The hosts must love their job, you cannot fault their friendly professional approach. The room, though on the small side was great for our stay, we do travel quite a lot and this is the first place where a flask of fresh milk for your morning cuppa was outside your room by 7am. The breakfast was first class; you leave your selection in the hall and it is ready and freshly cooked for you next day. Car parking nearby is a major problem, but so is it all over Hawes.

The car parking could be a problem I do have mobility issues and we coped fine. Those with mobility problems might find the steps to the entrance a problem, but we coped. The TV was a pain to keep having to retune every time we switched off, but as I said, it is a minor inconvenience and does not detract from the quality of the rest of the facilities

Herriots in Hawes is a cafe cum gallery and B&B in the centre of the village. Check in was friendly and welcoming and our room (No 6) is very clean and smart. It is also nicely decorated with light colours and has two good sized windows so it feels light and airy. Also, as it’s at the top of the house, it has lovely views of the village and surrounding countryside. Breakfast was served in the gallery tearoom and was excellent. After a fresh fruit salad with yogurt we both enjoyed the full English which was delicious and passed my simple three requirements for a cooked breakfast, ie quality ingredients, perfectly cooked and nicely presented. It was perfect. This was our first stay at Herriots but as it will now be our preferred hotel in Hawes we will certainly be back.

I took my girlfriend here for her surprise birthday weekend trip. From my initial contact with Glen, he was so helpful & accommodating with any queries and requests I had. When we arrived, we were greeted by Glen and his wife had arranged for some lovely flowers & Prosecco to be in the room as part of my partners birthday surprise. The room was lovely and clean with everything we needed, the breakfast was great with plenty of it & the dinner recommendation was excellent too. Thanks both, we’ll be back ! 5 STAR'S FOR ME ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Best place we have stayed this trip. (We were walking some of the Pennine Way). The room was at the top with good bright views. Attention to detail wonderful. A small flask of fresh milk was delivered to outside room each morning to have with our waking tea. Breakfast was good quality. The breakfast room was nicely decorated and the staff were friendly.

The welcome and the breakfast. Had the home made marmalade and it was superb. If you are walking the Pennine Way then you are right on it. Even enjoyed the humour in the WiFi password.

Not a criticism of Herriots, but of Hawes itself. You cannot park at the property if you are driving. Not even easy to drop off your stuff and find a space as Herriot's is right on a narrow one way street. There is a small carpark just down the road which is a 100m walk. Spaces are tight and you can park on the road near there but if you have mobility issues or trouble carrying luggage then you might need to ask for assistance. The supermarket in town closes at 6pm

Great location, really friendly host, excellent breakfast. Fresh milk left outside our room to go with a morning cuppa was a nice touch.

Room warm - window catch broken. A minor detail tho, we propped it open :-)

Room nice and bright and it was a bonus having 2 windows in our room with lovely scenery view and up towards the town. Proprietor very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was very good and plenty of choice available. Plenty of free parking available within close walking distance to property (understand there are restrictions on some market days, but didn’t impact us). Would highly recommend staying here, we hope to visit again. Plenty of places to eat and to visit in Hawes and further afield. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
