Fantastic Christmas Stay! My husband and I had an amazing Christmas experience at this hotel, with our little dog who was made to feel very welcome! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, from the bar staff and waitresses to housekeeping. The NEW management team went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful time. The hotel offers a free car park for residents, which was really convenient. The food was outstanding, especially the Christmas Lunch, and the breakfast and evening meals were equally delicious. The location is perfect for walkers, and it's an excellent base for exploring the surrounding towns and beaches. There is also a lovely pebble beach a 1 mile walk from the hotel which is accessible by path which was perfect for our morning dog walks! I highly recommend staying here!

The hotel is charming and remote, offering a peaceful retreat. The only minor downside is that the roads leading to the hotel are narrow and steep (Typical in Devon). However, with a bit of care, they are easily passable. Despite this, it’s a small inconvenience for such a wonderful stay!

The location is beautiful and the grounds of the hotel are lovely. A short, relatively flat walk down to the shingle bay. The hotel sits in a small valley on the Devon coast. The food was good quality, pub style fare. Not fine dining but good portions and a reasonable choice.

The room we had was large and nicely decorated however the bed is a standard double with quite a firm mattress and not particularly comfortable. We are not 'large' people and we found the bed to be too small for us to sleep comfortably. For those who are used to a standard double bed the room would be fine. It was nice to have two pillows per person and the towels are changed daily if required.

This is a charming Inn in a very beautiful location. My room was fabulous. The ensuite had a window and a bathtub - heaven after a long hike Breakfast was good and served in a beautiful room with a wall of glass looking out on the garden. The location is great - in a forest, close to a beach and the coastal path. I loved the dancing performance in the evening

The noise from the kitchen fans. The kitchen was below my room. I was in despair about sleep but the fans went off at 9:30 pm so I was at peace until 7 am the next day. I think the hotel should ask if a guest is noise sensitive before assigning that room. The receptionist wasn't great. Seemed to see guests as an unfortunate interruption.

Fabulous.... Lunch was lovely, we both had a burger with bacon jam. Dinner was gorgeous, I had the chicken, hubby had the fish pie, which was so nice apparently he couldn't share. The breakfast was the best full English I have had. I'm assuming the meat is locally sourced, it was delicious. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is rural. Great for walkers. Great place to unwind from the city. The Inn also has beautiful well kept gardens. We will definitely be returning there as there are many walks we did not cover and it's such a lovely place to unwind. Note: The Inn sits in the Heddon Valley run by the National Trust, quiet, tranquil, peaceful, there's nothing to do but relax at the Inn or explore the area.

The road into the valley is very narrow and steep.

Staff were lovely despite having to carry out a number of roles and always helpful. Room was spotless (our thanks to housekeeping) and location perfect for coast path trail running. We didn’t expect the food to be as good as it was - as a veggie, the choice is usually a bland vegetable but the Wellington was wonderful (2 nights in a row, loved it). Lastly we appreciated that the room TV had streaming services as standard - this isn’t always the norm, no idea why, but it was great for us.

The room was great VFM (spotless) but the mattress and pillows were sooo uncomfortable. Maybe something for the NT/Bespoke Hotels to upgrade? We would have paid more for a better bed.

Lovely location and great for walking. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Large rooms which were lovely and warm. Lovely to be able to stay in a complete dog friendly hotel. Menu was a little limited due to supplies but Management reassured us this was being addressed and it would not stop me from staying here again. Would love to visit in Spring when the trees are coming into bloom.

Lack of choices on the menu, but this was being addressed for the future.

The location is so beautiful. It is tucked in a valley with beautiful walks and access to a lovely cove to swim in. If you are looking for a fantastic secluded countryside location then this is it. The gardens around the inn were well maintained, child and dog friendly. The bedrooms were spacious with storage and lovely en-suite bathrooms. The staff were lovely and very helpful.

The only thing was the mattress which was a bit hard. Maybe some mattress toppers would make the rooms more comfortable.

Location is great and, as you have asked, the cooked breakfast was a tad disappointing but buffet choice was extensive and as we are in our 60s we probably should forego the full English on health grounds but it has to be done when on a break! The staff were friendly happy bunch which is always a bonus!

As previously said the cooked breakfasts we had were a tad disappointing especially quality of the bacon and size of the eggs but this is probably down to me being used the proper greasy spoon industrial type fare!

this hotel is set in the most beautiful valley with views from our room as well as the restaurant. The room was lovely as was the bathroom and we ate the first night in the restaurant. The food was excellent if a little over priced. Staff could not have been more attentive and helpful. Highly recommend.

The charge for a dog was £15 per night which always seems a bit unfair as surely a one off charge after you leave would be fairer. we stayed for 3 nights so £45 did seem a bit steep for having a dog in our room.

This hotel is in a beautiful setting, giving you the opportunity to get away from it all. We were given a large, quiet and comfortable room. The furnishings were good quality and worked beautifully. The staff were all very attentive, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast and our evening meal were both cooked to perfection. We're already planning a return visit.

Internet was good but it was sometimes tricky to get a signal. However the hotel is down in a valley, so this is not surprising really.
