Opuntia is a tiny gem of a hotel with a cafe which is open to the public during the day. There are several lovely spacious clean rooms where you can stay. Breakfast is served in the cafe and the choices are good. The cafe has tables both in an indoor area accessed from the street and in a soothing open courtyard, You can relax there with a drink at any time during the day and we also ate lunch there because we liked the salads. Hotel Opuntia is simple and good, the staff are helpful and the location is right in the centre of Mijas. There are many restaurants, shops and frequent local buses and taxis to travel to other places. We look forward to staying there again.

A wonderful breakfast was taken in the enclosed courtyard with a Lemon Tree growing in the midst of it. It also doubled up as their dining area for non - residents & called `Viento Sur`. It was very popular to locals & tourists alike. I was well looked after by Maman & the whole Team during my stay. My bedroom was stunning with a vaulted ceiling which made the room very light & airy. On the wall behind the bed was a fantastic painting presumably done by a local artist.. On one side of the bedroom it overlooked the courtyard below & on the other side it had the benefit of an outside terrace area which overlooked the roofs of nearby properties, & it wasn`t overlooked. This space was shared with the room next door which was not a problem. It had a small table, chairs & a lovely half parasol that was attached to the wall. It was a lovely place to sit especially in the evening. The hotel was very minimalist, super clean. A lot of thought & attention have gone into it by the owner/Director. I loved everything about my stay here. I was very well cared for during my stay & nothing was too much trouble. Thank You to you all.

My holiday stay was too short in my eyes!

Excellent, warm welcome in the cafe on arrival along with a welcome drink. A very pretty cafe with courtyard. When taken to our room, it exceeded our expectations. Light, airy, spacious, quiet, clean, modern with air con and a private terrace (room 8) Breakfast was beautiful;a choice of 4 and order 1 for the following day. So happy we booked this hotel. Don't be fooled by 3 stars! It's an amazing hotel in the most picturesque town I have ever seen. Excellent public transport to Fuengirola (only €1.55 on bus) Thank you Opuntia for an amazing holiday.

I can honestly say there is nothing I didn't like. The welcome, the cafe, the room, the breakfasts, the staff, the location were excellent.

The location is central and right in the middle of the village making everything super close (even though the size of the village makes everything close anyway 😄). The main door is closed after dark which gives an additional sense of security. The check-in was done through security key box (contacted via WhatsApp on arrival day) as we arrived in the evening. This worked like a charm as everything was explained really well. In the hallway was a fridge with complementary water bottles as well as fruit on top of it. The whole place was very peaceful and quiet. The breakfast was served in the restaurant (part of the same building) in the atrium of the hotel with a nice lemon tree (with huge lemons ). The staff was exceptionally friendly and made us and our two dogs feel very welcome.

A true hidden gem. Right in the heart of the pueblo this contemporary hotel is simply stunning. We were warmly welcomed with a complimentary drink in the lovely restaurant while we checked in. Our room was absolutely beautiful overlooking the courtyard and very spacious. Very comfortable bed, tea and coffee maker, gorgeous bathroom with large shower. Spotlessly clean hotel with a lovely rooftop terrace which provides additional space to relax and enjoy views over the pueblo. The hallway had a reading area and a fridge with complimentary water and fresh fruit. Breakfast was served in the courtyard and we could preorder our choice from the menu of 4 options. Fresh croissants, breads, array of cheeses and meats, fruit salad , juice , coffee, tea ,all delicious. Staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and efficient. This hotel is one not to miss. We could not fault it and will certainly return. Highly recommended.

Parking can be challenging but persevere! That’s normal staying in a Spanish pueblo!

Magical Mijas Escape: A Review of OPUNTIA Hotel Boutique I recently enjoyed a one-night stay at the OPUNTIA Hotel Boutique in Mijas, and it was nothing short of a five-star experience. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed. Location, Location, Location! The hotel's central location in the heart of Mijas Pueblo was perfect. I could easily explore the charming village's cobbled streets and whitewashed houses on foot. A Feast for the Senses The breakfast was a true highlight. Fresh, high-quality ingredients came together to create a delicious and satisfying spread. It was the perfect fuel for a day of exploring. A Home Away From Home The hotel itself had a wonderful atmosphere. It was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, feeling more like a luxurious home than a typical hotel. Overall Impression If you're looking for a special place to stay in Mijas, look no further than the OPUNTIA Hotel Boutique. With its superb location, exceptional service, and delicious breakfast, it's a true gem. I can't wait to return someday!

Absolutely loved our stay, staff were lovely, the location was perfect, the check in was a bit unusual being at the Cafe of the hotel instead of a reception but the host Juan was excellent, very helpful, informative and gave us personalised service. Breakfast was delicious. The room was modern and very comfortable it lacked a bar fridge in the room although there was a shared fridge in the foyer stocked with free water and a bowl of fruit. Exceptional stay would definitely return, highly recommend it.

We absolutely LOVED our stay here!! The room was beautiful, the breakfast was AMAZING, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The location was absolutely perfect right in the square. The Hotel is also a wee café where you can order lunch and coffee throughout the day, which was also absolutely delicious!! We would definitely come back here again!!

Our room was looking onto the square which could be quite noisy at night and might disturb your sleep if you were a light sleeper.

I cannot think that there's a nicer boutique style little hotel in Mijas. As the other reviewers mentioned there are lovely touches like fruit and in the lobby outside the rooms (cute little sofa and sitting area) and free water in a fridge always available. The staff were the very best thing - so delightful and kind and always smiling. Breakfast was delicious, prepared to order, and after a few days of travelling around Andalusia having buffet breakfasts it was lovely to have something freshly and thoughtfully prepared. If you're a light sleeper maybe ask for a room overlooking the interior courtyard - the rooms overlooking the square outside might be loud as there are a couple of outdoor restaurants that stay open late, and also people take horse and carriage rides around Mijas until quite late! We were fine - it didn't disturb us at al (the soundproofing is pretty good in the bedroom). But if you are sensitive to noise it might be good to know. The advice about using the town car park on the hotel website is a good idea - during the day huge busloads of people come to Mijas on day trips from the resorts on the coast - you cannot move for people! So trying to drive near the hotel is nearly impossible. The walk from the car park is only about 5 minutes -if you can get past all the people! Even better try to arrive once the coach loads have left in the evening - that would make it easier. The main streets in the centre of Mijas get incredibly busy in the day time, but if you just walk 5 minutes up the hill you will find yourself on your own in the beautiful pretty white streets that Mijas is famous for. All those streets have beautiful flower pots decorating the walls outside every house - with different colour pots and different colour flowers on different streets! It's lovely, and very few of the 1,000s of tourists seem to make it up there (even though it is literally 5 minutes away from the busy main square and souvenir streets.)

The location was excellent as it was at the heart of Mijas pueblo, we were able to walk around the village without transport and the local bus stop was a 5 minutes walk from the hotel if we wished to explore further afield such as Fuengirola or Torremolinos for a few hours which we did and thought was excellent. Breakfast was delicious and healthy, it was enough to keep you going until lunch time as the portions were generous!

Everything was fabulous, can’t think of anything that we didn’t like. Staff were helpful and friendly, always with a smile on their faces and happy to answer any questions.
