Lovely hotel, well set out and beautifully decorated. Room was really nice with amazingly comfortable bed. Special mention to the staff - every one was very friendly and exceptionally helpful.

Disappointed with the food, £24 for 2 lamb cutlets at dinner seemed expensive to us. Added the chicken to the curry for an additional £4 and there were 4 cubes of chicken hidden underneath the curry. Breakfast was a let down. The continental selection is good, however the cooked breakfast felt as though it had been deep fried. Bacon was pretty much inedible, sausage was pink on the inside and potato scone was rock hard and swimming in fat.

Breakfast was brilliant, the hotel was nice and quiet. The bar was perfect with lots of choice. The staff are the real asset, everyone was warm and friendly

A small point is cleanliness. The bed was perfect, crisp white sheets and lovely decor. Facilities in the room were brilliant. Not enough to ever leave a poor review like some choose to, but the dirt around the window frames, grout in the bathroom, and the dust in the radiators could be easily rectified to make it outstanding

The second time we have stayed here and first time over Christmas. The staff are it's greatest asset, very friendly and professional. The food is good and great range of drinks at the bar. Breakfast is outstanding.

The room has had a redecoration, but the bathroom could do with a revamp as it's looking abit tired (the door in room 11 keeps opening on it's own), coat hooks and hangers in the room would be a welcome addition for those who travel from further from home.

Bedroom was clearly newly refurbished. There was a good walk-in shower (I prefer this to an over bath shower).. Bed was very comfy. Hotel seemed very popular with locals. Plenty of parking. Garden. Its a good location to break a journey a few miles from the motorway.

Signage to bedrooms was confusing. I would have liked a shelf for toiletries inside the shower cubicle (there was nowhere to put shampoo etc), and I feel more secure with a grab rail to hang on to. But these things could easily be sorted. I would stay again.

Excellent breakfast. Comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Strathaven is a pleasant town to visit.

Booking.com quoted a price of £202 for two nights. There was an inexplicable £20 added for cleaning that wasn’t shown on the original quote (added before our stay so not down to anything we have done). I’ve never seen a separate cleaning charge added to a bill before. Why didn’t booking.com quote the actual price?

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the setting of the hotel is wonderful especially on a lovely sunny day. The food at the wedding and the breakfast in the morning was excellent.

Some of the finishes are a bit tired and dirty, one of the corridors leading to our bedroom had a strong smell of stale cigarettes coming off the carpet and curtains. The landing carpet was very dirty. Bedroom - carpet hadn’t been hovered or the floor in the bathroom cleaned. The black mould on the grouting should have been cleaned off, hook on the back of the toilet door hanging off. Curtains - hanging down at one end and window very stiff. TV remote was dirty All of the items with the exception of the carpets, highlighted should be easy to fix with some routine maintenance and a better cleaning regime.

First and foremost, the staff were very friendly and really lovely - very welcoming of my dog too which was much appreciated. it’s a lovely old building with a beautiful garden which my dog loved exploring. The bar area is gorgeous and the food was AMAZING!

I’d booked a single room which was very tired and dated, albeit not bad value considering what I’d paid. However, the hotel had a shortage of single bed linen so I got transferred to a much nicer king room! The room was great but very hot! This isn’t a complaint as I was thankful of the free upgrade and it was in the middle of a June heatwave… perhaps the hotel could consider supplying fans for the rooms when the weather is so hot!

We received a very warm welcome on arrival. The room was lovely and met all our needs. An issue with the ferry the following day had caused me angst & a query for a 2nd night if required. My query was met with a very positive response. Nothing was too much trouble. Everyone was friendly, service brilliant, food delicious: I particularly liked my breakfast of waffles, bacon & maple syrup. Would & do highly recommend

For us, nothing could have been improved on with the hotel, personnel & service. Correct postcode would have been usefu.

The staff was so friendly and helpful as I was lost to arrive to the hotel as I got a bit confused, I contacted them by phone and they were so patient and friendly to help me find it. I got to the reception and I was so well welcomed.

It’s not that I didnt like but maybe in the breakfast I was expecting more options maybe some fruits would be nice. But from what we ordered, everything was delicious. And if they can add toothpaste to the toilet, I asked in the reception and they were so kind to find me some, the effort was 5 stars!
