We stayed in the cottage which is a delightfully quiet room in the garden. A four poster bed en suite with tea and coffee making facilities. Fresh pastries are provided for breakfast in the main house where the various residents exchange their stories. The hotel is a short walk from Bellvue which provides a little eatery called 'Picnic' and the various golden age mansions. we can also recommend Annie's and Mozz. The Harbour is a short walk away and provides many exceptional restaurants including the Mooring, 22b, and many more. The owner is a wonderful friendly and helpful young man and we cannot recommend this place highly enough.

There is nothing to dislike.

Great location on a relatively quiet road, but short stroll to the centre. Restaurants close by. Cliff walk start about 15 mins walk. Free trolly bus picks up all along the route of the mansions and at the end of the cliff walk. Stops at the bottom of the road. Room was lovely and large, large bathroom. Access to a fridge in the dining room/reception check in. Free cold filtered and hot water. Pastries and fruit at breakfast. Coffee and tea available all day.

We were on the 2nd floor, so tricky to carry two large cases up the stairs as there's no lift. Although this was fine. Could be some road noise at night

The location was excellent and older world charm of the property was delightful. The bed was really comfortable and the room was impeccably clean. The complimentary breakfast( albeit not the usual American Fayre) was really a lovely touch and we met so many people on their travels whilst sharing the communal breakfast table. It’s not exactly what I expected - tho not sure what I did expect🤣, however it was a truly wonderful stay. The staff were all very pleasant and exceptionally helpful.

The room was a little small for our luggage but that’s no fault of the proprietor- we’re on a 3 week trip and needed all3 cases ( lesson learned).

I loved how quiet the Inn is. The place is cozy and comfortable. The rooms are super clean and comfortable as well. The location is great, on a beautiful street with an easy walk to stores, restaurants and sites. The staff recommends places for you if you have any questions. Coffee made with warm croissants and sweets if you prefer were in the dining area each morning. Filtered water is available also. I would 100% chose this Inn to stay in again and again.

Only issue was the water pressure in the shower isn't great, but overall, it would not stop me from coming back.

We had a lovely stay at Marshall Slocum. It was convenient to everything which made it the perfect “home base” for all our little adventures this weekend. We were able to walk nearly everywhere. The room was lovely and quiet, as was the house. We really only heard other guests in the morning as they left their rooms. Everything was very clean and all of the basics were covered. It’s a small thing, but the coffee brewing at 6:30 was lovely. We could smell it in our room, even on the third floor, which was a lovely way to wake up. Jackson and Dana were both so helpful and accommodating with both our late arrival and early departure.

Breakfast was a very light interpretation of continental with small pastries and fruit, but it’s free and there is a wide variety of options nearby if you’re looking for something more robust.

We stayed in the apartment (my husband, myself and our adult daughter). The apartment was perfect for what we needed. It was nice to have the included parking area. The location was perfect. The beds were comfy and the shower was great. It was well stocked with everything one would need. I would definitely stay again if in the area.

If there was any complaint…breakfast was very sparse. Breakfast started at 9am for only one hour. Also, we weren’t aware that the apartment was up about 13 outside stairs. It wasn’t a problem for us, but could be for someone else.

The room was sufficiently comfortable and included a large bathroom. The house itself and the decor were very quaint and historical. Ample on-site parking and a very friendly and helpful staff. There was a lovely patio at the back where guests may take their breakfast or relax during the day.

The continental breakfast was a bit sparse in variety compared to other B&B's, and there were no afternoon offerings, e.g., iced tea or lemonade and cookies, as are sometimes provided at comparable venues.

The Hotel is lovely with lots of period furnishings. It is clean and, bright and airy, particularly the breakfast and lounge areas. Staff are friendly and helpful, but also not intrusive. The property has a very homely feel

We had the room with the spiral staircase to the upstairs bathroom. It was quirky and interesting but the downstairs bedroom area was a little on the small side. Our glimpses into some of the other rooms on the property revealed that they were really quite spacious, so it might be worthwhile checking before booking

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Marshall Slocum Inn in July 2024. We stayed in the apartment and it was very comfortable, plenty of room, nicely furnished and comfortable beds. The pastries for breakfast in the morning were freshly baked and delicious. Staff gave great recommendations on restaurants and tours. The location was excellent. We were able to walk and take the free trolley everywhere. I highly recommend this Inn.

We loved everything about our stay!

Let me start by first saying that I have been to the Marshall Slocum 4 times and it never disappoints. Mark has always been a great help at any time no matter what the need might be. The property is beautiful, and there is never an issue with parking. I also have never had any issues with noise while staying there. I don’t have anything but positive accolades for the Inn, the property itself, and all the rooms! I most recently stayed in the cottage and I loved it. I also liked what was called the Captain’s room as well. Really any room there has been wonderful. It’s so centrally located to downtown that you can just walk. No need to get in your car. The rooms are tastefully appointed, and anything you need is either already there or can be easily acquired. The rooms are beautiful, and feel historic in their own way. I would never hesitate to recommend Marshall Slocum Inn. And I know that I will be back. Mark and the staff there are wonderful!
