What wasn't there to like?! I enjoyed my stay, and even after an incident on the A1, they were happy for me and my partner to stay an extra night whilst we recovered from our collision with a lorry before we could then travel homeward. The staff were so friendly and lovely to us, offered to drive us for food and offered us some dinner. The breakfast was lovely on all 3 days, and the stay in the hotel was impeccable. I couldn't fault anything or anyone at this little B&B.

There wasn't anything I didn't like!

Lovely Old House with plenty of character and a friendly welcome on arrival. We were staying as we had to arrive early at our son’s house 15 minutes away the following morning, so the location for us was perfect. We had read reviews about Noisy traffic, (it is literally just off A1) but we didn’t experience this maybe a low level hum if you listened for it. Comfortable bed in a very large room No1 with plenty of free space even with a 2 seater and a 3 seater settee nice big TV plenty of channels. Free WiFi. There is also a fridge in the room which was good for us, it contained a few items red & white wine, Beer and soft drinks with a price list on the door if used. A full English Breakfast was made fresh in the morning when we came down and was lovely. Such good value for money. Would use again.

We didn’t find anything we didn’t like.

Great value for money and a nice cooked breakfast, not sure why I haven't used this hotel when staying nearby before?! Although turning in off the A1 was a little bit scary during rush-hour, it can't be argued the location isn't convenient, being literally ON the A1 itself.

Rooms and decor was a little bit in need of modernisation but really can't complain for the price, room was big and comfortable. I like to sleep in a cold room so wasn't bothered by the fact each room was only heated by a small portable electric heater, but it might be an issue for those who like it warm. Noise from the road was quite high through the night, but again, I'm used to living near roads so it didn't bother me, might bother light sleepers used to quiet countryside perhaps?

Large spacious double room and bathroom in a lovely old house. I was working at Burghley for the weekend and left before breakfast so can't comment on that, but the hosts were delightful. It's not a modern hotel so don't expect all the mod cons, but has everything anyone should need. The 'mini bar' is actually full size bottles of wine, beer and soft drinks! My dog was also allowed. I liked it for my 4 night stay and would certainly stay there again.

Being on the A1, the traffic can be heard. Certainly from a front room like mine. But, it's not overly loud and becomes background noise very quickly. I did not find it an issue at all (and it wouldn't put me off returning), but some people may so thought I ought to mention it.

Great find! This is a great and comfortable bed and breakfast, not a 5 star hotel, run in their own home. Good size room, king size bed, chest of drawers, chair, dressing table, wardrobe, bedside drawers, mini fridge, good size tv and large en-suite bathroom. Decent size tv has freeview and various streaming apps, mini fridge has water, Diet Pepsi, larger and wine. Towels and bedding are not new but clean and functional. Yes there is noise from the A1 because you are right next to it. There is double glazing but some noise does get through in the background and does almost stop through the night. Breakfast was not too big or small, 3 x thick/normal bacon, nice sausage, egg, mushrooms, beans, tomato, toast and coffee. There is a buffet with cereal, fresh fruit, fruit juice, fruit salad with fresh strawberries and jams. The people who run the place are very friendly and welcoming. They are knowledgeable about the history of this 17c coaching house. Even Queen Victoria stopped here on her travels to and from Scotland, in room No.1 Lots of off road parking towards the back of the property. Plenty of local hostelries in the surrounding area to eat at and places to visit. Yes we would stay here again.

Breakfast was superb. Full English cooked to order with a smorgasbord of continental items on a buffet. Room 1 was large and comfortable with a pair of leather sofas and large screen TV. Wi-Fi was excellent. A fridge was in the wardrobe which was handy. Our dog was made very welcome. Hosts were very friendly.

Nothing. At £60 for the night including two exceptional breakfasts what can we complain about.

The lodge is a magnificent building full of character and original features. The hostess is utterly charming and breakfast was excellent. The toast was served hot! The room was large and bed very comfortable. Well worth a visit .

As I was leaving early for work the next day I asked if I could have a light breakfast to take with me The proprietor said he would ask his partner if it could be arranged. I didn’t receive anything the next day which was disappointing. A bit of communication would have been able to solve this as they could have told me if it was possible or not.

A little bit more information for guests would be of great help I.e some information about the accommodation and it’s facilities other than just what other nearby facilities.

Very homely. Quirky, but we like that. Mini bar in room. Large en-suite. Comfortable bed. Host very, very welcoming and friendly. Exceptional value accommodation and breakfast.

Is very close to A1. Just take ear plugs.

A fine old country house, very welcoming hosts, lovely generous breakfast. Very spacious and comfortable room. Shower worked, if a little underpowered! (Some sachets of shower gel or similar would be appreciated) . Amazing location right on the A1. Folks with good hearing (therefore not me) might find traffic noise an issue but I slept soundly. Outstanding value.

For the forgetful traveller, some shower gel sachets would be excellent.
