Beautiful location. Excellent, friendly helpful staff

The Hôtel didn’t appear to be terribly full but we were allocated a room on the ground floor which was on a corner with little natural light and no view, except some decking. We had stayed there on other occasions in 1st floor rooms which were excellent and our friends also had a spacious room on the 2nd floor with light and views.

This was a delightful hotel in a unique location inside the citadelle. The hotel restaurant where we had dinner in the evening looked out over the river so we enjoyed the lovely sunset but not the biting insects which arrived to hassle us soon afterwards! Having said that, the food was very good and the staff were excellent and went to great lengths to make sure that we enjoyed ourselves, smiling all the time!

Lovely location in the midst of the citadelle over looking the river. The pool was clean, a good size and apparently open all the time. Food was good and well presented although not a great deal of difference in the dishes on offer over the 3 main meals we had in the restaurant, but I imagine that it was because of the need to cut overheads following Covid and the increase in heating costs. The staff were very helpful with one of our party with mobility problems

I thought the window was shut in the evening, but I had unfortunately left if open and the mosquitoes had a field day as a result!

Lovely restaurant location, with outdoor seating and amazing view over the estuary. Very comfortable, spacious rooms. Great for access to the historic citadel! Lovely pool.

Restaurant a little on the expensive side, compared to similar hotel provisions.

An exceptional location and the hotel was beautifully situated in the heart of it. Plenty of parking, the setting and pool were incredible and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We ate at the restaurant which was lovely.

Rooms could have had tea/coffee facilities but there was bottled water on arrival.

Absolutely fantastic location right in the middle of the citadel. Views from the restaurant were stunning. Food in the restaurant a little over-ambitious but good, though very expensive.

The food in the restaurant was excellent. The location supurb. The building is historical and charming. Amazing experienxe. Would have liked to stay longer. I will return.

We were given probably the worst room in the hotel.. But we were staying only a night and arrived very late. In any case, it was comfortable, clean and modern.

Hotel staff helpful and I was quickly able to get the car in past the pietons, etc. I had a walk along the areas at the back of hotel and realised I was somewhere special, overlooking the estuary. What history must have happened there in all the years since the Citadel was built.

Not much to dislike about it.
