Location was brilliant for sightseeing around the area and the accommodation was lovely and in a very quiet place. Extremely friendly host who was willing to accommodate a delicious breakfast and time requests to suit. Lovely single room with comfy bed with shared bathroom. All in all, great place to stay!
Unlockable bedroom door, although there was a wedge to use, I found this quite disconcerting being a lone female traveller and this is the only reason not to give a 10/10.

The owners are most aristocrat I've ever met. We an interesting house full of interesting curiosities. A hot bath and a good bed with a fantastic breakfast, the host is nice enough as well. And remember the land isn't what it once was.
A simple television would have gone a long way.

The gentleman host was a delightful man. His wife (whom we never met) makes award winning marmalade and berry jams offered at breakfast. The old school house was filled with period furnishings and gold framed portraits of descendants and so much more it was amazing to see. A delicious English breakfast was cooked to perfection. We stayed in the spacious family room with all the comforts as well as separate private ensuite. The house was situation in an easy to find location a short drive away from Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
Nothing springs to mind. We enjoyed the comfortable and safe atmosphere.

The Old School House is a lovely, quaint, and quirky place. Spotlessly clean, our hosts Gregory and Sarah-Jane made us feel at home straight away. My son and I had the family room, which was perfect for our needs. Set in a rural location, you would need a car, but it was a lovely, peaceful setting with beautiful views from the bedroom window. The breakfast room was lined with books, and the delicious full English breakfast set us up for the day. We loved staying here and would definitely stay here again.

A very unusual place to stay, with many historic pictures, artifacts and the library doubled as the breakfast room. Breakfast was tasty, plenty of options and ready for me on the dot. The host was pleasant, helpful and interesting to talk with. The single room had plenty of space for baggage, a good TV, and hanging space for clothes. There was a kettle for making tea and coffee, plus a sink in the corner for water. Lovely view over the surrounding farm land from the room. Parking space off road by the side of the house. The house is close enough to Berwick upon Tweed for some sightseeing and for going out for a meal. The house was warm and comfortable, which is particularly good in February.
No lock on the bedroom door, but this is unlikely to be an issue, as the stay is in a family home and there is only one other room for guests. The shared bathroom seems to be one of the family bathrooms, but it was no issue with usage, and there is a separate toilet close to the bedroom.

We didn't receive the host's instructions as to how to get there and our Sat Nav directed us through farms and dirt roads, and to the wrong house, but once we arrived all was well. We had the upper floor to ourselves, so although the toilet was out of our room, it was easily accessible. The breakfast was excellent. The host was very kind to our grandchildren. This was a very good location for seeing Bamburgh Castle and Holy Isle.

The Old School House is a lovely, cosy place to get some rest. Despite being rural, it's a short walk from the bus stop at the border. For the money I didn't feel like I missed out on anything. The cooked breakfast was great and very filling. The host was attentive and made sure I had everything I needed.
All the doors upstairs looked the same. I was afraid of opening the wrong door by mistake, since most of the doors don't have locks.

Breakfast Ok [average]. Bed in TV room [single] was the best, The host and his wife were very helpful. Tak to Berwick twice on a two day visit. Garden was very quiet and pleasant. A very quiet area so no traffic noise at night. Superb notes provided on local bus times in both directions [very important to know when travelling solo without a car
Could not open window on a warm night. Dining room [library] was freezing in May for breakfasts. No TV brochure [all remotes differ in controls]

The property is nearly 200 years old and has a lot of character. We were served breakfast in the library which was very impressive. The host, Gregory, is a very interesting, very pleasant, gentleman. Room was fine, beds were comfortable. Our breakfast was good, all the usual cooked suspects. Overall, perfectly adequate as we were just passing through.
Our room was not en-suite, the property could benefit from some modernisation, particularly in this area, and maybe a refresh of the bedroom furniture, but ideally not at the expense of the building as a whole. And the bathroom net curtains could use a wash.. Note also that advance payment is taken for booking here if booked through Booking.com
