Lovely surroundings and wonderful gardens. The main hotel is lovely, with real fires and great interior decor, fitting for the age of the building. The quintessential country hotel. The annex was comfortable and modern but with furnishings that linked the two buildings together.
The driveway was a little worrying as the signposting up a long and winding road was not clear enough. It was a very long driveway, but once used it was great to use. The smooth jazz played in the communal areas was on a loop and this became a little wearisome.and a bit like Groundhog Day.

Beautiful country house in a very convenient location for north Bristol. My room was spacious, warm and opulently decorated. I loved the furniture, the powerful shower and the extremely comfortable bed. Lovely views across the grounds. Smart public areas.
My coffee at breakfast was extremely weak and very poor quality - served from a pump pot. Also the toast tasted like cardboard. The staff serving breakfast seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than in showing me the breakfast buffet. These very disappointing breakfast items let down an otherwise excellent stay.

I was travelling for work on a last minute trip. The hotel was a couple of miles from where I needed to be the following morning and that the only factor I really looked at before booking... however, it has to be noted that this hotel was a breath of fresh air following a long week away. The food at dinner, and also the breakfast the following morning was fabulous and the service excellent also. The dining area was very quiet with it being a weekday evening but I would imagine for a lunch, or weekend dinner it would be excellent. Ideal for a date night/weekend away.

We had an amazing breakfast with everything we could possibly want and exceptional service. I was completely charmed by the individual vegemite;) We stayed in Galatia on the second floor which was perfect and cozy with a luxurious private bath. The beautiful hotel and grounds, including landscape paintings by a local artist, set a relaxing tone for the start of our holiday. We were quite busy sightseeing so I wish we'd had the opportunity to spend more time on the property. Would highly recommend Berwick Lodge!

Hotel and grounds were beautiful, room and bathroom amazing. The Nice fresh coffee in room instead of instant was a lovely touch. Staff friendly and professional.
Whilst adding to the ambiance of the hotel we Could have done without the live jazz pianist being situated right outside the bedroom door, was unable to just relax and rest up from our journey before dinner. Piped jazz music during dinner and breakfast was way too loud, had to ask the waiter to turn it down so we could hold a conversation. Scallop starter was just two very small chewy scallops, with a leaf of overcooked slimy spinach, not worth the £15 nor as pictured on website menu. Was very disappointing after looking forward to trying the dish. No butter provided with the bread rolls purchased. However, The fish and chips were decent and a good sized portion. Bed and pillows were a little hard for my preference.

Beautiful looking hotel amidst gorgeous grounds, gardens and views where we had a warm welcome. We ate in the restaurant, which we would highly recommend as the food was delicious and waiting staff friendly and accomodating. We loved the freshly cut flowers adorning every surface which are grown on the premises. Unexpectedly large bathroom.
Our room Caspian, (Mews building) although very pretty in its French theme, was tiny with very large furniture with us having to either dip our head on the eves or squeeze past the bed and wardrobe. The room was flooded with sunlight, extremely early as there are no adequate blinds only slats and sheer voiles. Possibly replacing the slats with blackout rollerblinds would make a huge difference. The Lodge is truly beautiful but little details let it down with very dusty bedcovers which we threw off straight away and undusted dining chairs. We really enjoyed our evening meal, although the dining room is lit up so brightly with no ambience at all.

We were in the Troya room and it was amazing- the space, the furniture, the bathroom, the views. House Martins nesting in the eaves, the grounds with the orchard, pond, wild flowers and fountains- it was the most relaxing and peaceful stay. Best place we've stayed, we'll be back for sure.
The food wasn't as amazing as the rest of the stay- it was nice, just a bit bland and expensive. Having said that, the honey bread they baked fresh was a high point; delicious. We will 100% stay again and perhaps just skip dinner!

Pretty, quirky hotel in a nice location. Good restaurant. Friendly staff. Lovely grounds - would make a nice wedding venue. We stayed in a room at the top of the house, which was well sized and clean.
While the room is lovely to look at, it has some practical challenges - the bed is too big for the space - you have to edge around it to get in or out. If you get up in the night, this room is not the most user-friendly, and there's a good chance you will bump into the room beams or ceiling overhang.

Quirky room, very original furniture, enormous comfortable bed, beautiful leaded windows. Friendly helpful staff ; very kind and patient Lounge and snug impeccably furnished; clearly done with love and great taste. Gorgeous gardens with views all the way to Wales. Great food in a festive atmosphere.
Very minor point, but the jazz music playing in the hotel lounge and restaurant was a bit too loud to our taste. A more mellow playlist would suit the mood of this fantastic hotel better;-))

It was such a stunning secluded spot. Weather was glorious the day we arrived so we spent time in the grounds. Food was lovely and staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful.
Our room was in the mews next to the car park which was gravelled. As I was trying to fall asleep about 10:30… I could hear all the loud footsteps in the gravel for the next hour which then kept me awake. Our room was a lot more dated than I thought would be. Plaster cracking and big gap in the door on the side and bottom. I felt we paid a huge amount for the room and it was a let down. The bed freaked loudly with every movement also. We did feel a bit away from it being in the block away from the main building.
