Hotel Senator is located conveniently close to the main train station. (which itself is well connected to the airport by a frequent urban train) The staff is very friendly and we could even check in early as the room was already ready. The facilities are merely old-fashioned, but still very comfortable. I had a reservation for myself only but for an additional €40 per night, my wife could join me. This also included breakfast which I have to single out at this hotel: it is particularly delicious and the variety was exceptional. It is convenient that while the reception and breakfast area are on the first floor, the ground floor accommodates an unaffiliated convenience store which came in handy whenever I had to make a small purchase.

The elevator has an oddity that it always returns to the first floor whenever it is not in use. That alone wouldn't be an issue, but whenever you want to go to your room from the ground floor, it would always make an additional stop at the first floor.

Great location, close to the station and in a nice street. It's a charming hotel, a little old-fashioned but none the worse for that. The room was small but comfortable enough and with all the facilities I needed. Good staff and my thanks to the gentleman who carried my suitcase up to the 5th floor, as the lift wasn't working.

The only lift in the hotel wasn't working. A bit of a pain when your room is on the 5th floor. A minor quibble - It was a little disconcerting that there wasn't a coffee machine in the breakfast room. The staff brought a coffee jug quickly, but it was much more than I needed.

Fantastic hotel! The location was perfect, so convenient - a stone's throw away from Hamburg central station, which was brilliant. Restaurants, local markets, everything is accessible from here. We felt safe here, the decor was classy and the room was super clean.The staff were brilliant. We had to check in really late but a great staff member was at the front desk, waiting to let us in to the premises and welcome us. Great thanks to him, Amelia, Ellen who was great to us on night reception, the cleaning staff on our floor, Olga and Sabina. Special thanks to Mireilli in the restaurant for making us feel so welcome in the restaurant. Brilliant breakfast, brilliant service. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended

Everything was great

Hotel Senator is only a short walk from Hamburg Central Station. Our room (top floor double room with balcony) was spacious with a large, comfortable double bed and good sized bathroom. Despite being in the centre of Hamburg, the hotel is in a really peaceful location. The breakfast selection is one of the very best we’ve experienced. Finally, a lovely touch, is the voucher for a complimentary drink which all guests receive.

Slightly outdated furnishing and tired decor.

The decor of the hotel has a classical feel to it, which made it feel more upmarket than I expected. The room was fairly large, with the both in a slightly odd diagonal position due to the way the walls were set, but it was nicely furnished. It was just the other side of the station to the main city, but Hamburg is fairly large, so I mostly used S/U-bahn to get around, rather than walk.

You have to leave the key with the front desk when going out, which is quite uncommon these days. I returend fairly late at night and wasn't entirely sure how to get back in at first, as the doors had been locked (there was an intercom off to the side). Make sure you have ID with you, in case there is any confusion.

Close to the central station, could walk to many places, near reasonable restaurants, welcome drink, bath sink, coffee service in room, refrigerator, and VERY good breakfast, more than expected. I felt their effort to host their guests well with good food. This hotel is old fashion, and the building is old, but it has good old days facility such as bath tab, coffee maker, and refrigerator. I appreciate them.

Very bad, almost none WIFI connection. I do not recommend if you plan to work online in this hotel.

Breakfast buffet was exceptional. The hotel has real class to it, but still feels plush and comfy vs sterile and modern. The rooms had all the extras like a fridge, coffee-maker, pants press, plus the usual amenities. The location is very convenient - 5 min walk to the central train station and a 10 min walk to the main shopping street and center of the city.

The spacious bedroom, the walk in shower, the decor. The male staff member, I think his name is Nicholas, he only works nights on the weekends, he was so very helpful, kind and always smiling, he goes above and beyond to help guests.

Not sure about handing the key over to reception before leaving the hotel for the day. Yet I found out later that it’s to ensure guests don’t lose the key whilst out and about. We also wasn’t told that the doors to hotel close at 11pm, so we had to ring the bell to be let back in.

The breakfast was very good. Huge choice of options including scrambled eggs and bacon, smoked salmon, fresh fruits, the list is endless. Excellent!. Location was very central and ideal for visiting the Christmas markets.

Unfortunately the lift was broken when we arrived on Saturday but was working again on Monday morning.

Everything about the hotel, I have been there few times before and I am certainly coming back !!!
