The location was perfect for walking. The breakfast was outstanding and all the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The property has undergone an extensive renovation scheme in the public areas and everything is very fresh and clean.

The evening meals were small and felt a bit over-priced for what you get. It was a bit of a let down after such a fantastic breakfast. We did discuss this with the owner at the time.

Breakfast was good. Evening meal not ready for Master chef yet. Though adequate.

Initially room supplied unsatisfactory. Dark and pokey next to fire escape. To be fair room was changed when a complaint was made, but no WiFi in that room. Staff very nice indeed.

Love the location of the hotel. Breakfast was outstanding with Hammonds sausages, so much so we visited Hammonds shop in Bainbridge and bought some. We weren't very hungry at dinner so just had starter and shared a dessert but what we had was excellent. The room no. 5 was spacious and comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space. My wife is a light sleeper so the road noise disturbed her and next time we would request a room at the back of the hotel.

Bathroom shelf fitting could be improved with a unit without metal railed shelf as things slipped through. Could have done with a towel holder near the washbasin and bath towel fitting. We appreciate hotel has just been taken over so this is may be something in their plans for the future.

Excellent breakfasts with plenty of choice. A welcoming and clearly locally popular bar that stocked local ales was a very convivial place to sink the odd pint. Other drinks were avaliable of course. On several evenings we had dinner in Middle House, and while the house aim is to be middle in all things including price, in our view it had the best food in the area. Our room was on the second floor, which helped burn off a few calories; it was comfortable and was all we needed. The hotel is dog friendly (execpt in the dining room) and we were more than happy with the friendly dogs, even though we hadn't brought ours. Dog owners ate in the bar. It may have been just Yorkshire hospitality but absolutely everyone at Middle House was wecoming from start to finish; while nothing seemed too much trouble, we felt treated more like friends than guests.

Only one small niggle, I had to hold the toilet set up in the en suite.

We loved our stay at Middle House, the room was comfy and warm, with a big bathroom. Everything was spotlessly clean. The cooked breakfast was hearty and very tasty. The food in the restaurant is good and the staff are very friendly - I would highly recommend a stay here

My only criticism would be that some of the restaurant meals aren't as plentiful as others. My husband had the burger and chips which was huge and priced at £17 but my scampi was £19 and I only got 7 small pieces of scampi, a few chips but a lot of salad - I would've expected more scampi for that price.

Breakfast was included in the price. All very tasty, plenty of choice for a hot breakfast from a full Yorkshire, to poached eggs on toast, salmon etc. There was also fruit, cereal, juices and pastries etc. along with gluten free choices. Dinner was really tasty too, curry was great and the scampi and chips went down a treat. The twin room was lovely and well decorated. The beds were really comfortable and nice heavy curtains which would be great in cooler weather. The bathroom had a bath with a shower over, the shower was good and powerful! Coffee and tea making facilities were also in the room. We met John, one of the owners. He was so hard working!! He never stopped, what a lovely person he is.

Literally one thing that wasn't as good as we'd like was the people on the floor above walked back and forth and it was really loud when they did. Although, I think it was just one of the 2 upstairs that was very heavy footed maybe.

Loved the ambience, captured Christmas brilliantly. Every member of staff were friendly, helpful and respectful. It was toasty warm, even though it was very cold outside, and the bedroom was so cosy and complimentary tea tray good, replenished daily at our request. Essentials provided in bathroom. Catered excellently, both with food and drink selection, breakfast certainly set us up for the day. Welcomed our dog. The locals were very friendly and chatty.

Honestly can't thing of single thing.

The location was amazing. The restaurant and bar were very nice. It was wonderful having parking in the back of the hotel. The staff was very nice. The room was very comfortable. Loved the set-up with the two chairs and TV.

The tub/shower. The bottom seal of the glass screen was loose and eventually fell off. The bathroom floor ended up really wet. A little treacherous stepping out of the high tub as well. Having the rubber mat for the tub was a must. Would have liked a true king with a softer mattress instead of two hard twins pushed together.

Everything was perfect! Lovely peaceful location. Parking at rear of property had plenty of space. Our room was massive with it's own lounge chairs and overlooking the front street. Facilities were excellent. The bed was very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were very tasty and filling. Staff were very friendly and there was a lovely village atmosphere in the bar, as it was frequented by locals too.

Nothing to fault at this property.
