We stayed in the Sterling Moss room, which was accessible from outside the main building, and along a small open landing . That in itself gave an added element of difference to the hotel experience. The room itself was beautifully presented and decorated with the added bonus of an iron and ironing board (a rarity in most hotels). Tea and coffee facilities were provided, along with biscuits and bottled water. The room was spacious and well equipped. We would definitely stay in the hotel again.

Our room overlooked the back of the hotel , above the kitchen. The window had been opened, and the room smelt of food when we initially walked in. The kitchen ventilation unit was also outside the window ( that explained the smell) and was quite loud. Thankfully, this was switched off after the kitchen closed, but came back on again in the morning at around 06:00 when work started in the kitchen. Not a major issue, but one to be aware of when booking.

Room was very cosy, lovely colours. Nespresso machine was a lovely touch and fresh milk was available. Toiletries in the bathroom and lovely fluffy towels. We stayed in the annexe but found the walls a bit thin, we could hear the Tv on in the room next door but apart from that a lovely stay. Breakfast was in abundance and nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and the food was tasty and very well presented. Excellent service, we were really looked after. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a short getaway,

Thin walls in the annexe bedroom.

Excellent overall, clean and well-presented and well-equipped room. Thoughtful touches here and there showing that the rooms haven’t just been thrown together. the night light in the bathroom was helpful and there was a coffee machine. Every member of staff I met was polite and helpful.

As it’s an old building conversion, the sound separation between the rooms isn’t the best but it’s understandable. It means you can hear other rooms flushing their toilet's and walking about a bit sometimes. This wasn’t enough to spoil our stay though and we would go back again.

This Hotel was chosen for it's proximity to the Abbey and it didn't disappoint. We were welcomed by very friendly and attentive staff. The room was delightful and had everything (and more) you could possibly want - including a lovely welcoming note from the Housekeeping Team, thank you - and was extremely clean and comfortable. We had an good meal in the restaurant in the evening and the breakfast (included) was amazing, with a lot of choices from the buffet and the cooked breakfast menu. Once again the staff were lovely and we couldn't have wished for a better place to stay. There is ample parking on Site and, although this Hotel is on the High Street, it was very quiet in the room.

the rooms are amazing...the hotel is amazing.

breakfast wasn't good...the waitress didn't ask if we wanted toast ...poached eggs were over cooked. we were not told cereals and yoghurt etc were in the next room. don't get me wrong it was very nice and tasty but sadly the finishing touches didnt happen. our evening meal again was really nice but the gourmet shares were three peices of battered cheese... enough for one just...even the waitress made comment that the portions were small. my friend had a burger which was served with a black bun and tasted burnt she said...we asked the waitress what is was and she said charcoal bun....looks different on the plate but not to my friends taste. bit gimmicky we felt.

Easy check-in, lovely room with comfortable bed. Nice to have iron/board if needed. Toiletries great. Happy to find that breakfast was not just continental. Food excellent, breakfast and two evening meals. Staff friendly and happy to help with any requests. Great location, walks, Dorchester Abbey opposite was lovely. So easy to get to Oxford park/ride

Breakfast 7-9am during week a little early although it does get you up and out ;) Small points: Had some previous guests (ladies) underwear in bedside drawer maybe cleaners could check before next guest. Loved the under sink drawer but when I wanted to put my toiletry bag in found it needed cleaning. Even though I gave it a clean had to line it with tissue paper.

The food was good. We were upgraded to the suite as I had rquested a quiet room when we booked. When we arrived our room faced the main road. The suite was lovely. The taller girl with the thickset glasses was helpful and had a pleasant attitude.

The staff seemed very inexperienced. No-one explained fo us that we helped ourselves to breakfast cereal and fruit juice etc. The girl who seated us the first morning was bordering on sullen. No good morning or how are you. There were issues in the bar area both nights. I asked for a Virgin mojito the 2nd night. The server did not know how to make it. When it finally arrived it had no mint or lime in it. The suite was lovely but a fridge would be a great addition. There were also quite a few cobwebs!

Beautiful historic building and decor sympathetic. Outside areas very spacious and gardens attractive. plenty of parking. Rooms tastefully decorated with plenty of storage space. Bed comfortable. Beautiful bathroom with lovely toiletries. Staff polite.

Had to ask for extra teabags as we were only given two. We're not coffee drinkers. When room was serviced only two teabags given again. This is the only fault we found. Very trivial fault but going forward perhaps housekeeping could be a little bit more generous with tea as there was plenty of coffee on the hospitality tray and also there was a coffee machine in the room too.

Where do I start amazing we were overwhelmed & so excited on arrival to be given the Agatha Christie room we felt like royalty! Beautiful & unexpected. The staff were great nothing too much trouble they were enthusiastic & even had a little time for a chat. The food at breakfast & our evening meal were beautiful cooked & tasted amazing! Such good value & good size portions had to share mine! Gordon the general manager shared lots of history of the building which was fascinating. He was extremely helpful & happy to help us. Elise our waitress was so sweet & chatty it made a huge difference to talk to two members of staff like real people who obviously love their jobs & care about what they do. Thank you both very much. We would highly recommend this hotel stunning! & The garden are beautiful too lots of little quirky areas to enjoy loved it we will be back THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Well done

It was perfect!

The room was very spacious with a large bathroom. Excellently furnished with everything you could possibly need provided. Breakfast was very tasty with good quality ingredients & a good choice. Very large car park, surrounding area was very peaceful. We ate in the Bar both nights which had good options & as breakfast all was freshly cooked to order. The later check out of 11am meant were weren't hurried.

At times there was a slight wait for service at the bar but this wasn't a problem for us as we were on a relaxed break with no time constraints.
