Tucked away, up a short stairwell, behind the bustle of shops near the St Francis Basilica, Hotel Sorella Luna has an immediate charm, fitting for the beautiful historic town. The charming and friendly staff were more than welcoming, considering that our flight to Perugia was diverted to Rome, meaning that we only arrived in Assisi very late, just before reception closed. The room had comforting decor, and faced the main street, allowing for fleeting views over the rooftops to part of the Umbrian landscape. We were greeted by an ample sized bed, a long desk, shelves, hangers, a safe and minibar, and the underfloor heating soothed our feet as we slipped on the complimentary slippers. The bathroom was equipped with a bidet and hairdryer, and a small set of soap, body wash and shower caps. The shower was deliciously warm, especially after a long journey. An important note for many international travellers: you will not find a tea/coffee/kettle set in the rooms, however the minibar was packed with snacks and drinks, which are paid for at the end of your stay. The bed and pillow were comfortable. The mattresses may feel like it is too firm initially, but it is memory foam and it will soften down after a few minutes, so just bear with it and you will sleep like a log. Breakfast is served in a room just outside the main door, up some short steps. The staff were happy to make fresh coffee. A small, but sufficient, selection of items were available each day: scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, bacon, cheese, ham, breads, cereals, croissants, cake/pie, juices and fruit. Note: For those who have gluten intolerance, they also offered a selection of gluten-free items including muesli, biscuits, rice cakes and chocolate wafers. Wi-fi was available throughout the hotel, and the reception area was warm and welcoming, with details of the activities at the main historical sites in the town. Great location, in a charming town.

This is not the most accessible hotel, as there are stairs up to reception, stairs to the breakfast room, and stairs to almost all rooms. We spotted an accessible entrance on the last day, but did not ask about it. To access the breakfast room, you need to leave the reception and walk outside for just a few seconds, which can be slippery when it is raining, so caution is needed. Important note, not related to the hotel, but as a caution as not everyone will be aware: Assisi itself is not the most accessible town... It has narrow cobble/stone streets, and most roads have an incline. The town is beautiful and charming, but do plan well if you have accessibility needs. If you struggle, but can still tolerate some steps, it is a great hotel to stay in.

The hotel is beautiful, modern and chic inside of a very old building. The whole hotel felt fresh and clean, and cool art adorns the halls. There’s a lovely rooftop terrace with lounge chairs. Everything was small—my room was quite compact—but in a cozy way, not cramped or crowded. It’s a 2 minute walk from the Basilica and a 10 minute walk to the main square. The breakfast buffet included yogurt, cereal, meats, pastries, and the hotel staff offered to make coffee and eggs for me as well—definitely worth the few extra euros. I thought Sorella Luna was a really great value and am only sad I didn’t stay longer than two nights.

The minibar didn’t have a price list? This is really the only thing I can think of. I greatly enjoyed my stay.

I really liked the hotel, mainly for its very central position. The room [single] was very small but bed was comfy. The bathroom is tight. The breakfast was ok and had what one would expect: if only things like the coffee and the eggs were warmer it would help. There is no reception st night but did not need any and could leave the hotel without any problem early morning. The staff were ok but could offer to help with sites etc.

On checking in I did ask for a room with no steps due to my health problems [and already getting to reception there are some steps] but simply told they were few when in fact there were too many for me. Was not offered another room.

This was my Second Time staying at this Hotel. I love the Location Central to everything .The Hotel Is Spotless your Room is Cleaned every day. The Interiors of the Hotel is 🌞 Bright .Breakfast was always Good 👍 but now they have introduced an even better Breakfast with Scrambled Eggs and 🥓 Bacon which is Great. Their is an abundance of different things for Breakfast So it would appeal to Everyone. The Staff are Very friendly and would go out of their way to Help You

Nothing Loved it

Amazing location just steps down from the basilica. We were able to see the outside after dark all lit up without the crowds of tourists. The hotel was newly renovated and super clean. Staff was friendly and exceptionally helpful.

For some reason the air conditioner wasn't working. Thankfully it was early May and did cool off at night so with the windows open it wasn't terribly uncomfortable. Staff was very apologetic as it was the whole hotel not just our room.

The location was excellent and the hotel very comfortable. The continental breakfast was good and the staff were on hand for anything that was needed. I stayed with family for 4 days before moving to a different venue for a wedding. We felt very relaxed and welcome at Sorrella Luna.

On the first day the air conditioning wasn’t working but I was provided with a fan while the engineer worked on it. It was extremely hot during our stay so once the air con was running again it kept the room at a very good temperature.

Beautiful big room with sitting area in renovated hotel in historical buildings. Comfortable and airy with great views. We liked it so much that we stayed an extra night, which they happily had available. Close to everything we wanted to see in Assisi with plenty of space to avoid the ever present crowds. The staff were very helpful, kindly assisting us in bringing our bicycles up the front steps to store safely indoors.

The staff was super kind & helpful! Both Federica and Dinese made things easier. The breakfast room is nice...plenty of simple choices. And great capuchinno! It is only about 250 meters from the Basilica of St Francis. Dinner recommendations were very good. We really enjoyed the Ristorante Pizzeria "Il Menestrello!"

Location near the basilica and in easy (if uphill) reach of the towns places of interest. About 30 minute walk downhill to train station. Attractive modern decoration in hotels public areas.

Would have liked more fresh fruit on breakfast buffet.

Perfect location. Very comfortable room. We have visited several times and noted the recent refurbishments had enhanced the hotel without changing it’s charm. Helpful and attentive staff. Good breakfast.
