Very central location within walking distance of everything you could need. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a nice feel about it. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom plentifully stocked as was the tea/coffee station. Another lovely touch was the little supplies pouch with toothbrushes etc just in case you’d forgotten anything. It was my husband’s birthday and they had put a banner up for him. The shower was powerful and there was lots of hot water. Breakfast was good.

Rooms are a little bit tired and in need of a spruce up. The windows whistle in the wind but it was quite a windy night. The curtains were nice and heavy so we didn’t really any draughts. The door rattled every time another guest closed theirs.

The service was fantastic. Not knowing much about Newcastle I initially thought I had booked a room in the Slieve Donard Hotel. My partner pointed out the error but was happy to go ahead as it was cwell within walking distance of the Slieve Donard hotel where our function was. I was however a little apprehensive. There was no need to be. The staff were fantastic, the place was clean the room was a great size, and the continental breakfast was more than adequate. .overall however I would have to say it was the friendliness of the staff that made this visit stand out.

There was nothing I could say that I didn't like. There is no parking at the hotel per saw, but we were able to get parkred close by without a bother.

Breakfast was continental . Fresh, plentiful and with excellent coffee. There were plenty of seating and tables comfortably arranged. One of the greatest assets of this property is one of their staff. Kevin ,who manned the front desk, assisted with directions, provided valuable local information concerning hikes,parks, and restaurants and was always available . He was able to manage that exceptional combination of professionalism and genuine friendliness. This establishment would not be the same without this gentleman.

This was just a convenient overnight stop as I was attending a function in town. All the staff we met were extremely efficient and helpful and nothing was any trouble. Was pleasantly surprised that all guests could have a continental style breakfast as this was not indicated in the original booking. It was basic but more than sufficient and was very welcome. This is an older hotel but very well presented. Our room was very well sized and we actually had a sea view. Bathroom was also well sized with a shower-in-bath. Altogether, a great stay.

Only minor criticism was lack of pillow size variation. All the pillows in the room were big so could not match my usual sleeping position. Some intermittent extraction fan noise from other room(s) was apparent through the night.

The room was lovely and cosy and we were given room 201 which had a beautiful view right up the Main Street. Great location, so handy to everywhere and free parking nearby. The beds were very comfortable. There was coffee, tea, biscuits and milk sachets all handy in the room. Kevin and his dad were so obliging, friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. We always like ice with our drinks in the room (which is what we sometimes miss with staying in a hotel), but Kevin was more than happy to give us some ice. Good selection of continental breakfast in the morning, but only thing we missed was a cooked breakfast.

Only thing missing in our opinion was a cooked breakfast - other than that we were more than happy with everything else and would stay here again and would recommend it :)

The staff were brilliant. Friendly and couldn't do enough for you, they made our stay so much more enjoyable. The location was great for us as we did not have a car and it's practically next to public transport. Clean and large room wi5h a great view of the beach. The hotel has been updated.

No parking, which was not a problem this time round as we didn't hire a car, but may prevent us booking in future if we did. Otherwise, I would totally recommend this place.

Although it’s an old hotel, you could tell the rooms have been updated and were very clean which for me is the main thing. Staff were very friendly and the complimentary continental breakfast was tasty and more than enough for a young family and plenty on offer with pastries, cereal, fruit and yoghurts. Value for money was very good and was a perfect for a night away for a family.

I couldn’t find any fault with hotel. Although it’s an old hotel and bathrooms are dated, they were extremely clean and shower was in good working order.

Central location, lovely rooms, clean and staff very helpful and went out of there way to make us feel welcome. Had 5 rooms booked for bank holiday get together with friends to walk up the mountain and our stay was great. Lovely continental breakfast to start the day, hotel bar for drink to end the day. Nothing too much trouble from arrival to check out 🙂

Would have liked cooked breakfast option but continental provided had plenty of good selection of food so was fine.

It was not as good as I expected , If they wish to do just a continental breakfast this is absolutely fine, however I would have expected a selection of cold meats & cheeses.

External signage was poor, particularly as we were arriving when it was dark . We were very close to the Donard and couldn't see any signage and only accident we saw the sign over the door entrance, which had no light on it . A light Neon sign would make all the difference .

The room was perfect for our needs (double & 2 singles in adjacent room), great location beside Slieve Donard. The staff were fantastic. Kevin in particular. Newcastle's one way system can be stressful when parking, but Kev was so friendly and helpful,, giving great parking instructions when I rang (twice). Also, I let my earphones in the room, and Kevin kindly posted them to my house. Outstanding customer care.
