The breakfast was very good, as were the restaurant meals we had. My small plate Sunday roast was absolutely delicious and the size of meal was perfect for a meal as a little person. It meant I didn't have to waste any of it 😊 We stayed in room one and it was huge and almost felt like a suite. The shower room was very good and the bed was very comfortable. It was nice to be so close to the lovely shops and cafes/restaurants in Lyndhurst.
Occasionally the waitress got things wrong for breakfast, but she was very apologetic and swiftly resolved the situation. The road was rather noisy but that has to be expected as the Stag is on the High Street. Earplugs were thoughtfully provided

The hotel had lots of great features that come with an older property but our room was clean and nicely decorated; the bathroom and shower was modern and looked newly installed; the breakfast room was well laid out; the parking was small and limited but we managed to get a space each day after being out. The location was great being in the centre of the main shopping road. I loved the fact that although we had not requested our room to be serviced, a paper bag had been left outside our door with essentials such as a toilet roll, teas and coffees etc. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was very warm but a fan had been provided. One window did open but as we were in the centre of the main street, it was a little noisy to keep it open.

Although the room was classed as 'cosy', it was quite tight for space in the bedroom area, however the ensuite was spacious; after all it is a listed building so just be mindful of this, as it wouldn't put us off staying in the same room again. Some nice touches in the room of with history, toilettes and tea / coffee facilities. All areas were lovely and clean. We were a little daunted that when we arrived we were warned there was a band playing the evening and when we got in our room on the 1st floor there were ear plugs, however the music stopped at 11pm and then only a quiet conversional murmur - we slept well but others might not if they are lighter sleeps so male them aware when you book if it is a problem. The breakfast was pleasant and the full English 'Stag' breakfast was very tasty. Cereal and juice was help yourself and you just needed to ask for tea / coffee to be served to you as and when required or topped up. Nice restaurant area. All the staff we meet were very welcoming and made our stay enjoyable. I'd have no hesitation to stay their again. Many thanks.
We were overall happy but others may wish to be aware of certain rooms and their size and possible noise from the ground floor up to 11pm if there is a band playing. The car park gets busy when the bar has events on, so be mindful you might not get parked straight away. And remember to sign your car in inside for your stay, not just sign it in.

Lovely hotel and bar in a great location. Only 15 minutes from Beaulieu motor museum and right next door to a a Ferrari showroom so perfect for my car-obsessed son. Lovely town in a beautiful area which I’d have liked to have more time to explore. Room was really nice, beds were comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful, good breakfast. Would definitely return.
The room, especially the bathroom, was really hot. We had the fan on and the windows open which worked well for us but meant there was a lot of noise from outside (just general road noise and music/chatter from the beer garden and the pub next door) which some people may find annoying. Would have liked a decaf coffee at breakfast.

Great stay, in a king room. Big room, big bed, big bathroom! Very comfortable, with all facilities you could ask for. Friendly service and lovely breakfast. Hotel is in a central location, on the high street. They even provided ear plugs, in case we were disturbed by 'late night revellers'...not required!
One and only negative, was that in the morning, we had no hot water. An issue with ancient pipes! But once reported, was rectified and they kindly offered a later check out, if anyone wanted to go back to the room to shower... So nothing we didn't like!

It was extremely busy when we arrived, but a member of staff was able to check us in straight away. Our room was very nice with a large en-suite walk-in shower. Beds were very comfy, with ample tea/coffee supplied. I initially wasn't too happy with being allocated a room on the top floor, which is reached by flights of quite steep stairs and going through a few doors - but in all fairness, the staff didn't know I would be accompanied by a 50kg Rotty! It really didn't mar our stay at all. We were served breakfast on both days by Liam, who was extremely friendly and polite despite the restaurant area being very busy. Breakfast menu was spot on for every taste - and my dog appreciated a little something himself from the kitchen. We also had lunch on the Saturday - steak cooked as I ordered. All the staff had a smile and greeting for us each time we saw them - they are a great credit to the pub. The car park was fairly full when we arrived - but it was early evening - and the pub is obviously very popular. I'm so pleased we booked our stay at The Stag - would recommend to anyone visiting the area - especially if you have a dog.
Nothing - apart having not stayed longer.

Staff, in particular Jake, friendly and very efficient. The room was spotlessly clean and the beds were nice and comfortable. Slept like a log. Cooked breakfast was lovely-the mushroom in particular cooked and seasoned to perfection. Hotel is in an excellent position on the main street in Lyndhurst.
This didn’t bother us at all but I’ll mention this for the sake of future bookings. There is a sister pub-The Mailman’s Arms-next door to The Stag hotel that our room overlooked. They had a live band performing the night we stayed, and the music could clearly be heard in our room. Be aware of this, and check for live performances when booking! The band were excellent and the music serenaded us to sleep.

This Hotel is very friendly and they pay particular attention to your dog. We had three breakfasts in the morning, 2 human and one large plate of sausages for our dog. Completely unexpected and he loved every mouthful. Room was lovely, clean, comfortable and beyond our expectation. Definitely will be returning to stay and hopefully have the roast for all 3 of us! We had dinner the night before and the food was fantastic. Once again this was beyond our expectation and would return just to eat there again.

Staff were all lovely and super nice, loved all the dogs that were staying there at the time, breakfast was delicious and the birds in the aviary in the garden were adorable. The view from the room was so lovely, you get 2 hair dryers, tea, coffee even green tea, no hot chocolate which I tend to prefer but that's not an issue I just brought some from a shop along the road, 2 fans in the room, lots of towels, the bar of soap is quite drying so bring your hand cream, but overall I would recommend and I will be back. If you want, cosy aesthetic village vibes stay here you'll love it. Perfect window spot for reading in the navy blue room with the beams. ❤️
The double bed is 2 beds attached to eachother but not lengthways, widthways so the join comes just at your hips when you sleep, which isn't horrific but just made my back sore the next day, not a huge deal at all, but if you're plus size or a tall person it's quite uncomfortable.

The room was very comfortable and of a good size. The beer selection was fairly good. The evening meal was good and relatively well priced.
Breakfast was restricted to an either/or. We are used to having cereal with yogurt and toast + something cooked when we go to a hotel not a choice between the two. Also the stairs to the room were very narrow which made going up and down with the dog very difficult. I know that they are restricted by the building itself but it was awkward.
