Looks like it was newly renovated or redecorated. Right across the street from the beach!! Price for the location was excellent!!

Had a couple of problems with the electronic door lock, but quickly resolved. Garbage disposal installed, but no switch to be able to use it. Light fixture above sink (I think), but no power/bulbs/switch to be able to use it. Only had bathroom towels, no wash cloths or kitchen towels (we had a kitchenette unit).

Ideal location, directly across the street from the beach⛱️ . Close to restaurants & pubs. The suite we stayed in was comfortable & had all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. Quick drive to Coronado or North Island by taking the Silver Strand.

Other than the housekeepers, there is no inn staff on the premises. The beach is often closed due to the sewage flowing up from the Tijuana River. There is also a VERY foul stench in the air, which is another issue, but apparently Imperial Beach has a campaign going to get is under control

The location of the property was perfect. Super convenient being walking distance from the beach. A lot of food options to chose from also.

I didn’t like that 24/7 service wasn’t available. In the middle of the night the toilet flooded and I urgently needed a plunger LOL. Thankfully the guys from 7/11 was able to lend me one however it was a little bit of an inconvenience. Also, there’s no A/C in the room but wasn’t too much of a problem with the windows open it did from time to time feel somewhat moist or humid in the room though especially after showering.

The location was amazing it was so peaceful there. The room was a little small and we could hear our neighbors but it was still comfortable and cozy. This is a hidden jem of a hotel everything was perfect even the annoying stuff I mentioned. It was just absolutely beautiful there. And we love we could have our fur children!

What I mentioned previously: the room was small and the walls were thin so we could hear our neighbors. But it wasn’t that bad and we still had a blast! Like I said even the things we didn’t like we tolerated and were okay because the property is perfect in our eyes!

We liked the staff and the manager, who were extremely helpful in our stay in our questions. The location was near the ocean (Imperial Beach). Walking distance to the the beach and excellent places to eat at. The night was quiet. We enjoyed our stay, we would do it again.

Well, truly the bathroom sink wasn't draining too well. The bathroom sink could use a little maintenance and the bathtub, should be replaced with a shower. Upgrade the bathroom. That's just what we felt was wrong with it.

Construction was happening next property over (my stay was in August 2023), so waking up on Wednesday and Thursday morning to construction noise by 8am. Looks like construction will be going strong for another month or two. No AC, so windows needed to be open to cool room, which also means you can hear everyone (people at motel, people walking the street, cars driving by) around you. If you are sensitive to noise when you sleep, consider these situations. Ear plugs will help if you are a person who can sleep with them.

It is contactless property. There are no staff on site. You have to text pictures of your ID and text them in order to register. The only communication was by text. Call me old fashioned, but I like to have some human interaction.

I travel a lot for business. So, I stay in a lot of hotels. Normally, I do not do reviews; unless my stay is extraordinary. So, this is the reason I am compelled to inform other business and/or leisure travelers about this ‘hidden gem’. I stayed in one of the Sand Castle Inn’s apartment suites (garden view) over the Holidays. And I HAVE to say it was one of the most pleasurable stays that I can remember. This is not just a nice hotel by the ocean; it is a mini-resort. I say this because of the exceptional, personalized service that the managers and the entire staff provide. It is the quietest place that I have ever stayed in. It is located in the beautiful, quaint, and laid-back southern California beach town of Imperial Beach. Located right across the street from the Pacific ocean. All you hear all day is the waves crashing on the beach. And their sound is loud enough, to reach the beach, across the street, past the front building, back into the garden area, and through the windows. And the grounds are VERY quiet. The rooms and kitchen were well-stocked with everything I needed; and then some. So, some thought went into supplying the rooms and kitchen with plenty of wares. And everything worked fine. Also, the cost is very reasonable. Especially due to the high-quality, resort-type accommodations, (VERY nice interior), and location. I can go on an on about positive things regarding this little gem; but you should experience it yourselves. I HIGHLY recommend staying here.

Very clean room. We had a Jr suite for 3 adults and I child. There was more than enough room. The beds were very comfy! The bathroom and main room are modern, well maintained and clean. We stayed on the 2nd floor and had a good view of the waves from Imperial Beach. It was across the street from the ocean with a quaint beach town feel. The front desk people were very friendly and welcoming! I highly recommend a stay here when in the area!

Parking is a bit of a challenge, nothing crazy, but the front desk people were very accommodating in showing us where to park.

Super economical and well rounded motel and you're still by the waves in SD. I can't complain much 🤞🏼

The trash situation. I'm not too sure if there's a bigger dumpster but that trash can in the garden/patio is always filled and a little gross but it's not that serious in my personal opinion. It's still a great motel.
