This hotel is very clean and inviting. The hotel is close to the train station (six minute walk) but also very close to all the sites in town. This close access to the train station was great being able to travel quickly around the country. The hotel is an old army barracks and sits in a small park. We had a lovely windmill out our window. Loved watching families and children play and enjoy the spring. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. They make you feel at home and are knowledgeable and proud of their great town.

Nothing.

It is a lovely hotel and in a perfect location. The room is a good size and the radiators work properly so you adjust them if you need to. Breakfast is plentiful and the staff are very helpful.

I have already made this comment last year - while the breakfast is well put together and plentiful - you basically get a small buffet selection to yourself on a board - the bread is below par. It does not match everything else and it is a really pity. There must be a better bread supplier to be found....

Loved the bath tub and location! Very cozy hotel :)

No Air conditioning in the room. I stayed for 2 nights and unfortunately (?) those were really hot day..! I understand that it’s rare to have those hot days in the Netherlands but it was pretty hot and stuffy in the room so it was a bit hard to stay and had to go outside to get fresh air. Window only opens a little bit and since I was staying on the first floor close to restaurant, I didn’t feel comfortable opening curtains especially when bathing. AC would’ve been really nice! Also, there was no TV remote.

The location was excellent. On the edge of the city center you can walk by foot and within just a few minutes you're surrounded by fun bars and good restuarants. There is a lot to choose from. The accomodation is very pretty and the rooms have a luxurious feel to them. The bed includes multiple kinds of pillows which was an excellent addition to the room and comfort of sleep. The shower was okay, but expect a lower water pressure when multple guests are showering at the same time. The breakfast might seem expensive, but it is well worth its price and very extensive and freshly prepared for you.

Unique location very close to the centre and to a very good parking garage. Former military barracks, the hotel has a charming cachet and atmosphere. The staff are attentive and pleasant, checking in and out efficient.

The breakfast was too large :) but that is individual of course. It’s an “artisanal board” so you get a choice of … many things. And before they bring that out, you get your hot drinks followed by a beautifully prepared omelette. The comes the board and the bread basket. So, it’s really a lot for two people. Also, the bread quality did not match everything else. An artisanal board deserves sourdough. Minor point in all.

Location was great, next to a canal, close to shops and restaurants, walking distance from the train. Ambiance of the hotel was intimate and comfortable. Great European feel - right next to a windmill!

Ordering breakfast the night before was a bit tricky. If you wanted the full breakfast (platter of meats, cheese, baked goods, egg, etc. - big enough for two) you must give advance notice. Otherwise coffee and croissant was an option.

The location was great. Very near the train station as well as the busiest center of Leiden, but just far enough away from them that there weren't too many people in the area. Also, a really nice little park with tables right outside which was nice place to sit and relax and enjoy view of canal and windmill. Staff was very friendly and helpful, esp since I was in 2 different rooms for my 2 nights, and they hurried up and cleaned the 2nd room so I could get into it earlier than normal. Because of location right next to restaurant, I though it would be noisy at night, but it wasn't. I did not eat breakfast, but I did enjoy free ice-pops for guests! Beds very comfortable, rooms very clean.

I stayed in 2 different rooms, and in 2nd, there needed to be a trash can in the room as well as in bathroom since it was very small.

The location is truly excellent near the station and restaurants and by a pretty canal. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. There is also a safe box in the room. And the staff is super nice!

It is a historic building so the windows have only single glazing, meaning that sound and heat insulation is minimal. Luckily, the street is not very busy and the radiators are very efficient.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Lovely building with character and very comfortable rooms. Well placed to appreciate Leiden which is very beautiful. Train station just 5 minutes walk for exploring Amsterdam and rest of the Netherlands, very good train service. The breakfast served on a platter each morning is definitely worth going for and we had lunch one day, also highly recommended!

There is no food in the evenings, although there's a well stocked bar. Lots of good restaurants locally though, but we were tired one night and would have been happy to eat at the hotel.

We wish we had been able to stay for longer! We had a lovely spacious room, which was clean and well decorated/ furnished, with a comfortable bed, tea and coffee, and a nice bathroom. The staff were friendly. The hotel is in a great location on the edge of the historic part of the city - a great base to explore from, and very convenient to walk to the train station (less than 10min). Lots of places to eat nearby and a few supermarkets within walking distance too. We loved Leiden and would love to come back (and stay here again!)

Not super quiet - the park area/nearby lanes featured some noisy people late into the night - not the hotel's fault though. This was despite closing the skylight windows (which then made the room too warm!)
