A gorgeous, historic hotel in an exceptional, central location in the most attractive part of Stellenbosch. Most helpful owner and hotel staff so friendly and efficient. Despite being historic, the hotel has every mod con discreetly installed, the room and bathroom spacious and immaculate. Lots of extras - rusks, chocolates and sherry and a cooked breakfast! Safe, free parking.

Being in the centre of a university town, it is a little noisy at night but it is possible to close the (double glazed) windows to shut out the noise and there is an air conditioner.

Ilse is a wonderful hostess, she assisted us greatly by accommodating a date change for our booking. The rooms are very large and comfortable. Breakfast was good, made to order and fresh. De Hoek Manor is within walking distance of many great restaurants and galleries etc. We really enjoyed our stay and loved visiting Stellenbosch.

The things that I did not like are out of control of the owners, for example the church bells that toll every hour and half hour, only if you are a light sleeper it may worry you. When we arrived we were not informed of loadshedding times so this caused some minor inconvenience on the first day, however once I downloaded the schedule on the ESP app it was fine, they do have backup power for wifi.

It is a beautiful hotel, inside and outside. Our room was spacious, with beamed ceilings and beautiful wooden floors. Comfortable beds and we slept well. Despite the central location, the street is quiet. Next door to the hotel Stellenbosch best restaurant De Eetkamer, that was a jackpot! Bonus - safe parking included and across the street.

Dusty under the bed. Which brought down the whole of the beautiful room. Which we didn't discover until the same day as check out. Otherwise we would have notified the hotel. We still enjoyed ourselves despite the dust.

What a magical pocket of Stellebosch. Behind the door of Hook Manor, we felt like we were in a little oasis of comfort and frendliness. Ilse and her wonderful colleagues took exceptional care of us. The room is spacious and comfortable, the breakfast is exceptional, the location in Stellenbosch is close to restaurants and bars, and the parking makes it ideal for visiting vineyards. It is clear that the owner and the staff have taken special cate to showcase the historical uniqueness of this beautiful property. We certainly will be back to these great hosts.

A warm friendly welcome by owners and staff. Although told it was just a 'small complimentary breakfast', it was delicious and filling. Spacious rooms with large bathroom and in a great location for the town, I'm very glad we chose De Hoek!

Only slight problem was finding someone to open the door on arrival. All sorted in 5-10 mins after a quick phone call.

The location is exactly where we wanted to be in the heart of the town, there was also parking which is a bonus especially in that part of town. The room was spacious, clean and provided us with everything we needed. Overall a great place to stay and would definitely go back.

The load shedding is an issue, no lights in the bathroom during load shedding and in mid summer you need a rechargeable fan or an Aircon.

The perfect stay for Stellenbosch located a short distance from restaurants and entertainment. We will definitely return. The beautiful view of the church and church bells is an added bonus. Booking was easy and we received communication to make check-in smooth Highly recommended.

Excelsior is a beautiful traditional house sitting at the heart of a lovely wine estate. The level of service from the Excelsior team is exceptional. Kirsten and Michelle are so helpful and James is just brilliant. Breakfast by the pool is a perfect start to the day and we enjoyed great dinners each evening.

Nothing.

A beautiful place to stay across from a stunning church. The staff were all very friendly and there were plenty of restaurants around.

The church across the road chimes on the hour. This didn't bother my partner but I'm a light sleeper. This wouldn't put me off returning though as the property was lovely.

Central and walking distance from shops and restaurants, parking on site, friendly staff and lovely breakfast.

Would have liked more coffee sticks in the room as my husband drinks at least 2 cups before breakfast.
