Great location, very comfortable, lovely rooms and I particularly liked the little balcony which looked out on to the ocean. That breakfast was included was great.

Very un-eco friendly. At breakfast everything was disposable, from the plates to the cutlery, to the cups. I imagine this saves time, but the wastage with the number of tourists coming through must be huge.

It was very pretty and quirky with a great location. Lovely pool and relaxation area.

Check-in was an absolute shambles. We had to wait over 1 1/2 hours for our room and then they put us in a room that we didn’t book and pay for, they finally found us the room that we paid for. The fan in the room wasn’t working and neither was one of the lightbulbs. The room was very pretty, but got incredibly hot when the Sun was out. The breakfast was dreadful, it was full of carbs and cake and literally no protein in sight. There also wasn’t much food left if you left it till after 9 o’clock to get your breakfast.

This is the best value in Santa Barbara, if you can pay $100-200 to be right on the beach and walkable distance to everything! Either at A La Mar or Villa Rosa Inn, they are right next to each other. It’s European style, family friendly, great pool, fun and old world decor. A unique and charming experience, not a standard brand name hotel. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Late checkout. Free breakfast in the morning. Fireplace in the lobby. Very homey. Overall a delight.

I wish the sheets were all white instead of tropical patterns - but it’s kind of on brand. The rooms could use a tiny bit of refreshing but overall they are clean and comfortable.

What a beautiful Inn! It was warm, inviting, and central to downtown Santa Barbara as well as only a block from the beach and pier! The room was spectacular, and the balcony overlooked the pool. It will be my go-to for Santa Barbara! I didn't drive at all during my entire stay because everything was within walking distance.

There is no elevator and the steps are very steep. I tripped up the stairs one morning when coming back up to my room after getting coffee and tripped on my long dress. Ouch! There's no coffee in the room, so I had to go to the lobby every morning to get it. It had a small refrigerator and microwave, so it would not have been difficult to include a small coffeemaker.

This is a lovely hotel with European ambiance. Most rooms have wrought iron Juliette balconies, there are wrought iron handrails, even a wrought iron sign with wrought iron roses. The lobby has plush carpets, eclectic furnishings and art as well as board games and wine and cheese offerings at around 5. The courtyard pool is welcomingly warm and surrounded by sculptures. The courtyard also is equipped with ay jacuzzi and koi pond with a koi fountain. The rooms are furnished with a melange of antiques and other furniture. Our room had a king and twin bed as well as a chaise lounge. There was a table and chairs in the eating nook adjacent to what was advertised to be a kitchen and it almost was. There was a fair size refrigerator freezer, a large trash can upper and lower kitchen cabinet with a sink. Inside the drawers was a set of flatware for three, but not a single spoon be it table or tea. There were 3 of 4 mismatched cups and platic glasses, but nothing to heat food with. Although there was sppace for a range, it was empty, and there was no stive, no oven, no microwave. This was disappointing, as knowing there was a kitchen, we'd brought things to make a pastry wrapped brie. The bathroom was good size and hot water lasted. There was also a dressing area, two balconies and a very large tv that didn't get any local channels, and there was no sound when we tried to get onto our Netflix and prime accounts. There was plenty of sound on the QVC and paid commercial channels that were available. Perhaps it was just the three of us, though no one at the front knew either. The staff was as helpful as they could be otherwise.

The television would have been nicer if it had familiar channels, like the networks, even HBO or Showtime, or if we could hear Prime or Netflix, it was frustrating to have a large tv with a good picture and to only have access to channels that sell timeslits for infomercial. And it would be nice to be able to heat food in what was advertised to be a kitchen

Love the fun ambiance. Our room opened to the pool area which was really nice. Great location close to pier and restaurants. Free breakfast and happy hour.

In our friends' room the foot of the bed had collapsed and it was too heavy for the guy at the desk to fix and there were no free rooms to relocate them to. That was unfortunate. Our friends are super easygoing and enjoyed everything else about the hotel but it would have been better to somehow even out the bed. Kind of surprised that the staff didn't notice it when getting the room ready.

The location and proximity to State Street and West Beach was GREAT! The decor was very eclectic -not for everyone, but we liked it. The property has a fascinating history which makes it even better.

Parking lot was tiny so we had to park on the street most of the time (unless we got lucky). There's no air conditioning. I'm sure this isn't a problem most of the year, but we were there in July-so it was a little uncomfortable. We slept with the back door open to the courtyard for fresh air. Everything was clean in the room, but the old building lacked enough electrical outlets to accommodate all our phones and other electronics. The rest of the property had areas of cobwebs and dust. It adds to the character I suppose.
