We wanted accommodation with on site car parking and where we could walk to TSB Arena and Te Papa, both on the waterfront. Apollo Lodge is at the bottom of Margoribanks Street so you don’t have the hill to climb. There is a dairy opposite and about 4 restaurants on the way down to Courtney Place. It was very clean and has a small basic kitchen with fridge, microwave and toaster. It suited us fine and we’d recommend….. and we’d use it again

Not a problem for us but noisy neighbours could be as some units are double storey. We did hear people going up and down stairs as we were on ground floor but everyone very respectful while we were there.

Easy, convenient location short walk to great restaurants,city, waterfront etc. Short drive to Wellington Zoo, Te papa museum, Cable car can easily walk from location to location. Our room was clean&tidy upon arrival it incl kichenette & ensuite in bedroom which had all basic amneties which worked great for all 5 of us, 3 adults, 2 kids. Room service was attentive when required. Reasonably priced, Overall great stay. NOTE: This Motel offers Free guest parking! huge bonus for this location as it is very hard to find free parking in the area as you have to pay for parking in most locations especially the City.

Sofa-bed mattress was very thin you can feel springs and frame could have been a thicker foam however the overall usage of the couch was comfy, room decor could do with an upgrade. The room door upon entry could do with a latch on the outside to hold it open as it just swings hard to close it did have a manual door stop but most times opening the door was not for all easy to access.

For a start the location was excellent for us, due to arriving by car. It was easy to find and easy to park in the plentiful spaces. Our room was as advertised, right down to the room number on the photo! Very rare to see this (what you see is what you get). The room was a good size (we had the deluxe queen room), tele was good enough for one night (internet lag was terrible so didn't get to see a movie or stay logged in). The room was mostly clean (some places needed a better dust), the bed was very comfy. The layout of the room is great - open storage is very sensible - no need for drawers when travelling - just hangers and in view - which is what this room had. Comfy chairs (fabric would have been warmer than the faux leather). Well equipped kitchen for one night, clean bedding. Shower was good, bathroom a good size.

A small bugbear - not sure why toilet roll holders are put 'behind' the toilet - very hard to reach back and grab what you need - please put this in front to the left of the heated towel rail or on the right where the sink is - not everyone is agile enough for this position. Internet lag is bad - couldn't get a whole movie in - screen kept freezing and not doing anything. Gave up and played cards instead.

Room exceeded expectations. The rooms with high ceilings (#38) were light and airy and spacious. Late check in instructions were clear and easy to follow. Off-street parking was excellent and location ideal for exploring the city on foot. Recent upgrades apparent and appreciated. Quiet location even though CBD. Ability to use carparks across the two sites was added advantage.

Nothing problematic at al. Only thing we noticed is that the doors/windows are not airtight b/c are wooden, but not a problem or concern for us.

Close walking distance to eateries, bars, and a fish and chip store just down the street as is a nice cafe. 10 min walk to Te Papa Museum, 5 min walk to New World. The staff are super friendly. Good sized room and a good bathroom and kitchenette.

Parking is free but sometimes it's hard to find one outside your room (free parking across the road at their other site though which is great). In our room, we could hear the hot water going for other rooms which were quite loud, and the internet speed using apps on TV wasn't the greatest - but we coped. The WiFi in general on phones was great.

Excellent location, walk to Te Papa, lots of restaurants etc. Parking on site. Spacious rooms, well equipped, clean and comfortable. Very helpful and friendly arranging late check-in for us when we were delayed.

Car park was usually pretty full, and some guests parked very inconsiderately. Designated spaces & better markings would have helped. We had to carry bags up the hill to our room.

Location, friendly staff and relatively comfortable room & amenities

The parking system, first in first served wasn't particularly helpful as the parks outside our rooms were always taken by other vehicles, and as we arrived late each night, not being able to guarantee a park for our vehicle with instruments inside was a bit of a turn off - and also, it's not something that can be changed really but the driveway is so tight and with any large/long ute's parked it was very tricky to get around them!

Great location, cosy unit, really comfortable bed and friendly/helpful staff :-) We were given some milk when we arrived. It is an easy walk into town, with a great cafe nearby (not open on Mondays btw) and right by Courtney Place, The Embassy and buses. Dairy's within walking distance for anything you need, plus New World supermarket is minutes away.

There wasn't much to dislike - the only thing is that our tv in the unit was a bit of a pain. We had to turn on and off again to get it to work properly.

There was a lot to love about the Apollo Lodge. Very affordable. The location was great, so close to every choice of food and entertainment. And the parking was free! The room was warm, clean and spacious, the bathroom looked recently renovated. The beds were so comfortable, the best I've slept in for some time at a motel.

It would be great if they moved away from single use shampoo sachets and soaps. Old fashioned. Otherwise couldn't fault anything.

Ours was an older style motel unit (different kinds of accommodation are available), but that had the benefit that older ones frequently are more spacious than newer ones. The motel is in an exceptionally convenient location for access to down-town Wellington, with plenty of eateries, bars, excellent supermarket, waterfront, Mt Victoria park/lookout, etc., in close proximity. Leaving the car at the unit and walking in the area meant no parking hassles and associated expense.

A few aspects of our unit were a little 'tired', merely as a consequence of the age of the unit, but once you got over the initial first impression, that had no significant impact on our stay there.
