The location was great. There are frequent buses, trams and two stations within walking distance. Kagoshima Chuo and Kagoshima Stations were a 25 minute walk at a casual pace from the hotel. It was close to supermarkets, convenient stores, eateries, parks, malls, stores, places of interest and the airport bus bus stop was close by. It was warm even without using the heater, and we could wear light clothing. It was easy to check-in and check-out; if you arrive late, it is okay. The guy at the reception was helpful, he provided us with a map and directions. The cleaning staff were friendly and did their job well; we would come back to find new slippers, robes, towels, garbage bags and green tea on the door handles. If we requested that we didn't want anymore, they did as we asked. The hotel provided daily, tea, toothbrushes, razors, bath salts, combs (basically everything one would need and more). There was even a choice to change your pillow to an option you preferred. Free curry and rice was available every night at 8pm. We also received a free bottle of water daily. The room had a kettle, glasses, and mugs while the bathroom had: hand soap, body soap and conditioner. The water pressure was good, there were signage and instructions on everything that were needed. We totally enjoyed our stay there! (I'm from the Caribbean)

- The staff was very nice and spoke enough English for a smooth and flawless check-in. - The amenities were excellent—you can grab anything you need near the elevators, which is super convenient. - The breakfast was tasty and cheap at 1500¥. - You can pick up extra pillows from a cabinet on each floor, which I thought was a thoughtful touch. - The location is fantastic, with multiple bus and tram stations nearby. - Most places in the city are within a 15–25 minute walk, including the ferry ports. - The AC worked perfectly, switching quickly between hot and cold settings. - There’s free curry after 8 PM on the first floor where breakfast is served. It’s such a thoughtful and unique perk!

- The hotel is located in Kagoshima’s nightlife district, surrounded by bars and clubs. Depending on your preferences, this could be a positive or negative. For me, it wasn’t ideal, but it wasn’t a huge issue either. - The room is a bit smaller than the average business hotel room, and there’s no luggage storage under the bed, which was a pain. - The bathroom was the typical small Japanese style, and the toilet flush was unusually loud. - Despite asking not to receive them, I was given new towels, slippers, and a bathrobe every day. It felt a bit wasteful and was slightly annoying, but it wasn’t a dealbreaker.

Was only here for a short stopover, but the hotel was a terrific place to spend the night, and at a great value! Shampoo bar and individual pillow selection is something different that I haven't seen in any other hotels, and definitely made the stay more unique and enjoyable. Location is just down the street from the Tenmonkan district for restaurants and stores, and transit was convenient (about a 7 minute walk from Tenmonkan bus terminal, and 15 minute walk to the ferry terminal). The breakfast buffet had a surprising and delicious variety of Japanese and Western options - would have taken more time to try all the breakfast dishes if we didn't have to rush to catch the early ferry!

Great location, especially if you like to go out. Plenty of restaurants and convenience stores around, and the place is within walking distance from Kagoshimachuo, but there are bus and railway close by as well. If you come from the airport with the Airport Limosine bus, it stops closer to the hotel (Tenmonkan). The room itself was fine, pretty much in line with what most hotels in Japan offer, but in service and amenities.

The pillow was uncomfortable and hard, but this issue is not specific to this hotel only, as many hotels i've stayed at have begun to use this type of pillows with beads inside.

Great location, right by the big shopping street so easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the airport limousine bus (5min walk). It's also really close to the major Tenmonkan bus station with buses going to all tourist locations. Staff is exceptionally kind, especially the cafeteria staff. I injured my ankle and one of the staff helped me every day during the morning buffet. The hotel provides free water, samples of high quality shampoo & conditioner, and other necessities in the lobby. Room is average size, but great price and value.

When we arrived the staff were already expecting us. So check in was fast and easy. They have all the amenities at the lobby e.g shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, toothbrush, combs, razors, all sorts of tea bags/coffee and mineral water. They also provide free drinks like coffee, tea, hot chocolate and juices at the lobby. There's a convenience shop at the lobby too. Our rooms are near the lift which was good for us seniors. The rooms are clean and the beddings are white and clean. The pillows are a little hard. We saw some pillows near the lifts but not sure if they are free or we have to pay Y1000. This is the only hotel during our stay in Kyushu that provide cables for Iphones, Androids etc. so we do not have to bring out our chargors. The bathrooms are clean and they do provide amenities as well which means we do not have to take the amenities from the lobby. We were quite disappointed as the views from rooms were some building rooftops instead of Sakurajima.. The hotel is centrally located near many eateries and shops which is very convenient so we did not eat at the hotel restaurant. It is also a short distance to the jetty to board the ferry to Sakurajima.

If only we can view Sakurajima from room.

I loved the air weave on the mattress because it helped with my lower back and shoulder pain. It was a great free trial. I dont know if it was the basic model or the top of the line. By the time, i figured out thst i wanted to take one home. It was too late. They should sell some at the lobby. I would of bought and took one home.

The carpet is a bit dirty , even if you get slippers. They should do a carpet wash because it made my calfs a bit itchy.

Check-in and Check-out was very easy to handle. The room was clean, but there was some lint on my bed sheet. It was not bothering me, just notable for the quite high standards. I think, the lights were awesome positioned and very functional. Never had it as good in ankther hotel. The bathroom was compact, but smartly designed. Even when you won't let your room clean, you get a bag of fresh towels, slippers, and a bathrobe every day on your door (outside).

I don't need a new set of towels every day. Please make it optional to reduce laundry 😊

Hotel is located in quite a center of nightlife district of Kagoshima city. It is walking distant to the commercial area, to the seaside and to public park. The hotel staff was very helpful, helping me arrange the taxi for next morning and I was able to check in 45 minutes before check in time. They provided the variety of shampoos and conditioners at the lobby where you could pump into small cup and use in the room. This is very interesting. CIty view from my room was good, breakfast buffets were included both Japanese and western options.

Kagoshima Plaza Hotel Tenmonkan is located in the heart of Kagoshima's nightlife area and near some of the city's primary tourist attractions. The rooms are typical for a Japanese business-style hotel: smallish, clean, efficient and comfortable. There is an airport stop about a block from the hotel, so there's no need to pay for an expensive taxi. I enjoyed my stay at Plaza Hotel and would return if I ever pass through Kagoshima again.
