The room was beautiful and the view was lovely. The receptionist stayed late for us to check in which was super thoughtful and kind.

The carpet looked quite worn and kind of gross. The bathroom tap exploded water everywhere if you turned it the wrong way, which we did several times🤦🏼‍♀️. Also the amount we paid seemed very high. The night before we had paid a little less and stayed in a five star hotel that was incredibly nice and clean. I also sat on the end of the twin bed my daughter slept in and the whole bed collapsed. All the bordes bracing the mattress had come off the rail so we had to put the bed back together.

After hiking all day, we arrived at the hotel just before 10pm, when the kitchen had already closed. And still the lovely lady at the reception organized for the most amazing sandwiches to be prepared, which were such a delight after a long day. Our dog was very happy to receive a welcome pack including a ball and treats. The room itself was gorgeous and so spacious, as was the bathroom with the big bathtub. The breakfast was delicious and so beautifully arranged, our children especially loved the waffles. All staff was very friendly and we can't wait to be back.

Hotel is in a good location, especially for walking or visiting Hadrian's Wall. Some of our group arrived early and were immediately made most welcome. The rooms were large and had very good facilities for walkers, with many drying facilities. The public rooms were very good and welcoming to dogs. The evening meal was high quality and included some unusual items on the menu. The breakfast was cooked to order and was good.

Although the cooked breakfast was good, other elements - juice etc were disappointing.

I can now understand why the hotel was a little bit on the pricier side compared to the others we stayed in along the Hadrian’s Wall Path. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us with late dinners and packed lunches for next day. The food was delicious. It’s the most dog friendly hotel we’ve ever stayed in - with full dog washing facilities, dog towels, and doggy welcome packs. The hotel is lovely and cozy inside. Convenient location for the path and also road. We’ll be back without our rucksacks one day!

This is lovely hotel and I would stay there again. Our room was lovely as we had a large room with 3 single beds. O We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal, with great food with an vegan option which was over price but everything else for our stay was great the breakfast, room, pack lunch was wonderful and good value.

One bed was a slated bed that collapsed and we managed to put back together. We would of called the manager but we were walking Hadrian's Wall and were so tired. One bed mattress was really well used as it dipped in the middle, but again so tired I did sleep well. The bedside table leg was broken and there was damp in the room. For our evening meal I had the vegan option which was a cauliflower dish with rice, taste lovely but at £18 was very over price.

Friendly staff, great food both dinner and breakfast and super dog friendly. We were handed a welcome box for our dog at check-in, containing a ball, some poo bags and a tub of calming treats. The dog wash-down area and towels were very useful. And if our dog had joined us at breakfast, they would have made him a doggy breakfast too! Couldn't fault the food, it was delicious with good quality produce. Compliments to both dinner and breakfast chefs! Our room was large with a very comfy bed. A fan was provided and was sufficient to cool down The staff are all friendly and professional. The hotel is very handy for Hadrian's wall and Roman settlements. There is also a brewery down the road with some great beers to try. The whole area is like a picture postcard

Nothing to not like.

The room was beautiful and so spacious! We had two very large suitcases and there was ample room for them. Bathroom and shower were also large and spacious. Room heated up lovely once we figured out the radiators and the bed and pillows were comfortable enough. The staff were lovely although I think quite busy when we arrived in the evening as they seem to run the restaurant as well as the front desk. Easy parking in a car park at the back.

A small fridge in the room would have been nice and maybe a queen or king size bed option as there was certainly enough space for both of these.

Very clean room and hotel. Breakfast was excellent as was the food in the evening. Staff were very efficient and friendly. Local ales a bonus. Facilities for dogs were excellent. Towels handy to clean up your dog after walks. Very dog friendly and welcoming. We will stay again without hesitation. Parking was excellent and there are 2 charging points for electric cars. The village is very well kept with a tea room, church and local river walks to an ancient castle.

All good.

Great small hotel in a brilliant spot for visiting Hadrian’s Wall. Two things in particular stood out- the food and the service. The food at breakfast and dinner was outstanding in taste and presentation. The bar/waiting/reception staff were extremely professional, efficient and pleasant. They worked wonderfully as a team.

We had dinner in the restaurant which was delicious. Bread was served before the meal arrived and was amongst the best bread I have ever tasted. Breakfast was equally good.

At breakfast jam and ketchup were served in little glass jars. This looks very nice but I was concerned at the waste of single use packaging. At dinner butter was served with the rolls in a small bowl. A similar system could have been used at breakfast.
