The room was as described when I booked, and the large bed requested was super king size, and the bathroom facilities were excellent. There was a good choice of options at breakfast, which were always prepared to perfection, and presented in a timely manner. I must add that having the use of the honesty bar was very much appreciated at the end of the day, enjoying a drink either sitting indoors or outside in the lovely garden. Debbie, Vivien, Paul and Mark were outstanding hosts, they made us feel so welcome, and went that extra mile to make sure we had such a wonderful stay. We will be booking again for sure.

Could not find fault with anything during our stay at Amber House.

The location is ideal for those looking for a base to explore the surrounding Devon area. Close to the coast, and the town of Paignton, and also ideally situated for those wishing to visit some of the National Trust and English Heritage properties in the region. The room we had was excellent, as was the hearty breakfast we enjoyed each morning. The use of an honesty bar was an ideal way to unwind with your favourite drink at the end of the day.

Could not fault this Hotel in any way. The staff went out of their way to ensure that all was well during our visit.

Great location close to the town. You can see the steam train from the property which is nice! The whole property was spotless, our room was a good size and the bed was huge. The bathroom was quite big too with a brand new shower. Good quality breakfast. Very friendly staff!

From booking advert looks like the property is seaview but I could not see the sea. We had parking view, but not a big deal for us as we went around the area all day long. I would have loved a sweet option in the breakfast such as Pancakes, but I still loved the breakfast anyway!

Very friendly owners who stayed up late until we arrived to make sure we were all settled. Always happy to help as well Clean, quiet rooms with very comfortable beds. Our room contained one double and one single means excellent space for the price. Property has lots of off road parking and has a lovely garden to sit in during the morning and evening with a self serve bar. Included breakfast was excellent with lots of cooked variety and range of cereals as well. Tea and coffee freshly prepared aswell

Nothing to fault. Only suggestions we could put forward: Maybe look at taking advantage of government electric vehicle charging grants to get a car charger or two installed. We would like to make this our go to hotel for visiting Cornwall and having the option to charge over night would be absolutely fantastic. It would be nice to have some fruit such as bananas and apples available at breakfast.

We loved everything about Amber House. Myself , husband and 12 year old son stayed in the Rock pool family suite. The suite was spotlessly clean with comfy beds and the most amazing shower. The breakfast was delicious with fresh, local ingredients. The location is perfect with a short walk to paignton pier or goodrington and the views are fantastic. There are a selection of games and dvds that you can borrow during your stay which was a lovely touch. The owners are all very friendly and welcoming and made our stay feel like a real treat. We will certainly be returning in the future.

The owners were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. The in room guide provided useful information on local amenities and I used to locate an excellent restaurant (TJ's) which I ate at twice during my stay: on the second occasion with a local friend who was also impressed. The Wi-Fi was fast if you needed to save your own data allowance.

One minor issue I had was no heated towel rail in my bathroom. I am sure the hotel would have provided additional dry towels upon request, but it would be more convenient to not to have to ask. This only arose because I had a shower returning cold and wet on a couple of occasions out on the moors, and the towels didn't dry naturally for the next morning.

Not only did we fall in love with Amber House and the location but we fell in love with Debbie and Vivian who were the most tentative and fabulous hosts. We were originally booked from Monday - Friday but extended our stay to the Sunday and we are so glad we did! We stayed in the Rockpool room which was beautifully decorated with ample of space over looking the garden for myself, husband, 10 year old daughter and dog. The breakfast included in our stay was incredible and every request was catered for, they even relocated our table for our convenience as a family even though this meant we were further away from the kitchen to be served and meant more work for them but I was always greeted with a smile and a coffee even though they were incredibly busy with the morning rush. We packed quite a few activities in our stay which included 2 days at the local waterpark (10 minute walk) which Amber House kindly provided us towels for on request, the train station was also a 10 minute walk so we also enjoyed a stream train round trip which included a ferry trip and also a day in Torquay where we visited Dino World along with a day in Paignton to enjoy the fair, ice creams and fish & chips by the sea. We arrived home today and my daughter has already asked if we can go back to Amber House and said that the highlights of her holiday was the waterpark (Splashdown) and enjoying afternoon tea in the garden of Amber House and giggles with Debbie and Vivian. I am already planning on booking more time off work so we can go back, the memories and love for Amber House, Debbie & Vivian will last forever The Gigglers & Chicken

Lovely owners, great room with everything you need & a sea view! Toiletries provided & tea, coffee etc..and free view TV... Great to be able to sit in their lovely garden with a drink from their honesty bar, which provided a great selection of drinks. Free on site parking a great bonus. Plenty of information available about places to visit in the local area.

Nothing the owners can do about this but the area is quite hilly, so a few hills to navigate up & down to get to the harbour. I walked it in less than 10 mins though & easy walk to the beach. Also as there is a car park there's no issue parking when you get back if you take the car..

So much to like. Staff are amazing. I checked in around 3pm and staff were immediately welcoming. I asked for early breakfast and that was provided at 6.15am. I also worked in the bar area one night and that was fantastic too. Parking off road, a cosy comfy room, great en-suite. I couldn’t have been more welcomed and comfortable. I only wish I’d been on holiday!

Excellent value for money. Great cotton sheets. Very clean. Very quiet. Superb fruit salad and kippers! If you were poor you could survive (and maybe put on a few pounds) on nothing more than their breakfasts!

Said there was a sea view but there wasn't but for the money I'd happily recommend it and superb for steam enthusiasts as the steam train puffs along just below the property.
