This place is an incredible hidden gem, located just high enough to give great views over the beautiful Whangaroa Harbour from the extensive deck and barbecue area. I just loved sitting for hours under a sun umbrella in the BBQ area surrounded by beautifully landscaped native garden, just sipping coffee and reading and looking over the water. Absolute bliss. The room's interior was a solid no-frills set-up perfect for a self-catering holiday - comfortable, with everything you'd need to cook meals etc. There were so many beautiful beaches nearby and also the town of Mangonui was very cute. Lots of reminders of Maori and colonial history all around which made it such a fascinating place.

The parking was a bit of a squeak, but that probably says more about my lack of backing skills. No washing machine. I can appreciate it's not possible in a place reliant on rainwater tanks. Anyway it's not like we're much better off back home in Wellington, seeing as how the city has water restrictions over summer thanks to losing almost half our water supply due to leaking pipes.

The property is amazing and is very quiet and relaxing. The owners were very accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a good one. So thank you so much for!

We didn’t not like anything about the property. I would say though if you were planning on staying a while at the property I would recommend hiring a car because there is no shops near by.

A stunning location overlooking Whangaroa Harbour. Friendly helpful hosts. Great beaches, fishing and walks close by. Highly recommended, would love to come stay again in this slice of NZ paradise. Personally I preferred staying here over the larger more touristy towns like Paihia, much more relaxed. Lisa and her partner also run a Charter fishing operation (Nautilus), we went out on a half day on the boat and the kids(and us older kids) had a blast. Our Skipper Sam was awesome with the young ones and super keen. One thing to note... the nearest large supermarket is in Kerikeri(30 min drive away), not a bad thing but if you're heading north it pays to stop in here for supplies on the way, we were a bit understocked and had to back track.

Lovely vista, quiet and clean. Manager was responsive and friendly. Nice common outdoor area with BBQ.

Apartment could have some improvements, like bedside lamps, better cooking utensils and a proper couch in the living room, as our unit only had beds. A bit dated and expected a bit more for the price paid.

Loved the setting, the double aspect view of the bay from our room, the kitchen facilities and use of outdoor seating. Also great selection of DVDs available for guest use. Once a fellow guest had shown us how to use the TV/DVD (these things a permanent mystery to us) we were away and enjoyed a different film every night. Also great local fish suppers available at the Big fish club and bar down on the waterfront (not sure of its precise name but you can't miss it - it's where all the fishing guys hang out) - literally the best and freshest fish we have ever had.

The thing we weren't too enthusiastic about was the lighting in the unit. Some subtler, softer lighting - less strip-like and overhead - would have been welcome, and some bedside lights in particular for reading by.

The accommodation was updated, modern and clean with the lovely staff who made our late check-in easy and hassle free. The views of the Whangaroa Bay was amazing.

The road and driveway aren't suitable for lowered cars, larger vehicles or vans if you struggle with parking a larger vehicle on sloped small spaces.

Location and view from the balcony and room was just incredible. Such a lovely slice of paradise. Although host Lisa was not available at reception as was doing a room change over, it was very easy to call her and she explained where room, key and wifi was located.

Shower pressure was very poor but if that's all I have to say negative then all in all a lovely spot and would stay again.

Lovely view, exceptionally clean & a modern vibe. Well equipped.

No aircon, people are too loud. Poor internet service & tv didn’t work (? Satellite was down?). Shower had no where to put anything ??? No bedroom small lights, you had to get up to turn the light off.

Great place , beautiful views of the harbour . Very clean and comfortable apartment. Perfect to rest if you are on a big trip across the country . Wonderful chowder in a fishing club in Whangaroa where they have bar and restaurant.

Windows from the front of the apartment meaning everyone passes by your room to get to theirs .

Very clean and tidy, w good facilities, and all facilities in good working order, inclg BBQ, and video. Beautiful outlook over the water from our corner room. Choice of upstairs or down, for an 85 y old w a recent knee replacement. Happy plants and dogs. Very pleasant manager, Lisa, though I only met her for a short time. Shower easily accessible re small step up over the shower wall, shower handle at waist level and a grip on the wall to help get out of the shower, for older and short people. Insect screens available on some windows for potential insects. Tea pots on outside tables are quirky. Nice, pleasant colour scheme of our unit, and fabrics.

Maybe the cuboards could be opened up between guests, to air them. They weren',t unpleasant or mouldy or any such thing, just a little closed up. We were looking forward to using an oven for several food items, but were out of luck.
