We tried very hard to find something's that wasn’t perfect about this accommodation😇 but found absolutely nothing we didn’t like. Probably the cleanest place we have stayed, from the front door to the bar, restaurant, bedroom and even the toilets , decoration was spot on .our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We even had a sofa, and a mini bar. Nice touches like delicious biscuits and quality toiletries which you often don’t get in hotels these days.👍 We had an evening meal in the restaurant area, the portions were good and all food warm and freshly cooked. A step up from usual pub food, just what we like… staff were friendly and attentive, One big comment, drinks prices wee competitive, we walked into town and had a drink at a pub less than 100 metres away which charged over £2 more for the same drinks. We recommend the black swan to anyone who wants to get away and relax in comfortable surroundings.
Despite our best efforts we were unable to find anything we didn’t like, keep up the excellent standards, we will be back 😄

Everything. The breakfasts were fantastic. The room was excellent. The dinners we had were very good as was the service. The owners were very good and on the nights they did not do meals would book for us at other restaurants in the town. For us one essential requirement is a good spacious carpark, and this hotel ticks all the boxes in that respect. The hotel is well insulated and once in the room all was silent. If we were that way again we would have no hesitation in staying there again.
Being old fashioned, for a 4 night stay, we would have preferred a wardrobe as opposed the very good hanging rack .

The staff were very helpful. The breakfast and evening meal were both lovely. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. The location was ideal. And the parking was good. My friend took ill on the Saturday evening. The staff were excellent. They responded in a swift and efficient manner, and could not have been more helpful. Good value for money.
The shower was small. It was fine for me. But for anybody bigger may struggle. And the bedroom needs a mirror. Us ladies need to do our hair. Also again this was okay for me but there were quite a few steps/stairs. For anybody with mobility issues, they may struggle.

Perfect location 👌 Excellent staff and service throughout our stay. Breakfast was gorgeous, sooo tasty and very well presented. Room was spotlessly clean, bathroom was spotless too, really comfy bed, cute little comfy sofa, well stocked hospitality tray with hot chocolate and coffee bags and a mini bar too. (We didn't use the mini bar but it was really well priced and not too expensive). A beautiful quaint and homely place to stay, would definitely recommend it and if we have a break away in the area again we would most likely stay here again.
There was nothing we didn't like, everything was great from start to finish. There are a lot of stairs to some rooms, which some might find awkward, but all adds to the character of the beautiful old building.

Great location in the centre. Bedroom was small but very comfortable and was well equipped with nice bathroom and a mini bar and lots of choice of snacks etc. we ate in the restaurant on the evening and although they were super busy we got a table at 8pm. Food was nice. My only criticism would be that there was a lot of pepper in the garlic mushrooms and also on the main meal. Maybe better to let the diner decide if they want pepper or not as it’s not to everyone’s taste. Having said that food was good and plenty of it.
Can’t say there was anything to dislike about the place however, Drinks were quite expensive in the bar. £7.00 for a pint of Landlord is pretty extortionate.

The rooms were lovely. Very clean and everything you needed. Beds were comfortable. The staff are very pleasant and friendly, they know what they are doing. The food was wonderful in the evenings and breakfast was delicious in the mornings. The restaurant was peaceful. Service was great. The location is brilliant for getting out and about on the Yorkshire Moors. We will return.
Our room (3) was quite hot as the sun was on it all afternoon. We couldn't open the window which we think was for safety as it was high up. A fan would be useful in there if the window doesn't actually open.

Jill and all her staff where very friendly and welcoming with great communication/helpfulness throughout my stay. Beautiful well presented/clean room with great facilities right in the heart of Pickering centre itself with all that offers. Secure parking at the rear was a delight to use and most welcome to store my car. Great well cooked breakfast on both mornings I stayed served with a welcoming smile and absolutely wonderful Italian restaurant (Figaro's) on the opposite side of a small village square was superb for my evening meal. Many thanks for providing such a great stay.
Not staying for longer maybe next time I am in the area.

We loved the Black Swan! The service was outstanding. I travelled every week for work before covid and I have seldom had better service anywhere in the world I've been. Definitely the best service I've had in any hotel in the UK. I have mobility issues and while the Swan has no lift the staff couldn't do enough to help with bags etc., Good free parking behind the pub with plenty of parking spots. Breakfast was very good, best I've had in a while. The only drawback was dinner was not as good as the breakfast. Bar staff are very friendly. Lots of locals come in so you know it's good. The location is perfect with a short walk to any shops and to Pickering station (NYMR). We plan on coming back later in the year.

This place is sensational! The building is cosy with lots of character and charm and a modern clean feel. The rooms are comfortable with little touches that go a long way. What can I say about the food!!!! I certainly have other words than excellent. Attention to detail with each dish. We will certainly lay be back. The staff are welcoming friendly and chatty and you feel a sense of warmth from them. very professional with a personal touch.
No one thing!!

Central to Pickering, the Black Swan, a heritage establishment, is a fine choice for visiting the area. A car park with free parking was provided. Check-in was rather easy, and the welcome was warm. The bar had some life, and the drinks were very satisfying. A friendly atmosphere was appreciated. Breakfast was pretty much to order and well presented. I enjoyed some locally sourced elements of the meal. The breakfast service was equally friendly, like all other aspects of my stay. Overall, the Black Swan is a fine service. I would attempt to stay here again should the opportunity ariseNot .
Nothing to report.
