean, comfortable and quiet. Great location, within a few minutes walk of the Giant Budda, Kamakura Hasedera and numerous cafes, bars and cool shops. I loved the vibe in this part of Kamakura and would definitely stay here again. The bed I slept in was exceptionally comfortable (soft by Japanese standards) and the shower whilst small was functional with good water pressure and temperature. I was travelling by myself and felt very safe and comfortable here. I would also highly recommend the attached bar/restaurant.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent. Very quiet yet only minutes away from great bars and restaurants and walking distance to lots of the local attractions.

The room was not quite what we expected as the booking confirmation (from booking.com) stated that it was a twin room with private bathroom. The twin beds are actually bunks and the private bathroom does not include a toilet. Despite this the room was fine but this could be a problem for some people.

The guy who did the check in was so friendly and took care of me so well. The place is about 5-8 minutes from the Hase station and Hase is just 3 stations from the Kamakura line- all well connected. The Great Buddha is close by and so is the Hadedera Temple. The place is very clean and quiet. In the evening , I went down to the cafe bar and there were local customers whom you can talk to just to mingle into the local spirit. Love to go back and stay in the same place. The hospitality of this guesthouse is exceptional.

Actually they have everything. Maybe if they can serve breakfast in the cafe bar, that would be good. But then the staff worked long hours into the night. And there is a coffee shop at Hase station where you can eat. So no big problems after all.

The vibes ! The team! The location and the style of the guesthouse. The restaurant part of the guesthouse is very cool and the food is absolutely delicious ! Close to the great Buddha and the beautiful temple Hase den. Feeling really to be in holiday !

Because as guesthouse, the toilet and showers was sharing, it was not perfectly clean as Japanese standard. Also not easy to go up and down from the bed upstairs but it’s for sure because I’m not used to.

This guesthouse was super charming and had everything I needed! The staff are incredibly kind, helpful, and very accommodating. I was dumb and lost my Kamakura pass, but one of the staff tried his best to help me track it down. For that, I’m extremely grateful and appreciative of his kindness. As for the lodging itself, everything was clean, accessible, and as described. I used the laundry machine and dryer, which were very convenient as a traveler. There’s a communal space, which I also took pleasure in relaxing in. We are given a key to lock our room, which is nice sense of security. My room had a shower and sink in it, but the toilets are shared outside of the room. Overall, I had a comfortable stay and wish I could have stayed longer. Thank you guest Shibafu staff-I had a great stay!

The location was perfect to go explore the west part of Kamakura but also only 25 minutes by foot from the JR station and 5 minutes from the Enoden Station. Making it a perfect location to not only get around Kamakura but also going to Enoshima. Since it's close to the Daibutsu you don't have to get up super early to avoid the masses coming to see the great Buddha statue. I can also recommend you go to Hasedera, which is a max 5 minutes by foot from the guesthouse. The room as well as all the other facilities were perfectly clean. Apart from that, the staff was delightful. They are all very friendly and like engaging in conversation when you're at their restaurant next door in the evening. I cannot judge how fluent they are in English because we were talking in Japanese, but they were very open and friendly towards the international customers as well! I really had a great time there and can only recommend everyone staying at Guesthouse Shibafu.
