We LOVED EVERYTHING about this accommodation. Located inside the walls of the medieval town of Barga, Barga-Gallicano is easily accessible from Pisa by train and then a short taxi ride to Barga itself (not walkable). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was AMAZING and we definitely plan to return! Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owners Cathy and Walter, their hospitality was beyond our expectations along with the room that we stayed in for 2 nights. Personally, I don't feel there is a better place to stay in Barga.

This place took a little finding, so well hidden was it amongst the maze of lanes and alleys that make up the old part of Barga. However, once inside we found a delightful apartment, and a very welcoming host. Clean, tidy and comfortable, with a mini bar and fruit and nibbles all included at no extra cost. Our itinerary only allowed us a stay of one night here, but we could have stayed much longer. Anyone visiting while the fish and chips festival is taking part must make time to visit - it was a real treat.

It’s location, super quiet and great air conditioning and the little extras included with the stay including mini fridge beverages and fruit bowl. So thankful also for Cathy bringing my mobile into the local cafe when I’d forgotten it when leaving for morning bus for airport. Stopped me from having to run back up the hill and back!

Cathy and Walter are the perfect owners of more than a perfect hotel. What a fabulous place to stay so much so we felt sad to leave and continue our Italian road trip. The extra touches to the room were exceptional, and the decor and location within the Barga walls were outstanding. We wouldn't stay anywhere else now and have recommended it to all family too. They were just amazing hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Kathy's English was excellent. The stay was a hidden gem within a hidden gem. I'd highly recommend a visit, and I'd highly recommend you stay at the art boutique! Great value for money and the most comfortable bed and clean room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Breakfast as such isn't provided but there was a huge selection of fresh fruit,juices,water and drinks. Replenished daily Beautiful room,every comfort met and Cathy helpful with information and she, Walter and staff all charming and helpful. I would absolutely return and recommend.

The location is magical, feels like traveling back in time, the winding cobblestone alleys to surprise restaurants. One night is not enough, we will be back for a longer stay. The mini bar, snacks, fruit and other things were top notch and included.

We only stayed one night, we needed more time there.

Great location and a lovely welcome from the owner, Cathy. We were unable to reach the hotel for the first night of our stay due to train strikes and Cathy was very sensible and understanding of our situation. Room is very well equipped and very comfortable. A selection of drinks and snacks are provided in the room and are included in the price. Very Stylish place!

A comfy chair or two would have been nice (there is a sofa but it the weather was REALLY hot and it had a vinyl type covering and wasn't very comfortably with the high temperatures). I just lounged on the bed, this really isn't a reason not to book! A lounge area was set up in a communal area just before we left so this would fix this issue.

The location of the hotel was fabulous, they do not do breakfast but do have a full mini bar in your room, a fruit bowl, biscuits and coffee machine. There is also a kettle! The mini bar has nibbles, juice, water, milk and alcohol and is replaced each time your room is made up at no extra cost to yourself! We felt this was a fantastic touch.

It was perfect in every sense. I am Australian and used to modern, well-appointed accommodation when travelling in Asia. This did not disappoint, 5 star rating, with a wonderful host.
