Great service. Friendly staff. Easy check-in process. The only downside was that the power had been cut ( through no fault of Ithonsi) which meant that hot water wasn't available for my one-night stay. However, they had been in contact with local municipality to have the issue resolved.

The property manager is duch a nice guy. We arrived late after we landed at the airport and there was no electricity in the property. He run a generator for us so we could have a shower etc before going to bed. And again in the morning before we left. Very appreciated it.

The initial view of the broken keypad for entrance (though I think this was being fixed. The bags of leaves etc at the base of the palm in the garden. The overall appearance was spoiled by the back area used to park cars by airport parking (about 80 at one point), this made it look like a car park rather than a Guest house

I liked my room. I booked the Superior room which had an ensuite and a big window to view the garden outside. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. There was an evaporator cooler which I used now and then ti freshen the air. The shower was good and everything was very clean. The property hist/ caretaker was so polite and caring. The breakfast was delicious and the coffee perfect. Only 4klms from the airport. Bekhi will organise an Uber to take you back to the airport. I would stay again as it is very homely. Snacks, wine, coffee and juice were available from the fridge!

The caretaker Bheki was great and readily available. I had a long 6 hour daytime layover at JNB and decided to stay at the lodge. I communicated this over email. They made sure my room was ready as I arrived. I enjoyed that it was less than 10 minutes from the airport and close to order food on Uber Eats. The room and ensuite toilet was comfortable and very clean, as were the common areas.

Unfortunately they had power issues at the time (no charging and no hot water) but Bheki the caretaker said he can turn on the generator whenever I wanted, which I appreciated.

Great guy, Mr Bheki. Calm, chill place. I do recommend it for staying the day/night before you flight. Or even your stay in Joanes, as ubers tend to be cheap anyway. The neighborhood seemed chill compared to the place i stayed before more to the center, but can be only a impression - Joanes doesnt seem like a safe city at all. Nice and clean room. Good amenitties. Nice bed. Just missing a heater, as it can get cold in the night. The blanket/sheet are good stuff tho.

There's nothing indicating the name of the place. Its easy to find in the day because its a big red wall, but at night, i guess some people may take a while to find. Also, in low season, there was no food and not much to drink (frigobar stuff). Its easy to order from Uber eats or other local app tho. Set up a bar with beers and wines and just store it for selling, Mr Bheki!

I rang the bell for so long without anyone answering then I had to make a phone call so that they can open for us. that's a no ,no. Again, after arrival we have been told to wait in the car and they will call us. I believe the room must be prepared before the check in and the bed was not comfy .

Perfect place to stay near OR Tambo Airport! Bheki was a fantastic host—very welcoming and helpful—and our room was very clean and comfortable. Our room had a mini fridge (with reasonably priced drinks) and kettle and the kitchen was well-equipped for cooking. The room even had robes for us, which was a fancy touch for such a reasonably priced accommodation. The WiFi worked well. The guest house also has a nice grassy outdoor area with a picnic table. You can purchase meals on-site or UberEats delivers. The guest house felt very safe and secure. We took a prepaid taxi from the airport because the airport WiFi wasn’t working to order an Uber/Bolt and it was 200 Rand, but going back to the airport we got a Bolt and it was only 42 Rand. Getting to and from was quick and easy. Highly recommended if you want to stay close to the airport!

If you are looking for a place to stay close to the airport, that's the right place. It's not luxurious, very simple, but comfortable.

Close to the airport, even if I arrived late, someone waited for me to welcome me and show me around. Was there only for a layover, and it was exactly what i needed

Not the fault of the hostel per say, but the neighborhood can be quite scary at night during power shortage. It's off the road, so I'd definitly recommend to carefully select your taxi / uber at the airport as the road to the hostel is completely desert
