Of our years of travelling this place is perhaps most remarkable. Yes it is in an impossibly beautiful town; yes it is a picturesque building; yes it is full of idiosyncratic, fascinating+ thoughtful original art and objêt. But what makes it so memorable is host/artist Luc and his charming son Michael, who not only have thought of providing everything - right down to a clothes steamer, luggage scales + fully stocked pantry + fridge - but are the most urbane, hospitable + generous people.St Paul de Vence is an anachronistic town-like Venice- and no joke to get to, but we felt we met the real soul of the place with Luc. Why else would I feel tears welling when I hugged Luc goodbye, after only 4 nights there? One of a kind...
Nothing. It was perfect.

Luc's daughter-in-law Annabelle greeted us when we pulled up to the village walls to guide us to the Maison. It was so lovely to wake up in the morning, open our door and find fresh croissants or pain au chocolate waiting for us along with a fresh baguette. We had a super coffee maker with the coffee supplied. We were thrilled to open our fridge when we arrived and see it had been fully, thoughtfully stocked with bottled water, juice, jam, cheese, meats, all wonderful. Luc also presented us with a lovely bottle of wine we enjoyed.
That we had to leave after 7 days.

Very romantic apartment decorated by the owner in a very artistic manner. Each detail was carefully chosen. Very interesting place which provided a unique experience to remember. Luc was very nice and received us earlier for accommodation, the kitchen was fully stacked, so nice of them to wait with a full fridge, wine, fruit, coffee and more. Nicely located in the old town which allows for beautiful walks. Not very busy mornings and evenings since most tourists sleep in Nice and only visit during the day.
Nothing to complain about :)

The room was perfect! Clean, cozy and full equipped. Luc was so thoughtful especially preparing the room for us, since we were in our honeymoon. He also booked us a table at La Colombe d’Or, the town’s famous restaurant and we loved our meal! Breakfast was amazing, best croissant and pain au chocolat we ever had (Luc dropped them everyday in our window). Michel (Luc’s son) was very helpful, he gave us many tios and went to the town’s entrance to pick us up and show us the parking lot.

When we drove up to Saint Paul de Vence it looked magical-when we arrived at Aux Bonsais we could not believe the location. It was beautiful. Each morning, we got to see a beautiful sunrise and about 9am had a delivery of warm croissants placed on our window sill by Luc. This side of Saint Paul is very quiet, and rather peaceful. The rooms were charming and eclectic. Kitchen and fruit bowls were fully stocked with all sorts of goodies. (which we did not expect). Mike gave us some great driving tips- it can be slightly intimidating driving a rental car, maneuvering around on the very narrow streets...you do get the hang of it rather quickly. We cannot wait to go back!!
Did not like to have to leave.

From the moment we set foot in Saint Paul de Vence, we knew we were in for something special. This charming town offers an intimate glimpse into the heart of France, and our stay was made all the more memorable because of our outstanding accommodation. Our hosts, Michael and Luc, were the epitome of hospitality. Not only were they welcoming and attentive, but they also ensured that every aspect of our stay was taken care of, down to the smallest detail. The décor of our lodging was both elegant and cozy, capturing the essence of a classic French home while offering modern conveniences. We were pleasantly surprised to find our fridge and pantry brimming with treats and essentials. Having everything in abundance meant that we could truly relax and feel at home, without the usual scramble to find supplies. The cherry on top was waking up to the aroma of freshly baked croissants every morning. Paired with the complimentary bottle of wine that Michael and Luc generously provided, it made our evenings all the more delightful. To anyone considering a trip to France, seeking an authentic and heartwarming experience, look no further than this gem in Saint Paul de Vence. Our stay here was, without a doubt, the highlight of our journey. Merci beaucoup, Michael and Luc, for giving us the best of French hospitality. We can't wait to return!

This experience was a mixture of living history and art exhibition. The rooms were thoughtful decorated and complimented the original architecture. The hosts were easily accessible and provided so many extra conveniences to use if needed plus a full pantry for breakfast and wine for later. Thank you Luc and Michael for your gracious hosting and making our stay for a week so enjoyable. We will return in the future.
No problems encountered.

It is a very convenient, well stocked, and magical place to stay. Luc and his son make it easy and are welcoming. A great place to relax and as a base to walk around town day and night.
This has nothing to do with the accommodations but the town - we’d love to see info and marker about James Baldwin. It is almost as if his historical significance is being erased/ignored. Makes one a bit sad.

Luc’s property was absolute perfection - there is so much thought and attention to detail not only in terms of decor but also in terms of practicality. The place is perfect for making your own meals with everything you could need being available. The apartment is also very close to the restaurants which are all excellent. Luc’s fantastic hospitality was by far the best we have experienced on a trip - even brining us fresh pastries in the mornings! Luc was very easy to reach by phone with a quick response time. Check in was smooth and flexible. We can’t wait to return.

Great village centre location. Everything was provided in the accommodation, the fridge was well stocked and the host brought us fresh baked goods for breakfast each morning. He was also helpful regarding local restaurants and facilities.
Occasional noise at odd times, eg early morning, with people chatting outside the window. Access to the car park through the narrow village streets is a little hair-raising. If renting a car, choose a small one!
